Twitterati in splits over DDLJ jokes

Shah Rukh Khan has revealed grand party plans to toast the 1,000-week run of his 1995 blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, a new trailer of which has been trending ever since it was launched by the Yash Raj Films for the occasion.

The trailer has crossed over 1.8 million hits in a week. Meanwhile, even as SRK along with his DDLJ co-stars Kajol, Anupam Kher, Farida Jalal, Mandira Bedi and Pooja Ruparel regaled fans on popular television show Comedy Nights With Kapil, DDLJ is fast becoming the hottest topic of jokes on Twitter ahead of completing its box-office record on December 18. The microblogging site is flooded with funnies with possible alternate endings, had various celebrities directed it.

Sample this gem, "In Salman Khan's DDLJ, train ran over Simran because Salman Bhai was driving the train." Another witty one goes, "In Sajid Khan's DDLJ, Simran's role would also be played by Shah Rukh Khan." Imagination runs wild over the versions that would have been made by Aamir Khan ("A naked guy blocks the train tracks"), Narendra Modi ("Simran never catches the train because it's a bullet train which has already reached Gujarat"), Arvind Kejriwal ("The dharna guys are already blocking the track), Rahul Gandhi's ("Raj never reaches the train because he's too busy empowering the villagers").

A real cracker was thriller specialists Abbas-Mustan's DDLJ. "Raj is actually Simran. Simran removes a mask to show she is Mogambo, flies to Turkey, becomes Raj who is actually Simran." In Sunny Leone's DDLJ, "her husband runs up to find her doing the dirty with Priya Rai and then joins them", while in Smriti Irani's version "Raj and Simran get off at the wrong station because station names were in Sanskrit".
