Rajinikanth, the superstar who was entangled in court battles of late is quite relieved as he recently won a legal battle against Varsha Productions, the makers of Main Hoon Rajinikanth. It is to be mentioned here that Rajinikanth has filed a case in Chennai Court against Varsha Productions, a Mumbai-based film production company for using his name in the title, depicting his style in comical manner and then promoting it as a biopic of Rajinikanth.
Rajinikanth has filed a case under his original name Shivaji Rao Gaikwad and invoked the personality rights clause and sought protection against its infringement. Following his petition, the High Court has stalled the release of the film in February this year noting that the actor has every right to safeguard and protect his personality rights.
After a long court battle, the judgment went in favour of Superstar Rajinikanth. The title of the film “Main Hoon Rajinikanth” has now been changed to “Main Hoon (Part-time) Killer”. The movie is all about a CBI official named Rajinikanth, who creates nuisance in other people’s life and then goes on killing people.
It all began in the first instance, when Latha Rajinikanth has seen some vulgar scenes from the film Main Hoon Rajinikanth were posted on YouTube, she was enraged and brought to the notice of the superstar. Superstar Rajinikanth has then filed a case against the makers stating in his application that those vulgar scenes are “entirely unethical to the nature of films chosen by him and his image/reputation amongst the public.”
