death hoax: Ayushmann Khurrana is NOT dead

Actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana has become the latest celebrity to fall prey to a death hoax on the internet

Bollywood's latest heartthrob Ayushmann Khurrana has truly arrived. While the actor-singer became a hit after the success of 'Vicky Donor', a bizarre incident on Wednesday night has inadvertently helped Ayushmann join an elite list that includes Hollywood A-listers like Tom Cruise, Mickey Rourke and Justin Bieber, and Indian celebs like Amitabh Bachchan and Kader Khan.

Ayushmann Khurrana joined these celebs on Wednesday night after falling prey to a death hoax.

A website called Global Associated News reported that the actor had died after being involved in a snowboard accident at the Zermatt ski resort in Switzerland.

The report went on to say, `The actor and novice snowboarder was vacationing at the Zermatt ski resort in Zermatt, Switzerland with family and friends. Witnesses indicate that Ayushmann Khurrana lost control of his snowboard and struck a tree at a high rate of speed.

Ayushmann Khurrana was air lifted by ski patrol teams to a local hospital, however, it is believed that the actor died instantly from the impact of the crash. The actor was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and drugs and alcohol do not appear to have played any part in his death."

A message at the bottom of the site, in fine print, reads: "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes!"

Global Associated News is a website front for fakeawish.com that allows users to generate hoax death headlines for the celebrity of their choice.

But the actor's fans didn't question the authenticity of the news and social media sites were soon flooded with "RIP Ayushmann Khurrana" messages.

Responding to Twitteratis mourning his demise, the 28-year-old actor took to the micro-blogging site to dismiss the rumours and set the record straight.

`I have been hearing some bizarre rumors about my demise. RIP rumor mongers. Thanks!` Ayushmann tweeted.

The site has since removed Ayushmann's name and replaced him with a Hollywood celebrity.
