Akshay Kumar wants to make his return to action in Housefull 2 remarkable, so the introductory fight scene will be shot in Antarctica, with Akshay bare chested!
No feature film has been shot in the icy continent and getting permission was a task.
"Yes, I'm shooting Akshay's introductory action sequence for Housefull 2 in Antarctica. It's the coldest place in the world. Only documentaries have been shot there. God willing, Housefull 2 will be the first feature to be shot in that continent," director Sajid Khan confirmed to Mumbai Mirror.
There have been a few Hollywood thrillers and Scifi films set in Antarctica, but they were filmed on locations in the extreme northern areas of Canada. The most recent thriller set in Antarctica was Kate Beckinsale's Whiteout (2009).
According to the Mumbai Mirror, 43 year old Akshay will feature shirtless in the fight scene.
Akshay earlier filmed deep diving sequences for the 2009 thriller Blue, but the big budget extravaganza with an ensemble cast sank without a trace.
Filming the 10 minute scene in Antarctica is Akshay's idea and producer Sajid Nadiadwala and director Khan are game.
Akshay will also be singing in the film, having made his singing debut in Priyadarshan's Khatta Meetha.
Housefull additionally stars Asin as Akshay's love interest.
Filming will begin in May 2011.
