Sallu’s fee raised to Rs 10 crore..

Salman Khan is definitely the flavor of the season. on a roll. With Dabangg and Ready being among the all-time blockbusters of the Indian film industry, Sallu’s fee has taken a high jump to a level that makes him the highest paid actor in Bollywood.

After much controversies, Khan has signed the sequel to Anees Bazmee’s No Entry, titled No Entry Mein Entry, with Boney Kapoor for a whopping amount of Rs 8 – 10 crore.

Boney Kapoor understands Salman Khan’s increased market value after the super successes of his last two films and did not object to the star’s higher acting fee. He reportedly paid between eight to ten crore rupees to Salman for doing No Entry Mein Entry.

According to a trusted source, says director Anees Bazmee, “I don’t knwo the exact amount that Salman Khan has received for No Entry Mein Entry. I am busy working on the script. But yes, Salman deserves whatever he gets.”

If true, that makes Salman the highest paid actor in Bollywood.

Salman out, Sanjay in !!!

Salman Khan is high on demand. Producers have been queuing up to sign Salman, but he’s so hard-pressed for time that he has to turn down a lot of offers.

Latest news has it that Salman Khan has expressed his inability to host the fifth season of the telly show ‘Bigg Boss’ because of time issues.

Salman is busy with films like Bodyguard with Kareena Kapoor and Ek Tha Tiger with Katrina Kaif. After that he will commit to good friend Sajid Nadiadwala’s film Kick, brother Sohail Khan’s Sher Khan and, of course, Dabangg 2.

Sanjay Dutt has taken over from his good friend Sallu as the host of the show, with special appearances by Salman.

"I can't shoot with pregnant " : Says Aishwarya

Director Madhur Bhandarkar shelves his dream project, 'Heroine'

News of Aishwarya Rai's pregnancy has come as a shock to director Madhur Bhandarkar, who has now decided to shelve his ambitious venture, Heroine.

According to sources, Bhandarkar was blissfully ignorant about her pregnancy and was busy making ambitious plans for his film.

However, now his dreams have come crashing down as he has realised that there is no way he can shoot the film with the dates given to him by the actress.

Also, the role requires her to smoke, dance, run around and do things, which are normally not advisable for a pregnant woman.

Even though Aishwarya is ready to shoot on the given dates, Madhur doesn't want to go ahead.

Apart from being worried about not being able to shoot with a five-month pregnant Ash, he is also concerned that she might not be available when the post-production and promotional work starts.

While the director has decided to go underground for a while, presumably because of this huge disappointment, a friend close to him informs, "About R 3.5-4 crore have gone down the drain.

About ten days of the shoot were completed at a set in Vile Parle, Mumbai.

The special set was erected and a red light area was recreated in it. Madhur was really excited about this movie. But because of the circumstances, he has no option but to shelve the project. No one anticipated this situation."

'Expecting' losses..

It is also said that a cosmetic brand that Aishwarya endorses, had invested R 50 lakh in the film, as sponsorship fees. Producers UTV Motion Pictures apparently stand to lose about R 3.5 crore in the bargain.

'Andaz Apna Apna' without Aamir and Salman?

Actor Aamir Khan, who will be seen in the third part of the superhit Dhoom series says sequels should have different and interesting stories to be carried forward and feels there surely can be a second installment of two of his successful films Sarfarosh and Andaz Apna Apna.

"I don't have any objections to sequels. I think if I have liked the casting, the story or film or characters then I would like to know what happens to them later. If there is a possibility of equally nice story...that is different and unusual from the first one but using the same characters (then why not)," Aamir told PTI.

"The ones that I feel have the potential to be made into sequels are Sarfarosh and Andaz Apna Apna . These are the one who have potential but none of them are being worked on," he said.

Directed and written by John Matthew Matthan, Sarfarosh (1999) dealt with an Indian police officer's fight to stop cross-border terrorism. The action film starred Aamir Khan as ACP Ajay Singh Rathod, Sonali Bendre as his love and Naseeruddin Shah in a negative role. The film did moderately well in the box office and was declared as an above average grosser.

