PK earns Rs.276 cr in 2 weeks, highest ever for any Bollywood film

In an industry marred by star power and lack of originality, Aamir Khan's PK has finally proved that content is the king. PK has become the highest grossing film of Bollywood with pocketing Rs. 276.32 crore in just 2 weeks.

PK has overtaken Aamir Khan's earlier movie Dhoom: 3 and SRK's Chennai Express. Dhoom: 3 and Chennai Express had also earned close to Rs. 265 cr and Rs. 258 cr in domestic market respectively.

PK's worldwide collection at the moment stands at Rs. 376.15. The on-going controversies surrounding the film may just give it that extra push to touch the Rs.500-cr-mark by the end of next week.

Trade analyst Komal Nahta took to Twitter to share the latest information.

The Rajkumar Hirani directed social-satire has been in the news for more than one reason. Soon after its release on Dec 19, the movie landed in a huge controversy, courtesy its sensitive content. Several Hindu outfits including Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad slammed PK for being anti-Hindu and demanded immediate ban. Theatres showing PK were also vandalised in some cities including Delhi, while Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir khan have been slapped with FIRs and PILs.

However, the film is running to packed houses in all the centres across the nation, indicating that the Rs.300 cr (domestic) milestone is not far. Tax-free status in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is also expected to add to PK's total earning in coming days.
