Watch trailer: Saif Ali Khan's rustic avatar in 'Bullett Raja'

Action is not new to Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, however in his upcoming film 'Bullett Raja', Saif seems to have stepped out of his comfort zone to become the 'Tamncho ke Raja'.

In the first trailer of the Tigamshu Dhulia film, we see Saif Ali Khan as a goon with a moral cause as he says 'Brahmin if well read is Chanyaka and when angered is Ravan'.

Saif Ali Khan's role as a rustic, rugged Raja Mishra in 'Bullett Raja' seems close to that of Langda Tyagi in 'Omkara'.

'Bullett Raja' trailer also shows Saif Ali Khan romancing actress Sonakshi Sinha on the streets of Kolkata. The actress, who has essayed a Bengali character in her last release 'Lootera', looks pretty in a traditional red-bordered Bengali sari.

Actor Jimmy Shergil, last seen on screen in 'Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster Returns', plays Saif Ali Khan's partner in crime and a close friend in the film.

'Commando' actor Vidyut Jamwal steps into the role of a tough cop, a role that was to be essayed by Irrfan Khan.

The actor, who has also choreographed his own action sequences in the film, makes a very special appearance in the film.

In the 'Bullett Raja' trailer we are also introduced to the film's anti-heroes - suave Gulshan Grover and cross-dresser Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan.

The trailer is all about the action one can expect from a Tigmanshu Dhulia film. 'Bullett Raja' is slated to release on November 29 this year.

Watch trailer here:

First poster: Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif in 'Dhoom: 3'

Yash Raj Films have finally released the motion poster of this year's much-awaited film 'Dhoom: 3' featuring the entire cast - Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif along with Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.

The motion poster starts off with some high-flying bike stunts that appear to be taking Chicago by storm.

Next, we have an introduction of all the characters – Abhishek Bachchan as Inspector Jai Dixit, Uday Chopra as Ali, Aamir Khan, who is heard to be playing a double role in the film and lead actress Katrina Kaif, sizzling in a pair of hot shorts and a bikini top.

The 'Dhoom' franchise that began in 2004 had John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan playing the baddies respectively.

Written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, 'Dhoom 3' is produced by Aditya Chopra and slated to release on December 20 this year.

Imam Siddique uses Facebook to say ‘Time Out’ to Salman Khan

“Time out” man Imam Siddique, the ‘Bigg Boss 6’ contestant who had annoyed mostly every participant with his presence including the host, superstar Salman Khan. Now Siddique is back with his defiant tactics to irk Salman Khan once again. As he is infamous for his verbal spat, Imam took to the social networking giant Facebook to write about Salman’s deep involvement in the show.

His FB page read:

"F.Y.I: to whomsoever this may concern. Mr. Salman Khan has stated in an interview that I had no work prior to Bigg boss hence was frustrated. Factually inaccurate.”

It further read, “As a matter of fact, it was me that Salman had hired as a choreographer for a film that he was acting in and producing before he signed his first ever feature film. The actress was none other than my dear friend Ericca De Sousa Vohra & the co producer-director was Mishal Varma. Incidentally I have yet to be paid for that assignment. After this first ever unpleasant experience in #bollywood, I realised I ‘n e v e r’ wanted to work in bollywood.”

“Another point that I’d like to clarify is that I was called for bigg boss season 1 as a casting director, by Mr. Arjun Menon but since I was already on contract with Eskimo models at the time I turned them down. Every year since, I have been approached for the seasons but constantly declined.
Last year because I was told it would be a parivarik family oriented show I decided to agree to go in as a wild card entry. Yes I did message Salman because I saw that contestants in the house were disrespecting the platform and the opportunity. Claiming that they could make Rs 50 lakhs in a couple of projects and need not have to suffer the indignity of 72 hours of physical labour due to a task that too on the auspicious occasion of dhanteras. I messaged Salman to say that they had hired incompetent idiots who did not deserve to be there and I was keen to go. Over to you Mr. Khan.”

After the winner of the last season of ‘Bigg Boss’ was announced, Imam was quoted as saying, “It (argument) was unpleasant and unwarranted. I think I should have done a reality check. He is a bigger superstar. I am ashamed of it. But I don`t regret it.”

As earlier on the misbehavior of Imam Siddique, Salman has warned him for not trying these tactics on him again but now it would be interesting to see how the Dabangg reacts on the whole.

Meanwhile, the seventh edition of the show is live on the national television luring maximum eyeballs from all across world.

"There is a phrase in English 'Mind your own business'," Ranbir Kapoor replied.

The 'Barfi!' actor and Katrina Kaif recently made headlines when

their pictures while holidaying together in Spain were published.

"When pictures get published, you only inform... What should I say," he said.

Actor Rajat Rawail eliminated from 'Bigg Boss 7'

After struggling with his health throughout his stay in the Bigg Boss house, Rajat 'Tsunami' Rawail makes his way out of the 'Bigg Boss 7' house

Rajat’s exit comes as a relief to not only him, but also his fellow contestants who have been worried about his wellbeing, especially over the past week. Rajat entered the ‘Bigg Boss 7’ house with the mission to make everyone laugh and get a physique much like Akshay Kumar to impress his young daughter. But due to his bad health he was unable give his best on the show.

