Newcomer to Celebrity Cricket League Ayushmann Khurrana said, "I’m really excited to be part of the team.

A BEVY of stars will be seen in action during the Celebrity Cricket League matches at the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Saturday. While home team Punjab De Sher will take on Bengal Tigers, the other match will be played between Mumbai Heroes and Bhojpuri Dabanggs.

“The Punjabi fan base and culture is so strong that having Punjab De Sher this time has had a huge impact on the league. What is impressive is the massive online traction and NRI diaspora rooting for the team. So much so that we’ve sold online rights for viewing,” said Sohail Khan. The star was sure that the Punjab team would definitely make its mark. “Punjab in the ranks, the league can now be called a pan-India league,” added Khan.

“It not only fosters a sense of camaraderie and team spirit, but promotes fitness and healthy living too,” feels co-owner of Punjab De Sher, Ayushmann Khurana. The new entrant in the Punjab team, Khurana was happy to be part of it. “I’m really excited to be part of the team. Cricket and cinema are two of the biggest obsessions of this country and I’m a big fan of the sport, so am looking forward to it,” added Khurana.

Punjab De Sher’s another co-owner and star performer Navraj Hans is pleased to be on home ground. As for the captain of the Punjab team, Sonu Sood said, “Playing at home is a boon but it also adds pressure as you are expected to win on your own turf.”

Sood is happy with the fact that the team management has taken up social issues related to drugs and are encouraging the youth to lead a healthy lifestyle. “I hope youngsters are motivated by seeing celebrities working hard and playing to promote a fit and healthy routine.

Everybody should contribute to the eradication of this problem from the state and I’m sure with time, it will get resolved,” said Sood, who was joined by Riteish Deshmukh and Bhojpuri star Dinesh Lal Yadav.

Other Bollywood stars like Sridevi, Boney Kapoor, WWE Superstar The Great Khali along with Punjabi singers and actors are also expected to cheer their teams from the stands.