"In case of a sequel to 'Sarfarosh' see one can show how the character of ACP Rathod gets a new case to solve. So even I will like to do it. Though John has not written it but conceptually I don't mind. But next part should be different, new and something interesting. It should not be like we have just altered the script and made a film. I won't do that," Aamir said.

"I would be happy to do Sarfarosh 2 provided there is a good script. It should be as good as the first one. I don't want to destroy the goodwill of the first one by making a bad part of it," the 46-year-old actor said.

Uday Will Quit Acting After Dhoom 3 !!!

Actor Uday Chopra has decided to give up acting career after Dhoom 3.

"Ok confession time...Dhoom 3 is my swan last I'm not giving up acting...quite the opposite, acting is giving up on me!" Uday wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

The 38-year-old son of filmmaker Yash Chopra forayed into acting with his home production Mohabbatein in 2000 along with Jimmy Shergill and Jugal Hansraj.

Uday was later seen in Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, which also did well at the box office, and has also been a part of successful Dhoom franchise. However, his other films failed to set the cash registers ringing at the box-office.

Lara goes the family way???

After actress Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan’s recent announcement of her pregnancy, speculations are rife about the other Bunt babe from Bollywood, actor Shilpa Shetty.

However, she’s not alone as grapevine is abuzz with news that the Bollywood actress turned film producer, Lara Dutta who recently wed tennis player, Mahesh Bhupathi early this year, too is in the family way.

Says a source close to the couple, “Lara and Mahesh have always taken things as they come. Though they have been busy with their respective work, they feel it’s the right time to have a kid. Besides, Lara has just finished shooting for Don 2, and is working on her next home production now. She may or she may not feature in her next film.”

Since it’s still in the early stages, the couple will apparently make the announcement only when they feel it’s the right time for it. “It is considered inauspicious to speak about the pregnancy until it’s completed three months. Right now they are really hush-hush about the entire thing and do not want too many people’s attention,” says the source.

Karishma signs a horror filck!!

Karishma Kapoor is all set to make a smashing come back in Vikram Bhatt’s 3D film, Dangerous Ishq.

It’s been really long, we’ve seen the lovely actress on silver screen and we are sure her fans have been waiting for her comeback announcement.

Buzz has is that as soon as Lolo read the script, there was an instant nod from her.

Dangerous Ishq is a supernatural thriller based on past-life regression. Karisma has had a long two decade career and interestingly, she has never been seen in a horror flick so far. The actress is very excited about this movie since it is a different genre. To top is all, it’s a 3D movie.

All is well between Ranbir and Imran !!!

The chocolaty boy of Bollywood, Imran Khan is doing great in his personal as well as professional front. The actor is currently eagerly awaiting his next release Delhi Belly.

Now that all’s going well in Imran’s life, the actor wants to bury the hatchet with Ranbir Kapoor too.

Speaking about his long-standing rivalry with Ranbir, Imran played down the whole thing saying, “Everything is fine between the two of us. He just messaged me last week saying that he saw the song DK Bose and he is waiting to watch the film. We’re still friends!”

Imran blames the media for everything that went wrong between them,

“I am not blind to the stories that come out. When such stories surface, I just pick up the phone and call him. He in turn messages me to clarify things. Certain people around you will always try to poison your mind. This can be rather dangerous. When the first story about the two of us fighting was printed, Ranbir called me to clarify. There must’ve been people around him doing all this. I never blamed him for it,” he said.

Saif all set for a zom-com…

Director duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK are all set to make a zombie comedy. The duo had a success with their last, critically acclaimed Shor in the City.

This zombie comedy will be the first out-of-the-box, unique concept for the Indian audience. The latest buzz we hear is that Saif Ali Khan will be playing the central character, probably the zombie. However, the zombie character has been kept under wraps.

According to a trusted source, “The film is produced by Saif Ali Khan’s Illuminati Films and is tentatively called Go Goa Gone. It is a horror comedy, a mix of two unlikely genres. Incidentally, Saif has been quoted saying that he wanted to make a horror film for some time now. Something like this has never been done in India.”

He further added “Preparation on the film started a few months ago, and shooting is about to start. Saif loved the idea in the first few minutes of hearing the concept and wanted to do it immediately. Saif will play a central role in the film while his sister’s boyfriend Kunal Khemmu will play an integral part.”