Rajat entered the house with much enthusiasm and got along with everyone in the house. His funny one-liners and ‘funny message’ t-shirts remained his trademark whilst inside the house. During the first few days Rajat took active participation in the household chores and performed all the tasks diligently.

He found his support in Shilpa and was seen opening up to her whenever he felt low or depressed. Everybody in the house including Tanisha, Arman and Sangram have tried multiple ways to cheer him up every time Rajat would feel low.

Speaking on his exit, Rajat said, “I had come to Bigg Boss with lots of things in my mind. But unfortunately I couldn’t give my best shot due to poor health. My biggest strength in life is my daughter and I am glad that I could make her happy and proud of me with my participation in this show.” We wish Rajat a speedy recovery and best wishes for the future!!!

Salman Khan at No. 3, scores on his charisma

Credibility of the Salman Khan brand seems to be getting stronger by the year as he ranks 3rd in the Screen Annual Survey 2013 about Bollywood brands.

A talk about brand building now seems incomplete without a mention of Salman Khan.

Be it in a survey or at a panel discussion on the same. From being dropped as a hot potato by brands, he's now one of the most sought star to endorse a product in the past four years.

Also read: Amitabh Bachchan tops Screen Survey 2013, has the biggest brand value

12 per cent in the Screen Annual Survey 2013 rate him as the third biggest brand in Bollywood, three steps ahead of even his buddy, Aamir Khan (9%).

Unlike Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan, it's tough to get this Khan to decode his brand appeal and yet he might as well qualify to be the Spin Doctor of Bollywood. His star client: himself!

Also read: Amitabh Bachchan tops Screen Survey 2013, Shah Rukh Khan at No. 2

What seem to work for Salman are qualities like fitness (37%), energy (12%), bold (7%), good looks and charm (7%) and social awareness (6%).

While he remains the undisputed 'Bod' of Bollywood (37%), he is also seen as a man who works hard (4%), is intelligent (4%) and takes risks (3%).

The last may have more to do with Salman Khan as a person than any experimental works on screen.

He's unapologetic about the kind of films he works in, which are typical masala fare. And yet, 16 per cent see the actor as the third best ambassador to represent Bollywood on a global platform, two steps ahead of Aamir Khan again.

Screen Survey 2013: Katrina Kaif is the woman on top

The beauteous Katrina Kaif continues to mesmerise as an actress with the biggest brand value.

It took a foreigner to take Bollywood by storm and make it to the big heap. From a slow start in Boom to the highest position in Dhoom 3, Katrina Kaif's journey has been nothing short of a fairy tale.

The question of Screen Annual Survey 2013 in this category was which living actress of Hindi cinema has the biggest brand value, and the results pegged the dazzling Katrina Kaif on top with 26 per cent votes in her favour.

It was not surprising that Katrina Kaif topped as the numero uno heroine with the biggest brand value, but it was still revelatory that despite so many more actresses making inroads into tinsel-town and establishing themselves as brands, she made it to the top yet again.

The actress has built her brand slowly and steadily. Despite a disastrous start with Boom and a poor command over Hindi, Katrina Kaif got noticed for her glamour quotient as the leading lady in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and Humko Deewana Kar Gaye.

Katrina Kaif soon found her a footing in Bollywood with several hits like Namaste London, Partner, Race and Singh Is Kingg.

However, it was with Kabir Khan's New York that the actress got noticed for her acting skills, something she followed up with films like Raajneeti, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Jab Tak Hain Jaan.

Though the reviews to her acting ability have been mixed, Katrina Kaif's intriguing mix of beauty, energy, hard work and dedication have established her as a brand to reckon with. Couple this with the fact that she is one of the most-in-demand face for several multinational brands like Panasonic, Pantene, Titan which has made a formidable brand that she is. Kaif is also an inspiration for several wannabes from all over the world, who dream of Bollywood as their destination.

Salman Khan Turns Producer

Salman Khan is all set to don the producer's hat. The actor will begin his new role early next year.

Salman will be producing the remake of Subhash Ghai's 1983 blockbuster, Hero.

The original Hero had then-newcomers, Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri, in lead roles.

"Yes, I'm very happy that Hero is being remade, and Salman Khan and his team will certainly do a good job. The film will be directed by Nikhil Advani and it will go on floors by early 2014," IANS quotes Ghai.

Reportedly, the makers have signed on Aditya Pancholi's son Sooraj and Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya to play the leads.

First Look: Kangana Ranaut as 'Rajjo'

'Rajjo' is a love story set against the backdrop of the dying Kothas of Mumbai that nurtured the traditional art of singing and dancing for centuries.

The story’s central characters are Rajjo (Kangana Ranaut), a Muslim girl and Chandu (Paras Arora), a young Brahmin boy. When Chandu helps his team win a cricket match, the team decides to celebrate the victory by visiting the Kothas of Nagpada. This is where Chandu meets Rajjo who mesmerizes him with her powerful Mujra dance. For Chandu, it is love at first sight.

Chandu belongs to a family of music lovers; he is a very good harmonium player, his mother is a Bhajan singer. Rajjo is trained under Kothewali Amma; she is naughty, sweet and quite attractive. Music is the common thread between them, as is the strong attraction that draws Rajjo and Chandu together and seals their love.

