Shahrukh-Deepika’s DDLJ moment in 'Chennai Express'

For the fans of Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, the picture above would sure ring a bell. It’s not from some modern remake of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, but from director Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express.

Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone flew out of Mumbai together (see pics here) last week to shoot for the film in Goa. And the first snapshot from the sets of the film has us grinning. It’s a throwback to the climax of the 1995 blockbuster Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge that had SRK leaning out of a moving train to help his ladylove come aboard.

Times have changed but that scene seems to be recreated by Rohit Shetty (in humourous vein, we presume) with Deepika Padukone now being the lady to get a helping hand from King Khan.

Shahrukh Khan and Deepika had started shooting for Chennai Express in October at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios. The film revolves around the story of a man who travels from Mumbai to Rameshwaram. What happens during the journey forms the crux of the story. Deepika Padukone plays a south Indian girl.

Chennai Express will have a lot of south Indian flavor in terms of music and dialogues. The film was earlier slated to release on Eid next year but was later postponed for a Diwali 2013 release. After all, the Diwali slot is reserved for Shahrukh Khan every year.