When contacted, Raj and DK said, “After Shor, people said we should do a romcom. And we thought, why not do a zomcom instead? We have had this story idea for years, but we think now is a great time to do this film. And the best person to do this with is Saif. Also, GGG is a complete change from Shor. A complete horror comedy with a lot of action thrills and chills.”

SRK blames smoking habit on days with theatre

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan blames his initial days with theatre for his smoking habit.

Recalling his days as a theatre actor in Delhi, he said: “I remember when a fireplace was put up, the guys used to go behind the fireplace to smoke and put out the fire. That’s how I also started smoking and it is not my fault. It has (this habit) got all to do with theatre.”

The Badshah of Bollywood, who arrived in Toronto for the 12th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards ceremony, said he would love to return to theatre as it was his first love.

“I belong to theatre. I started off doing a lot of stage in Delhi… first small time and then a little on the streets. Always the desire was to be a theatre actor. I used to work with John Barry and even Sheilaji – a lot of wonderful producers, directors. We used to go out and perform in small little theatres and on stages.”

He added, “The Kingdom of Dreams (in Gurgaon) wants me to come and perform under the tutelage of Shiamak Davar.”

Challenging Dawar and making fun of his knee problem, he said, “My dance is better than yours even on one leg.”

When a reporter asked him in lighter vein in Hindi, “Kya mard ko dard naahi hota: (whether a man like him doesn’t feel pain) – Shah Rukh replied in the same vein – “Mard ko bahut dard hota hai” (the man feels a lot of pain).

The actor said he was advised two weeks ago not to perform, but he didn’t want to go back on his commitment to Wizcraft “who have been very kind to me all these years”.
He said his knee surgery is scheduled for July.

Ranbir-Priyanka link-up stories continue…

Bollywood beauty Priyanka Chopra and the naughty Ranbir Kapoor, shared a strong chemistry, the last time they shared the screen in ‘Anjaana Anjaani’. There were link up stories between the two. But despite the speculation the two maintained that they are just “good buddies”

The so called “good buddies” are back to rock the screen in their forthcoming Anurag Basu’s ‘Barfee’. So ione can expect the sparks to fly once again.

Says a source, “The two had a five day schedule together. When the two met, they looked like they just picked up from where they had left off the last time around, just like any friends would. In fact, strangely there were no hints of them ever being a couple, nor any awkwardness despite the rumours they’d had to dodge the last time they shot together for Anjaana Anjaani”.

Another source close to the stars added that their busy schedules had kept them from staying in constant touch with each other. “But both were happy to have met again. It’s just that unlike their last film, this time the nature of thefilm is quite serious, so the two didn’t joke around as much. The two are, however, looking forward to begin shooting together again in August, when Priyanka returns from the US,” added the source.

Incidentally, both Ranbir and Priyanka are making sure that they keep their private lives out of the limelight taking extra measures to ensure that they don’t get linked again. “Both have been written about extensively for their past relationships and now the two only want to concentrate on their careers,” said a source.

Aamir : "Now is time for item boys"

Aamir Khan, the new item boy of Bollywood, has taken the industry by storm.

Aamir Khan has won so many hearts with his debut item song “I hate you like I love you” in his upcoming production Delhi Belly. Paying tribute to the disco era of Indian cinema of the 1980s, Aamir enacts Mithun Chakraborty, Govinda, Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and even Amitabh Bachchan.

That’s perhaps the reason why the item song has gone down very well with the fans who are particularly delighted by Aamir’s new retro makeover.

“As far as the item dance done by me is concerned, it is a warning to Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone that the era of item girls is over… now it’s time for item boys,” Aamir said.

Earlier, Aamir said that he has copied the styles of many cine legends in the dance number.

“I have copied Amitji’s hairstyle, Govinda and Mithunda’s dance style. Hair on my chest is from Anilji and the dressing is an amalgamation of all,” he said.

The song has been choreographed by Bosco, written by Akshat and composed by Ram Sampat.

Sallu aims at pulling crowd to theaters for ‘Chillar Party’

Salman Khan is doing all that he can, to make people watch a small budget film Chillar Party, featuring little kids. This would also be Salman’s first project as a producer. The flick however, doesn’t have much star value save for an item number “Tai Tai Fisss” by Ranbir Kapoor.