Simultaneously the Nagpada area goes under the clutches of re-development and all the dancers and singers are under the shadow of this potential danger. Amidst these circumstances, Rajjo and Chandu have to deal with Begum (Mahesh Manjrekar) who runs the Kotha and Hande Bhau (Prakash Raj), a corporator with powerful political connections who has his eye set on Rajjo. With everything working against them, will Rajjo and Chandu’s love be able to triumph against all odds?

'Rajjo', which also stars Prakash Raj, Mahesh Manjrekar and Jaya Prada, marks the directorial debut of Vishwas Patil, a well known writer and winner of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi National Award. The music has been composed by Uttam Singh of 'Gadar' and 'Dil To Pagal Hai' fame.

Lead actress Kangana Ranaut is very confident about 'Rajjo' and she is happy that the film is releasing during the festive season.

"'Rajjo' is really close to my heart and I am glad it is being released this festive season. As for competition with other films, there would be one every week in any case. I am sure my producers are taking a good call and it comes from the trust and confidence they have in the product," she said.

Censor board orders change in Shahid dialogue

Young or old, two-minute noodles is one of the easiest and yummiest ways to fight hunger. An expert suggests tips to enhace noodles flavour.

The members of CBFC felt that the dialogue- “Apne aap ko jihadiyon ka Gandhi samajhta hain? (Do you consider yourself the Gandhi of jehadis?) might hurt people`s sentiments. Therefore `Gandhi` has been replaced with `Masiha`, said a statement.

The trailer of the movie is running successfully online as it doesn`t come under censorship but it will only appear on television channels after the required changes are made.

“Yes, the information is correct. We have been told to make changes in the dialogue and it has been changed for the TV promo. We totally understand the censor board’s point of view," Mehta said.

Coming out Oct 18, the movie is based on the true story of slain human rights activist and lawyer Shahid Azmi, who was killed in 2010 by unidentified assailants in his office. It stars actor Raj Kumar in the lead role.

Bigg Boss 7: Will Rajat Rawail evicted from Bigg Boss

Rajat will be seen going through depression in the upcoming episode of Bigg Boss 7

It looks like the atmosphere inside the Bigg Boss house is not in favour of Rajat Rawail. Lately the producer-actor has been facing a lot of health issues and has been missing his daughter. Moreover, lack of food inside the mad cap house also is another reason for Rajat’s never ending woes.

As a result, Rajat will be seen requesting Bigg Boss to let him leave house. Tanishaa Mukerji and Sangram Singh will be seen trying to console Rajat, but they will become a target of his frustration.

On the other hand, looking at Rajat crying and being depressed for hours, VJ Andy and Gauhar Khan start thinking that he is just acting to grab eyeballs.

Well, you never know. In the past, we have seen many contestants doing terrible things to attract attention. From Rakhi Sawant’s teary tamashaa to Dolly Bindra’s heated conversations with several housemates to Raja Chaudhary’s violent acts, we have seen it all. Now we really wonder, if this act of Rajat’s is real or just a publicity stunt? We will soon know the truth in today’s episode of Bigg Boss 7.

Keep watching this space for more updates.

The Good Road win the Oscar and make India proud?

Ever since the Gujarati film – and not The Lunch Box – was announced as India’s official entry for Best Foreign Film at the Academy Awards, there have been heated debates between B-town bigshots vociferously voicing their opinions – some pro, some anti – on Twitter. Who said what? We find out…

Making a relatively low budget but high on concept film called The Good Road (TGR), was indeed a task for debut director Gyan Correa. But the effort has paid off; the Gujarati film not only won a National Award, but is now India’s official entry to the Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language category. But not many are happy with the Film Federation of India’s announcement. After all, almost everyone who was interested expected Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox to make it to Los Angeles, especially since it was promoted by Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap.

Sanjay Gupta, Pritish Nandy, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and other big names are stunned with the Irrfan Khan-Nimrat Kaur starrer losing out to a relatively small film. Kashyap took to Twitter to share his disappointment soon after the announcement was made Saturday evening. “Feeling very very disappointed, can’t comment on the film I have not seen, but it better make it to final five. I feel like crying in desperate frustration and believe there were some very wise people on the jury. I don’t know who the federation is but it goes to show, why we completely lack the understanding to make films that can travel across borders. I hope and pray I am wrong and it actually is a film that knocks the socks off everyone.”

Kashyap’s co-producer Karan echoed his sentiments: “Really shocked and disappointed. The Lunchbox had every factor working in its favour…we may have just lost our golden chance….SAD!” Director-producer Sanjay Gupta tweeted, “It’s unfair that THE GOOD ROAD is being panned without being seen. THE LUNCHBOX is good but where is the guarantee that it would be selected?”

Sound designer Resul Pookutty tweeted, “It hasn’t sunk in me yet that #The Good Road is selected for the Oscars…! It was such a small film, we begged and borrowed in making it…” And there was more… “I’ve no idea how good the Gujarati film is, the one chosen for the Oscars. But I am sad #TheLunchbox missed out. It was ready with the buzz,” tweeted Pritish Nandy, while Javed Akhtar wrote, “Lunch box is one of this finest films India has ever produced. If sent undoubtedly it will bring an Oscar for the country.”

“I think now the film fraternity should collect lots of money and contribute to The Good Road…they need it to market the film well…let’s all join hands,” tweeted Shoojit Sircar.

