If things pan out, the duo may come together in the film ‘Welcome Back’ to entertain the masses who are longing to see them recreate magic again.
Big B & Rekha in Welcome back?
Buzz has it the makers of Welcome have approached Big B to be part of the film’s sequel Welcome Back. Apparently, they want the megastar to reprise the character of RDX played by the late Bollywood actor Feroz Khan in the original. Our khabroo tells us that Rekha too has been offered the role of a rich designer in the sequel of Welcome.
Confirming this, Bazmee said, “Bachchan saab has done almost every role in his life but I can assure you that this one will be something terrific and special for him. The role will also be much longer than what Feroz saab essayed. Nadiadwala has bounced it off Rekhaji too. I have yet to meet both of them, which I plan to do in the next seven-eight days.”
Most enigmatic love story of B-Town
The Amitabh-Rekha affair remains one of the most enigmatic love stories of Bollywood. There have been speculations but never a confirmation.
The duo was the most successful pair of the 80s and spectators can hardly forget some of their successful hits such as “Muqaddar Ka Sikandar”, “Suhaag”, “Mr Natwarlal”, and “Ram Balram”. Sparks between them flew on the sets of ‘Do Anjane’ when they shared screen space for the first time, but it was during the shoot of “Mukaddar Ka Sikandar” that Rekha apparently chose Amitabh as her ‘Mukaddar’.
Their off-screen relationship was similar to their onscreen persona and it even inspired Yash Chopra's Slsila'. This flick created quite a stir because Jaya, Amitabh and Rekha worked together in a romantic triangle, which added fuel to the fire on their relationship. This was Rekha-Amit’s last flick together, which also pointed fingers at Jaya for stopping the duo to work together.
Over the years, Amitabh has maintained a dignified silence over his alleged romance with the beautiful Rekha. However, the star of the millennium said in a recent interview that he absolutely has no issues sharing screen space with Rekha again if there is a good opportunity.
An insider source revealed, “Neither Amitabh nor Rekha have expressed any apprehensions so far about working together in Welcome Back. And yes they do have scenes together.”
The thought of witnessing the magic of Bollywood’s ‘Umrao Jaan’ and ‘Angry young man’ again on tinsel screen sounds extraordinarily heavenly, but the million dollars question is--will they ever co-star with each other?