Salman Khan is making sure that his first production Chillar Party doesn’t go unnoticed, since the coming weeks would see the release of a slew of films featuring popular names like Amitabh Bachchan, Imran Khan,
Katrina Kaif, Hrithik Roshan and many more.

The superstar has already gone to Delhi to show the movie to the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ambika Soni. Salman isn’t known to hold special screenings of his films for politicians, but for Chillar Party he not just made an exception but also requested Mrs. Soni to make ‘Chillar Party’ tax free.

Chillar Party clashes with the big budget Murder 2, and so, it needs a face like Salman’s to pull the crowds to theaters.

Salman congratulates Aishwarya, Abhishek on first child

As the news came that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is expecting, Salman Khan joined the Bollywood stars in wishing the Bachchans. At an event to promote his movie Chillar Party, Salman congratulated the Bachchans and wished them well.

Salman, who had a affair with Aishwarya in the late 1990s and later had a public and a messy breakup, put all that behind him. In his (Dabangg’s) Chulbul Pandey’s style, he went on to wish them not one little Bachchan, but a whole football team.

Grandpa Amitabh Bachchan broke the news on Twitter. He was ecstatic and shared the news soon after Ash’s pregnancy was confirmed.

This ‘good’ news comes on the back of many a denial by the family of pregnancy. It was during Aishwarya’s visit to Cannes this year when speculation about the actor being pregnant started doing the rounds of tabloids.

Bhindi Bazaar : Review

Cast : Kay Kay Menon, Piyush Mishra, Deepti Naval, Prashant Narayan, Gautam Sharma, Shilpa Shukla, Pawan Malhotra, Vedita Pratap Singh
Directed by Ankush Bhatt

Rating: Taare Zameen Par

When I make a gangster movie, it will feature Muslim and Hindu extremists. The Hindus will wear saffron and the Muslims will flaunt smudgy eye make-up. There will be riots too and a tranny whore, a corrupt cop who swings both ways (between the two rival gangs), etc. This was probably director Ankush Bhatt's vision before he planned to make Bhindi Bazaar Inc.

Okay, to break this film down to a line: It's about a chess game, wherein every move is vaguely metaphoric and hence intercut with a pointless story from the lives of our two lead slum dogs, Darzi (Gautam Sharma) and Fateh (Prashant Narayan). These two are children when they're inducted into the world of pick-pocketing and kite-flying (yes, the two are very connected!).

After picking roughly 550 wallets each, they grow up to become capable henchmen for Mamu (Pawan Malhotra), a local ganglord. Mamu has a mami - Bano (Deepti Naval), many nameless henchmen and a mistress, Shabana (Vedita Pratap Singh), who only sleeps with about 14 men in this movie and with some in the audience. Mamu also has an arch-enemy, an extremist Hindu, Pandey (Piyush Mishra) who had his fingers chopped-off by Mamu himself in a non-sepia flashback. Needless to say, Pandey and gang make several attempts to avenge this and Mamu's men don't let the action choreographer snooze on the sets either.

If you care, the chess game is being played between Shroff (Kay Kay Menon) and Darzi. The former responds to every move made by the latter with raised eye-brows and a bedazzled expression. The conversation between the two is, well, idiotically insightful with dialogues like, "Zindagi mein pata nahin chalta, kaunse mohre kale hain, aur kaunse safed." And they're not even drinking in this scene!

The movie prances about like a headless chicken with predictable internal conspiracies that can be briefly conveyed in this dialogue, 'Ek Mamu mara, toh doosra bana'. We also have a list of cast members who're often forgotten or not informed about the shoot location. They stroll in and out of scenes, without a definite purpose. Kajri (Shilpa Shukla) leads this pack, looking like a mare with a nose ring, hanging with the Mamu clan, hoping for a love angle and dialogues (and perhaps a 'Chak De!' sequel?). Then there's Darzi's love interest, Simran (Shweta Varma) who manages 95 % of her scenes in a public bus, limiting her relationship prospects to frivolous conversation. But the most bizarre and barely-there award goes to Jackie Shroff who plays a narcotics cop. His shots seem to be taken through candid camera, as he aimlessly lurks into the frame, mumbles lines that can't be interpreted and sways his bloated self for a quick exit.