The Good Road was selected over 21 other films, including Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Ship of Theseus, English Vinglish, Malayalam film Celluloid and Bengali movie Shabdo, Vishwaroopam and English Vinglish. Filmmaker Goutam Ghose, who chaired the committee to choose the final entry admitted that The Lunchbox was indeed a “strong contender”. But it did not make the cut.

Will Correa’s debut film make it to the top five at the Oscars and make India proud?

Hazel Keech becomes the first contestant to evicted from 'Bigg Boss 7'

The actress who comes from a British background managed to sail through the difficulties of hell and befriended almost everyone inside the house. Luck dealt Hazel a bad card when she found herself in the Jahannum house right from the get go.

Even though Hazel might have appeared to be a shy and docile person, she was one of the most enthusiastic people who gave her best for every task. In spite of facing a language barrier, Hazel was seen taking much effort in learning to talk in Hindi.

Always smiling Hazel found a great friend in fellow contestant Elli and was seen opening up to her quite often. Though she fell sick during her last few days inside the house, Hazel still continued to remain cheerful all the time.

Speaking on her exit Hazel said, ‘Bigg Boss has been a great experience and I will treasure it for rest of my life. It was quite easy for me to adapt to the place in spite of the limitations and it fortunately worked well for me. I met new people, made friends and also learnt that it is very important to have a positive energy when you are in the house.’

Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap heart-broken as THE LUNCHBOX out of Oscars

Filmmakers Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap were delighted when their film THE LUNCHBOX was being widely appreciated and were quite sure for it to be selected as India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language film at Oscars. However, to their surprise, THE LUNCHBOX lost out to Gyan Correa's Gujarati film THE GOOD ROAD at Academy Awards.

Irrfan Khan-Nimrat Kaur starrer THE LUNCH BOX was received well by both, the critics and the audience, thus making the filmmakers believe that the movie stands a chance to bag an official entry in the Oscars. But after the jury selected THE GOOD ROAD as the official entry, producers Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap were taken aback and expressed their anger and disappointment over it immediately through micro-blogging site.

While producer Karan Johar posted, ''Really shocked and dissapointed....#LUNCHBOX had every factor working in its favour...we may have just lost our golden chance....SAD!!!'', an angry Anurag Kashyap vehemently wrote, ''feeling very very disappointed, can't comment on the film i have not seen, but it better make it to final five. Anyway, disappointment and anger aside.. Now i feel like crying in desperate frustration.. and i believe there were some very wise people on the jury... anyway anger out.. getting back to music recording.. all the best to the winner ...''

Movie Review : The Lunchbox

Cast: Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Lillete Dubey, Bharti Achrekar, Nakul Vaid

Director: Ritesh Batra

Rating: *** 1/2

Beyond the adulation of the world press, the best thing about this bittersweet movie is its desi flavour that gives it a universal appeal.

Indian cinema ought to be proud of moments like these. The Lunchbox has been screened at various international festivals even before it's release in India.

But beyond the adulation of the world press, the best thing about this bittersweet movie is its desi flavour that gives it a universal appeal.

Ila (Nimrat Kaur), a housewife whose husband doesn't give her any attention, does her best to please him with her culinary skills. An 'aunty' (whose presence is only through a brilliant voice-over by Bharti Achrekar) helps her cook a delightful meal everyday.

The Lunchbox, however, finds its way to Saajan Fernandes' (Irrfan Khan) office due to a mistake by Mumbai's famous dabbawallahs.

Saajan, who is a widowed employee about to retire, is trying to deal with a new, smooth-talking assistant Aslam Sheikh (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who is hired to take his place after his retirement.

When Ila realises that the dabba isn't reaching her husband, she sends a letter in the lunch box. And thus begins a love story between the two. Saajan while trying to come to terms with this new development also forms a father-son kind of bond with Aslam over cigarette puffs and train rides.

If the delicious combination of Irrfan and Nawaz isn't enough, there's Nimrat, who's a brilliant find.

Not only is the movie about the characters, but it's also an excellent ode to Mumbai — the city of dreams. The fragile yet beautiful bonds that people create while battling their daily chores are known to most of us.

Irrfan is in top form here. Don't miss the scene right at the beginning where he is bent over his desk. He gets the body language bang on. The sadness in his eyes as he watches another family have dinner is haunting.

Nawaz matches the tempo Irrfan sets, especially with his comic timing. Bollywood sure owes him some interesting characters. Nimrat, as the housewife who is also trying to be a dutiful mother and daughter, lends spunk to a character that has difficult decisions to make.

Debutant director Ritesh Batra has a firm grip over the narrative. The director brings alive an era when love letters played a crucial role... probably something that people who are busy romancing over SMSes won't know about.

Ritesh, who is also the writer of the movie that has got thumbs-up from many filmmakers as the frontrunner as India's Oscar nominee, keeps the story simple without adding any melodrama to it.

At times, however, the scenes seem a little too long, but be patient and you won't have any complaints. The fact that it has garnered so much acclaim even before its release in India is something no one can ignore. This one may not please those looking for a masala flick, but is more than your money's worth.

But ensure that you eat well before you head for the movie, or else be prepared to deal with the hunger pangs everytime Irrfan opens The Lunchbox.

