Vidya Balan’s simple mehendi ceremony

As we had revealed earlier, 11 December was the pre wedding ‘sangeet’ party of Bollywood actress Vidya Balan with UTV head honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur.

It was a quiet and private affair. Unlike the big, fat and extremely high profile Kapoor and Khan union in October 2012, our shutterbugs spotted no B-town celebrities at Vidya Balan’s pre-wedding bash, except the bride and groom themselves!

The venue was Vidya Balan’s residence, decorated with flowers and cheerful lights. The bride stuck to her trademark style of wearing a sari from her favourite designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. In pure south silk, the sari had traditional Indian shades of red, orange, maroon and brown. The groom, Siddharth looked simple in a cream churidar-kurta with golden thread work on it.

Before the sangeet party, an insider had revealed, “Preparations are on in full swing from Vidya’s end. Siddharth’s brothers Kunal and Aditya are also planning something special. Vidya’s cousins have made a medley of her hit songs and will put up a special act for the couple. The actress will herself be grooving to ‘Ooh La La’ from her film ‘ The Dirty Picture’.”

But why the lack of any Bollywood celebrities?

None of Vidya’s Directors, Producers, Co-stars, B-Town Friends… Nobody?

A friend related to Vidya Balan’s family clarified, “Siddharth and Vidya both want to keep it very private so she’s inviting only very, very close friends and family”.

However it seems that the reception on 14 December should be star studded. Reportedly, megastar Amitabh Bachchan with bahu Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, filmmakers Ekta Kapoor, Milan Luthria, Vishal Bhardwaj and many others have been invited to the ceremony.

Though the traditional style Tamil wedding on 14 December is once again going to be a private event.

As for Vidya’s current project ‘Ghanchakkar’ opposite Emraan Hashmi, we hear that the schedule has been adjusted to fit around the wedding.  Says a source, “Since it is produced by UTV it was convenient to co-ordinate Vidya’s shooting schedule with her wedding date.”

Director Rajkumar Gupta who had gone to Jharkhand for his younger brother’s wedding will be cutting short his visit and rushing back to finish the shooting schedule between December 12, to December 15. Confirmed Gupta, “Yes, we’ve to shoot from December 12 to December 15. After that I’ve one week-long schedule in January. But Vidya is not required for that.”

After ‘Ghanchakkar’, we hear that the ‘fourth Khan of Bollywood’, Vidya Balan plans to take a break from work, and play wifey for a while.