The film's overall production quality is comparable to that of regional reality TV and the background score is solely there to hold up feeble dialogues. What is more upsetting is that veteran actors such as Deepti Naval seem to be wasted and even dependable talent such as Pawan Malhotra and Kay Kay Menon can't save this Titanic.

Making films that unearth the filth and grime of our beloved Metropolis, Mumbai, is no longer a safe bet. Not, if they're stuffed with clich├ęs and dialogues that remind you of the back of trucks, like this one.

Comedy, romance, action to hit the box-office at Friday Preview...

His flawless performance as an irritating guest in the 2007 movie "Bheja Fry" is still remembered by one and all. Vinay Pathak is once again set to take the audiences on a laugh riot with the sequel "Bheja Fry 2", which releases Friday, along with "Always Kabhi Kabhi" and crime thriller "Bhindi Baazaar Inc".

The impeccable chemistry between Rajat Kapoor, Vinay and Ranvir Shorey in the film made "Bheja Fry" a big hit among the audiences. However, the sequel doesn't have Rajat and Ranvir - they have been replaced by Kay Kay and Suresh Menon.

Minissha Lamba too features in the comedy, produced by Mukul Deora and directed by Sagar Ballary.

The story revolves around good-hearted but not worldly-wise tax inspector Bharat Bhushan, who wants to fulfil his long cherished dream of becoming a singer. To make his dream a reality, he enters a game show hoping to win a cash prize with which he will make his own music album.

Eventually, Bhushan goes on to win the competition. Apart from the cash prize he also gets a free cruise trip, during which he meets sadistic business mogul Ajit Talwar (Kay Kay Menon) who is attempting to avoid income tax officials. Due to oddball circumstances owing to mistaken identity, Bhushan and Talwar are left stranded on a deserted island. The story gets interesting as both of them try to find a way out from the island.

Vinay is also making his singing debut with "Bheja Fry 2". The song titled "Oh Rahi Rahi" is based on the 1960s theme and is filmed entirely in black and white.

While "Bheja Fry" had a shoestring budget of Rs.52 lakh, "Bheja Fry 2" is said to be made "at a budget 20 times more than the original". It will be released with 450 to 500 prints.

If you are looking for romance, then badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan's production venture "Always Kabhi Kabhi" is the one.

Set in a school, "Always Kabhi Kabhi" is about four youngsters trying to compete with the pressure of growing up and the many firsts that everyone experiences in high school. It stars Zoa Morani, Ali Fazal, Satyajeet Dubey and Giselle Monteiro, popularly known as Harleen Kaur of "Love Aajkal".

Shah Rukh will be seen in a cameo appearence in a song in the film. The small-budget film is directed by TV host-turned-director Roshan Abbas and is produced under Shah Rukh's banner Red Chillies Entertainment.

Ankush Bhatt's long delayed film "Bhindi Baazaar Inc" will bring the thrill element at the box office.

Made on a budget of about Rs.4.50 crore, the film revolves around pickpocketers and how they use their intelligence and spontaneity to survive in the risky profession. Written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali and Kapil Gulati, the film starts with a game of chess and shows how a nobody from nowhere uses his brains and wits to make his way to the top.

The cast of the film includes Kay Kay Menon, Deepti Naval, Pawan Malhotra, Prashant Narayan, Shilpa Shukla, Vedita Pratap Singh and Piyush Mishra. International pop diva Jennifer Lopez's cousin, Caterina Lopez, will also make her Bollywood debut with an item song in the movie.

Mr. Bachchan to play MF Husain

If things go according to plan then soon we will get to see Amitabh Bachchan stepping into the shoes of renowned painter MF Husain’s in his biopic to be directed by Prabhakar Shukla. Before Shukla could discuss the details of the movie with Husain, he passed away in London due to heart attack. The director feels Amitabh fits the role and he is keen to rope in Mr. Bachchan.