Kareena Kapoor's best 33 dialogues

On Kareena Kapoor Khan’s 33rd birthday, we bring you 33 of the most interesting, amazing and controversial things the actor has said over the years.

  1. Saif and I decided that we wanted to keep the purest part of our relationship sacred. We followed protocol by going out
on to the terrace and waving at the media after officially registering the marriage. (2013)

2. She said something about me and I retaliated...There was some misunderstanding which she wasn’t interested in clearing. That’s fine by me because she’s nowhere in competition with me. (On Preity Zinta, 2001)

3. We were in Ladakh to shoot Tashan. When I spotted him near the hotel pool, he was tanning on a lounge chair, clad in just jeans. I told my friend, “Oh my God… he’s so hot! (On her love story with Saif, 2012)

4. Trust me, Shahid and I have always spoken to each other whenever we meet socially. We have always been on cordial terms after our breakup. (2011)

5. I’ll most definitely marry Shahid. I’m not the kind to jump from one relationship to another. For me love is for keeps. (2006)

6. I’m not over-friendly with anyone, I don’t get into anyone’s personal space because I don’t want people to get into mine. I have a life outside of films. (2013)

7. That was long time back. I would love to host him someday and see him as our PM but definitely I do not want to date him. (on dating Rahul Gandhi, 2009 )

8. Sanjay Bhansali is a confused director. He is a person who does not stand by his word. He doesn’t have any morals and principles in life. (2002)

9. I do not mind being put behind the bars for killing any woman who dared have an eye on Shahid. (2004)

10. I might even decide not to have kids. I am just 32. And Saif already has two kids. We are not a typical Indian couple who get married just so they can have a child. (2013)

11. Yes, I’m arrogant, but only with what God has gifted me with — my talent and demeanour, which are raw materials for filmmakers to mould as they please. (2007)

12. We talk about progressive cinema, make tall claims. But when it comes to an actress getting married, we become regressive. We need to change our minds first before changing the genre of films that we plan to offer a married actress. (2012)

13. Mr Obama too should be discussing this wedding. I am sure he would know that Saif and Kareena are getting married. (2012)

14. I’m not at all a Salman fan. I don’t like him, he’s a very bad actor. I tell him that he hams all the time. Aamir’s good, I really liked him in Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and QSQT, but out of the Khans, I’m a total Shah Rukh fan. (2000)

15. I don’t know where this term of size zero came from, people called it that way (size zero). I became thin for Tashan. And that is because of Rujuta (her dietician), I followed her instructions. (2013)

16. Saif is a very responsible man and he knows his responsibility. I have never given him a chance to be possessive. He is quite liberal in his thinking. Possessive is a very wrong word in a way. I could be more possessive than Saif. (2013)

17. Kaho Na Pyaar Hai was made for Hrithik. His dad spent five hours on every frame and close-up of his, whereas not even five seconds were spent on Amisha. She just doesn’t look beautiful, but every shot of his was a dream. (2000)

18. I don’t think I can wake up as Deepika (Padukone) as I can’t relate to her. (2012)

19. My film-makers know I’m in a league of my own. Madhuri Dixit gave her first hit after nine years. Sridevi never had a historical hit. And yet they were the top actors because they were immensely talented. The same goes for me too. (2002)

20. Saif is free to work with whoever he wants. Usually I don’t even know who his co-star is because we don’t discuss these things. I don’t have any problems with his co-stars. (2011)

21. My wedding has become a Rajya Sabha debate. (2012)

22. I am the 100 crore heroine. (2011)

23. Please keep me at number 100, as I don’t want to be part of this number game, but yes, I know I deserve what I’ve got, and I’ve really worked hard for it. I am proud to say that I was competing with myself to up those numbers. (2011)

24. I’m not besotted with married men nor will I have affairs with them. Married men will be detrimental to my career. Ask the producers, directors, distributors why all of them are hell-bent on signing Dugu and me together. Because we are a hot pair. (2001)

25. Heroine is bigger than Fashion (Taking a dig at Priyanka Chopra, 2012)

26. Marriage has nothing to do with the kind of roles or such things... I fail to understand why people associate love or marriage with your career. (2013)

27. Flops ka bhi apna mazza hai. I am what I am because of my flop films. (2012)

28. I don’t want the national award… I seriously don’t need any such thing. I would only want the audience to go and watch the film once and that will be more than enough for me.  (2012)

29. It is very unfair to compare us, we’re from two different generations. (On Aishwarya Rai, 2012)

30. Men are gutless, they cheat on their women. But it’s  more frustrating when they don’t own up to the woman they love. (2001)

31. If I found out that my man is unfaithful, there’d be no tears, no shor-sharaba, I’d just slaughter him. (2001)

32. Do I need this kind of publicity? Am I nuts? Grandpa (Raj Kapoor) believed even bad publicity is good publicity. But that was another era.. I think all the rumours will soon become boring. (on her break up with Shahid Kapoor being a publicity stunt for Jab We Met, (2007)

33. I begin the day by doing yoga and that has really helped. Thanks to Shahid (Kapoor) I have turned a vegetarian that has further enhanced my physique. (2007)

Shahrukh Khan says Dubai is like his second home and also an integral part of his next film Happy New Year with director Farah Khan.

