Two top actresses -- Katrina and Priyanka Chopra -- were in contention for the role, but Kabir Khan has opted for his favourite Katrina Kaif, whom he directed in New York and Ek Tha Tiger.
The new film, to be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, will have Saif Ali Khan in the male lead. He was finalized about three months back. However, the makers couldn’t sign in the heroine, because Katrina Kaif was caught up with director Siddharth Anand’s Bang Bang; and with the postponement of the film’s shooting following the head injury and surgery of the film’s hero Hrithik Roshan, Katrina’s date diary went haywire.
So Priyanka Chopra was the second best option. Sources say she was considered for the role and could have been roped in had Katrina not sorted out her messy dates to match with Saif’s.
Saif Ali Khan, as you might know, is mighty busy with films like Bullet Raja, Humshakal and Happy Ending.
Kabir Khan’s film is said to be a thriller and it will be shot in Kashmir, Punjab, London, and cities of the USA. The script has been written by Kabir himself, and given his penchant for political, espionage thrillers with terror angle, we won’t be surprised if this one too is on the same lines.
The film is yet untitled. It would mark the coming together of Katrina Kaif and Saif Ali Khan for the second time after Race.