The film titled, ‘Husain-The Painter’. Big B was very close to Husain and had fond memories of the artist. When Big B was admitted to hospital when he met with an accident during the shooting of ‘Coolie’, MF Husain gifted him a painting of Lord Hanuman carrying the sanjivani booti.

Shukla is yet to approach Mr. Bachchan and he is on hunt of a producer to back his big budget film.

Pooja Bhatt finding out for Jism lead...

Actor turned filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, 39 is on a mission to find the ‘ultimate woman’ for Jism 2. But before any conjecture about her lifestyle is made, she’s quick to clarify, “I want to find a woman who’s confident, not just in her body, but mind and spirit as well for Jism 2. She needs to be demanding, intelligent, stunningly sensual and beautiful. Perhaps too much to ask from the typical Bollywood actor.”

Jism 2 is a sequel to her 2003 mega hit, Jism that launched actor John Abraham’s career and anointed Bipasha Basu as a sex symbol. “Right now my dad’s working on the screenplay and from what we have so far I’m quite excited. This film is going to be an era defining film just like last time.”

Does this mean it will be more bold? “This film is about contemporary reality. Of course there’ll be one section of the audience which will come expecting titillation but that has no impact on the content of my films,” she says defensively.

Quiz her about the casting for the film and she says, “I don’t want to cast some big names and announce it even before I have an actual script. But I can tell you that this time around there will be two male leads vying for one woman.” So any chance of seeing either Basu or Abraham in the film. Bhatt says, “That story ended with the last film.” Could it also be because they recently split? “How can that affect the film. If the final scripts demands for an appearance by either of them, it will happen,” she says. Looks like Bhatt is ready to steam up the screens again, though this time it will be from behind the camera.

Pooja speaks...
I hardly listen to Bollywood gossip. I’d rather spend time perfecting my filmmaking skills

Just because my films feature strong women doesn’t means they’re just skin show flicks

Unlike some actors I don’t need big diamonds. I’m quite happy with my ‘m’ tattoo for my marriage

Preity turns into a producer

After dishing out some hit flicks, Preity Zinta confidently shifted from being a Bollywood actress to a successful businesswoman as an owner of IPL team Kings XI Punjab. Now, she is back into some action in the tinsel town though not as an actress but as a producer. She has launched her own production banner, PZNZ Media.

Her first flick will be a romantic comedy under the direction of Prem Soni. When asked why she chose Soni as her director when his last flick ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ bombed at the box office, Preity clarifies, “I’d rather work with someone who’s fallen down hard than someone who’s at the top because he’s driven to go out there and prove a point to the world. Even Imtiaz Ali’s first film, Socha Na Tha, wasn’t a blockbuster but today everyone wants to work with him.”

The actress has set a mediocre budget for the movie and is yet to finalize the cast of the film which will mostly be shot abroad. Preity is thoroughly happy and confident about her move and says, “It’s an instinct for choosing the right movie that’d got me where I am today,” she points out. Of course, after that I took a course at the Harvard Business School, asked a million questions and gave two years to the game. Film is my core competence and it should be easier focusing on it.”
“Suddenly, the sky is bluer, the birds are singing and life is so cool,” Chirps the chirpy actress!!

Salman's Ready is Rs 1.13 bn hit in first week

MUMBAI: Salman Khan continues to loot the box office with his action-comedy genre of movies. After Wanted and Dabangg, his latest release is being tagged as a commercial hit.

It is among the top three grossing films in its first week and we are delighted to be associated with Ponty Chadha and play a role in delivering this blockbuster.”

Ready was released worldwide by Eros International Media, in association with Waves Cinema. The film opened across 2000 screens worldwide and has continued to perform on a high note after taking a good opening.

Simi Garewal feels as 23!

She may be well over 60, but feels as young as 23! Veteran actress Simi Garewal is ready to quiz young and single celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor and Siddharth Mallya on her new show India's Most Desirable and says she is far from experiencing a generation gap.

"Genuinely, I feel I'm 23. What can I do about it? That's how I feel! I have never felt younger or older with anybody," Simi from Mumbai.

The actress has interviewed actors like Anil Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and liquor-baron Vijay Mallya on her earlier talk show Rendezvous With Simi Garewal. But for her latest chat show, which goes on air starting Sunday, she has their children as her guests. But Simi isn't fretting!