Filmmaker Farah Khan, who is shooting in Dubai for Happy New Year, Thursday said the city is not only a location, but a character in the film.

"We haven't chosen Dubai to shoot the film... it is Dubai that has chosen us. Dubai is an integral part in the film. Dubai is a character in the film and not just a city. It’s a beautiful location and the culture you have here, it is not there anywhere else," Farah Khan told reporters during a press conference here.

The conference was to announce collaboration with Dubai Film and TV Commission and other Dubai government entities to simplify the entire filmmaking process.

On his part, Shahrukh Khan said: "Dubai is my second home... I enjoy the most here with my children. It was my dream to shoot for a film here and I am glad we are shooting here."

The shooting of "Happy New Year" which started on Sep 2nd here will perhaps continue till Sep 25.

Ram Leela first trailer: Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone

The chemistry the actors share in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new costume drama is obvious

Raw, charismatic and unapologetically colourful, the lead pair of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new musical saga looks really promising

It is difficult to pinpoint the one factor that has us giddy-thrilled with the trailer of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new drama Ramleela. But what looks promisingly entertaining about this finely crafted promo of a desi Romeo and Juliet saga is the pairing of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.

The rustic texture of the movie coupled with fiery dialogue loaded with cusswords, the brilliant cinematography and oodles of colour unleashed to highlight the explosive chemistry between his lead actors is stunning. Bhansali portrays a tale that seems hatke, out of the usual filmi box. While Ranveer looks every bit the dashing dude with raw charisma and huge sex appeal, Deepika is all set to give yet another power-packed performance in an avatar that completely contrasts with her urban privileged girl act in so many movies that she has done.

Ranveer plays Ram, the local village romeo, a dramatic vagabond who is ready to take on the whole world for his ladylove Leela. She is a fiery and fearless Gujarati belle, played passionately by Deepika. When the two see each other for the first time, there are fireworks – worlds collide, wars are fought and destinies are written in blood….forever.

Bhansali as producer and director employs his typically operatic style of cinema-making to portray a raw, rustic and seemingly absolutely kickass love story set against the magnificently beautiful backdrop of rural Gujarat. ‘Love is at war’ roars the tagline and the two lovers definitely justify the battle with their sizzling chemistry. Sparks fly, passion sizzles and fires rage within and without as the two live their story. Take a look the trailer and tell us what makes this saga tempting enough to savour! Of course, you will have to wait until November 15 to watch the film….

“Deepika’s role in ‘Cocktail’ is very glamorous, but is also a great performance role. I would go for whatever gives me scope to perform,” she said.

Michael Jackson wanted to achieve movie stardom, reveals secret diary

Michael Jackson wanted to achieve movie stardom in a bid to immortalise his fame, according to a secret diary that he kept before his death.

The King of Pop, who died at the age of 50 just weeks before a much-hyped comeback concert tour in 2009, wanted to become more famous than legendary dance and film stars Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, reported New York Post.

"If I don't concentrate (on) film, no immortalization. (I want to be) better than Kelly and Astaire .?.?. the greatest ever," Jackson wrote in his diary months before his death.

The pop star wanted to be "in the likes of Chaplin Michelangelo Disney. These men Demanded Perfection Innovation (sic) always."

Jackson even planned to partner with American Idol creator Simon Fuller to help him break into movies.

"Develop... 2 a year for 6 years .?.?. a movie a year for the next 5 years. Simon Fuller .?.? call Fuller myself (sic)." Jackson's family is currently in court fighting against concert promoter, AEG, claiming the entertainment giant didn't do enough to prevent his death.

The family's lawyers want Jackson's writings admitted into evidence to prove that AEG was careless about his well-being.

AEG, meanwhile, claims that the papers have no date and not much can be made out from his scribbles.

Jackson's other ambitious career plans included creating a Broadway play about his life so he could become the "first multi-billionaire entertainer-actor-director." He also wanted to launch a line of soda and cookies.

The private papers also throw light on Jackson's drug problem and include references to his personal physician Conrad Murray, who was convicted of manslaughter for giving the insomniac singer lethal doses of anesthesia that finally killed him.

"Conrad must practice now. I can't be tired after procedure to important Rim sleep (sic)," he wrote.

Spotted: Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone shooting on a skating rink for HNY

The shooting of Happy New Year continues uninterrupted as Shahrukh Khan has landed back in Dubai after a brief getaway to London for a special wedding appearance.

The superstar Khan was spotted on a skating rink filming what looks like a romantic song along with his heroine Deepika Padukone. The two obviously had the skates on and, as onlookers say, had only a few fumbles on the rink.

The shooting too progressed at a skating pace with only a handful of retakes. Shahrukh Khan was seen striking his usual arms-outstretched pose though he obviously didn’t pull off the popular skating spread-eagled move.

The superstar has been in rather pensive mood lately and has been tweeting his hefty thoughts. One tweet reads, “Sometimes you have to just let the moment fall quietly. Place your hand underneath and it will come to rest on your palm as if it were meant to.”

Deep stuff?

Also spotted on the sets was Abhishek Bachchan in a rather gaudy outfit.

Happy New Year is being directed by Farah Khan. Her husband Shirish Kunder has, to the relief of the fans of good cinema, kept himself detached from the movie so far.

Catch the stills from the Dubai sets of the film.

Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother Ishaan eyes Bollywood!

Look who is gearing up for a Bollywood entry! It’s Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother Ishaan. The actor is a doting bro to his half-brother Ishaan Khattar, and is apparently also helping him to plan his big career moves.

For now, Ishaan is learning dancing from Shahid’s dance master Shiamak Davar. It’s also heard that the teenage boy is getting physically trained by the actor's personal trainer, and has lately been sporting a beefed-up look.

Recently, when Shahid Kapoor was shooting with Sonakshi Sinha in Bhuj and later in Cape Town for Rambo Rajkumar, Ishaan accompanied his brother during his dress trials.

Acting is in Ishaan’s genes as both his parents, mother Neelima Azeem and father Rajesh Khattar are actors, but his inspiration is bade bhaiyya Shahid Kapoor.

The boy has completed his schooling and has started his college.

Box Office report: 'Shuddh Desi Romance' scores, 'Zanjeer' flops!

Shock and awe for director Apoorva Lakhia as his Zanjeer remake bit the dust at the box office in the opening weekend. The failure looks all the more glaring in the face of the good run of Shuddh Desi Romance.

So much for star power. Zanjeer, starring Priyanka Chopra and introducing Ram Charan Teja (already a star downsouth) had such a disappointing run at the box office that it would most likely be taken off many of the 2086 screens it released on.

The box office figures of Zanjeer (Hindi version) are embarrassing to even quote. The film opened slow on Friday (Rs. 3.58 crore net), slid down on Saturday (Rs. 2.89 crore net) and recovered only marginally on Sunday (Rs. 3.69 crore net). With the opening weekend figures hovering just a little above Rs. 10 crore, the film can safely be tagged as a FLOP.

Shuddh Desi Romance, starring Parineeti Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput and Vaani Kapoor, had an excellent run in the opening weekend, despite releasing on just 1050 screens.

The film opened well on Friday (Rs. 6.45 crore net), and only went up on Saturday (7.90 crore) and Sunday (8.92 crore) to register the opening weekend collection of Rs. 23.27 crore net. The film is on its way to be a HIT.

The next week would see the release of Grand Masti, Horror Story and John Day.

'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein': First look

Here comes the first look of Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. The Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu couple is back for yet another romantic comedy, and this time their love story is set in a village, not Las Vegas.

The poster shows Imran Khan in an angrezi babu look, trying to woo the desi girl Kareena Kapoor with his impish charm. But is the girl impressed? Doesn’t seem so! Imran Khan plays a US-returned guy, and that explains his suave look on the poster, while Kareena in desi avatar is a gaon ki gori whom the NRI guy falls for, and that explains the title -- Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.

Director Puneet Malhotra loved the unconventional pairing of Imran and Kareena in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) as the actor is younger to Kareena and had relatively less experience than the star actress. Thus, he wanted both of them in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, and producer Karan Johar made sure that the film gets the best cast.

Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan start shooting 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein'

The movie is the first film that Kareena Kapoor signed after her marriage to Saif Ali Khan. In the movie, she has mostly donned ethnic outfits, which will remind her fans of the movies Jab We Met and Bodyguard -- both the movies had her flaunting lovely kurtis. Complementing her is Imran Khan as a dapperly-dressed man in the movie. Being debonair suits him.

The movie is also a love triangle, and actress Shraddha Kapoor, too, is a part of the film. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is releasing November 22.

Movie Review: 'Shuddh Desi Romance'

Film: Shuddh Desi Romance

Cast: Parineeti Chopra, Sushant Singh Rajput, Vaani Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor

Director: Maneesh Sharma

Rating: ***

Once again, a romantic triangular love story in the style of old-fashioned Bollywood films. But, it is obvious as the film is made under the Yash Raj Films banners. The characters in director Maneesh Sharma’s sweet and tangy romantic caper Shuddh Desi Romance are prone to bolting from the wedding mandap. Falling in love, for them, is easy. “Control-se-baahar wala attraction” drives them into relationships -- both platonic and live-in -- but when it comes to the crunch and taking that relationship to the next level with saat pheras and nuptial vows, they baulk, and sneak out for a loo break and -- you guessed it -- bolt. Bolt into a new relationship and new phobias of commitment.

The vagaries of the heart are delightfully depicted in Shuddh Desi Romance, set in Jaipur and among the characters that we all can easily relate to.

There’s Raghu (Sushant Singh Rajput) a tourist guide who wears his naive heart on the sleeve but is struck with the fear of lifelong commitment on his wedding night to the pretty and demure Tara (Vaani Kapoor). So he slinks out for a loo break to answer his commitment phobe heart’s call and -- as explained above -- vanishes.

Out goes Tara and in comes Gayatri (Parineeti Chopra), a spunky girl who’s seen all and done all the hanky-panky stuff of relationships and even had an abortion she is unapologetic about. And when this live-in relationship between Gayatri and Raghu heads to the wedding mandap, the tables are turned and it’s the bride’s turn to baulk and bolt.

Out goes Gayatri and in comes Tara again. But she has vendetta on her mind.

This game of musical chairs, this merry-go-round goes on between the three vacillators, and director Maneesh Sharma gently guides the tale to a conclusion that’s not entirely unpredictable but is engrossing nonetheless.

