When you look back at those magical songs sung by Asha Bhosle, the one thing that gets crystal clear is that this legend is inimitable. There can’t be another Asha. Her voice is not just full of melody, there’s also a certain youthful enthusiasm with which she sings. And even at 78, she can put you under the same spell with that charismatic crooning, which she did eons ago
Reminiscing the days when she used to record songs with Pancham (RD Burman), Asha says, “If I start telling you stories, it will take days. I used to teach Hindi to Pancham, but he never taught me Bengali. I learnt the language by listening to RD converse with Kishore (Kumar) in between recordings.” As the legendary Panchamda and Kishore Kumar continue living in our hearts, we pay tribute to the evergreen Asha Bhosle on her birthday who has hummed magical tunes and struck a chord with each one of us.