"I have got very young people on my show earlier as well! On Rendezvous..., I had the new stars who were in the limelight... Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and everyone. So I never felt there was an age or generational factor and I don't think my guests feel that either," said the confident lady whose charisma can still make many new actresses look pale.

Attempting to unveil those unknown facets of the celebrities that make them desirable, Simi says experience and knowledge are pre-requisites for someone hosting such a show.

"It's very important for a host of a show to be experienced. It is only with experience that you can deal with all age groups. If I was 17, I don't think I would have been able to deal with all these celebrities, handle them and bring out the best in them. It is only with experience and maturity that you can do that," she said.

The actress, who charmed audiences with films like Mera Naam Joker and Karz three decades ago, agrees there is an over-exposure of celebrities these days through rampant film promotions and social networking sites, but she has no problems hunting for questions!

"I don't have a problem in finding questions. They come like second nature to me. I have done interviews all my life. By god's grace and blessings, I didn't have a problem with questions at all. I can get a feel of the pulse of the people I interview and that makes my job easy," added the graceful actress.

Over the years, not much has changed about the actress but she hopes her "charm is still there" and promises the viewers will get to see a "far more laidback and relaxed and informal" side of her on India's Most Desirable.

Sonam chosen as the face of India International Jewellery Week

The second edition of the India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) is going to be held from July 31 to Aug 4 and actress Sonam Kapoor has been chosen as the face of this event which is being organized by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC). Sonam will open the event by walking the ramp on the inaugural day.

“It’s not only an honor but a privilege to be the face of this magnanimous event. This aims at promoting Indian talent on a global platform. I’m glad that GJEPC has taken the initiative of placing India on the global arena of designer jewellery. I’m looking forward to seeing some exemplary talent at the IIJW this year,” an all elated Sonam said.

GJEPC chairman Rajiv Jain explained that Sonam Kapoor has been chosen as the brand ambassador of the event because she exudes the values of glamour, luxury yet rooted in Indian culture and offers perfect brand fit.
The event will be held at the Grand Hyatt and the key participants of this year’s edition include Gitanjali Gems, Anmol Jewellers, Amrapali Jewels Pvt. Ltd, Tanishq, Rosily Paul creations, Divya Ahuja and Kashi Jewellers among others.

First Look: Vidya as Silk Smitha in ‘Dirty Picture’

Throughout her career, Vidya Balan has been known for playing a variety of challenging roles with ease and poise. Even playing the character of South siren Silk Smith for director Milan Luthria’s film Dirty Picture came as a challenge for Vidya because the role is completely is contrast to what she is in real life- simple, subdued and elegant.

However, Vidya has no qualms about it as she feels that’s where the whole challenge lies. Vidya says she is inspired from the Hollywood actress Bette Davis who played an interesting variety of roles in her acting career.

The first look of the film is out and shows Vidya dressed in a in the low-cut tie-up blouse, the floral skirt, the hair and the inviting as she poses coquettishly nibbling her thumbnail.
Vidya hasn’t watched many movies of Silk Smitha, but she has seen her in ‘Sadma’ and a few raunchy songs as well.

Angela to make her debut with ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum 2′?

Angela Johnson had been more in news for her alleged linkup with Ranbir Kappor than her professional goings. The swimsuit calendar girl auditioned for ‘Dhoom 3’ without success but now she can boast of her first Bollywood project, Kya Kool Hai Hum 2 which happens to be the sequel to the Sangeeth Sivan directed 2005 film Kya Kool Hai Hum.

She will play the second female lead to this Ekta Kapoor’s project to be directed by Sachin Yardi. Riteish Deshmukh, one of the two leading actors in the first, has agreed to the project and Bengali bombshell Bipasha Basu has been finalized for the first female lead.

However, Angela’s publicist chooses to deny the story and say, “There’s no truth in it.”

When contacted Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Telefilms said, “The leading ladies haven’t been cast yet. We are in conversation with various options and will make a formal announcement once we are ready.”

MF Husain buried in London..

The deceased Indian painter Maqbool Fida Hussain was on Friday laid to rest at Brookword cemetery near London.

MF Husain who was living in self-imposed exile since the last many years, considered himself a citizen of the world and expressed his desire to be buried in the country where he died. Keeping with this wish, he was buried with Islamic rights at Brookword cemetery at Woking in south of London.

Husain had passed away on Thursday at London’s Royal Brompton Hospital. He was 95.

The burial was attended by Husain’s family. His four sons, Shafad, Shamshad, Mustafa and Owais and two daughters Aqeela and Raisa were present at the burial ground. A few close friends of Husain were also present.

The burial lasted about 45 minutes but was delayed for about an hour because the coffin was too big and a new grave had to be dug. The initiative by the Indian government to bring Husain’s body to India for a burial was apparently ignored by the painter’s family.

Movie Review: Shaitan….

Directed by: Bejoy Nambiar
Produced by: Anurag Kashyap, Sunil Bohra, Guneet Monga, Meraj Shaikh
Screenplay by: Megha Ramaswamy, Bejoy Nambiar
Starring: Rajit Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal, Kalki Koechlin, Pawan Malhotra, Shiv Pandit, Gulshan Devaiya, Neil Bhoopalam, Kirti Kulhari
Music by: Prashant Pillai, Amar Mohile, Ranjit Barot, Anupam Roy
Editing by: Sreekar Prasad
Distributed by: Viacom 18 Motion Pictures

Shaitan, a movie which the Indian spectators will experience for the first time. It is this realism, edginess and awkwardness that stays with the audiences once they leave the theaters.

A story about five youngsters, who live life as if there is no tomorrow. They come from affluent homes, speeding through the streets of Mumbai in an expensive Hummer. Amy [Kalki], Dash [Gulshan], KC [Shiv], Zubin [Neil] and Tanya [Kirti] enjoy life, seeking for excitement all the time, till a moment changes everything. Well, they meet with an accident, killing two people on a two wheeler. Their actions to cover up lead them through a series of incidents, thus bringing out the inner ‘shaitan’ in all of them.

Inspector Mathur [Rajeev Khandelwal], who’s fighting his inner demons too, is handed over the responsibility of chasing the youngsters.

The story has the exact amount of ‘rage’, ‘psyche’ and ‘moments’. No dull moments. Both the first and the second halves were well balanced. The film gives us a glimpse of the erratic and inner psyche of today’s youngsters who live for the moment.

Talking about the star performances, Rajeev Khandelwal ( Mathur) as a cop was very very convincing, focused performance. Kalki was as usual excellent, giving a striking performance. Debut actors Shiv Pandit and Kirti both are fresh and will shock audience with their smart convincing act.The others were pretty decent and effective.

Debutant director Bejoy Nambiar has done a fab job. His content, is worth a praise. Right from the script to direction to narration to execution; everything is just about perfect. Madhi’s cinematography is spectacular.

The car chase scene literally gets your hair to stand. Must say, very interestingly shot.
The film’s sound-track, which lists five composers including Ranjit Barot and Amar Mohile and a metal band, is peppy and simply superb. Dialogues are completely youth centric.

Final word: An adrenaline pumped thriller, a must watch flick for youth who love realism and edginess.

Kat voted the FHM’s sexiest woman for the third time

The world’s largest men’s lifestyle magazine conducted the FHM 100 Sexiest Women Poll and Katrina Kaif topped it on the basis of online polls and SMS with over 35,000 entries being cast this year. This is the third time Kats wins this title by FHM after the same in 2008 and 2009.

Katrina’s average is higher than Sachin Tendulkar’s and she replaces Deepika Padukone who won the crown in 2010,” says Kabeer Sharma, executive director, FHM, India, adding, ‘We’d love to say 2011 was a close contest…only ‘Sheila’ made sure it was far from- A feat that becomes even more significant because no woman in the world across all 28 editions of FHM has ever won the sexiest woman in the World title three times in the last 17 years that we’ve been making the list.’

However, Katrina takes all this in stride and says, “If somebody is graciously giving me something why should I refuse it. When I grow old, I would like to tell my grand children about the titles I won.”
Well, we are sure here that keeping a track of all the titles and honors the beautiful lady accumulates by then would be a Herculean task!!