Shuddh Desi Romance is propped by the wonderful characters etched by writer Jaideep Sahni. Be it the goofy Raghu who expresses his feelings openly but is shy of admitting to neighbors his live-in relationship, or be it the outspoken, cigarette puffing, I-don’t-care-a-hoot Gayatri, or the composed, confident and yet demure Tara: the characters and their quirks add tons to take the story forward. There’s also the curiously droll and rotund wedding fixer (Rishi Kapoor) who’s amusingly resigned to the roving ways of the young generation.

One finds hardly anything to nitpick in the performances but a special mention for Parineeti Chopra for her effortless performance. She’s one hell of a natural actress. Vaani Kapoor holds her stead well and Sushant Singh Rajput does fine for his dithering, dil-phek Raghu.

Shuddh Desi Romance never wallows in the melodrama of romantic rejection and always keeps a room for humour that’s desi to its bone. The film does tend to go into a loop mode in the second half, but it never tests your patience in its 141 minutes of running time. It’s a light, frothy, quirky, sweet and tangy tale of romance and rejection, of live-in relationships and fear of commitment.

Eminently watchable.

Movie Reviews :'Zanjeer'

Film: Zanjeer

Cast: Ram Charan Teja, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Prakash Raj, Mahie Gill and Atul Kulkarni

Director: Apoorva Lakhia

Rating: **

Finally, an Amitabh Bachchan film’s remake has been crafted perfectly on screen. Unlike Ram Gopal Varma's remake of ‘Sholay’ and Karan Malhotra's ‘Agneepath’, the remake of Zanjeer resembles closely to the original concept.

Providentially, Lakhia's Zanjeer is neither slavishly reverent to the original material nor does it take off into weird wild and wacky tangents -- like the Rohit Shetty's recent remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's "Golmaal".

Rather, the new ‘Zanjeer’ opens up the original plot, weeds out the humbug and preserves the core of the revenge saga of an angry cop whose ire grows progressively higher as the plot moves through a series of cleverly conceived conflicts that accentuate his alienation from his khaki-colored line of duty.

No one can do to the sullen cop's role what Mr. Bachchan did. But yes, even in his new avatar, Inspector Vijay Khanna fumes, simmers and boils over with an indignant rage. Everything about the festering rotten 'system' makes him annoyed and churlish.

Since ‘Zanjeer’, and its more serious-toned country-cousin ‘Ardh Satya’, numerous cops have vented their cinematic spleen in films as far-ranging in quality as ‘Singham’ and ‘Policegiri’.

What makes Vijay Khanna in the new ‘Zanjeer’ special is the plot-mechanics which put him in time-worn situations, but subject him to dramatic dynamics that give the prototypical Angry Cop a renewed riveting life of violent score-settling.

This time the Angry Cop, who was played with such compelling candidness by Amitabh Bachchan in the original ‘Zanjeer’, is played by Ram Charan Teja is just a huge stroke of luck for the remake. Ram Charan brings in an entirely unique brand of silent satyagraha to his character. When we first see him on screen, he wallops a goonda-politician on a busy road of Hyderabad as a hoarding of Ram Charan's father Chiranjeevi's film looks down on the chaotic scene.

A version of "Raghupati raghav..." plays in the background as Ram Charan lets us know without wasting time, that he means business.

The pace from that hard-hitting moment is relentless. The momentum never slackens even when Vijay Khanna gets down to expressing tender thoughts for the fast-talking befuddled and disoriented NRI girl Mala. Playing Mala, Priyanka Chopra seems to have a whole lot of infectious fun. She spells joie de vivre and looks gorgeous. Priyanka is the comic relief in this fast-paced actioner where fists and the background point out an ominous warning.

Lakhia paces the proceedings as a rush-hour traffic of bustling events. No one has the luxury to stop and think as the narration gathers up a storm of pulpy conflicts building up to an exceptionally staged climax filmed amidst the volatile proceedings of a crowded Moharram event.

From the Ganpati Viasarjan to the Moharram, Lakhia's interpretation of "Zanjeer" traverses a mammoth canvas of rapid-fire images. Gururaj Jois's camera moves dexterously, but never to divert our attention from the central conflict. And Chintan Gandhi's dialogues use one-liners judiciously, never over-doing the smart-alec retorts.

The film's action, by Javed-Ejaz, feels and looks right. The attention paid to getting the action sequences right is highly commendable. There is an elaborately staged multiple-explosion sequence in a huge Dharavi-like slum which belongs to a Vin Diesel-starrer.

Sanjay Dutt steps splendidly into Pran's part. His sequences, though limited by the actor's physical unavailability, show the sensitive side to his aggressive personality. The bonding between Ram Charan and Dutt comes across as effectively as the one between Ram Charan and Priyanka and Prakash Raj and Mahie Gill.

And the momentum never slackens.

Fast-paced, and forever furious, "Zanjeer" also finds space to be excruciatingly funny. In fact, the whole villain-vamp equation between Teja (Prakash Raj) and Mona Darling (Mahie Gill) is here subverted to a kind of comic coitus interruptus where Prakash Raj repeatedly keeps talking about sex without getting down to it while 'Mona' Mahie Gill purrs and moans and pouts -- not out of passion but for just the opposite reasons.

The most tongue-in-cheek homage I've seen in a remake occurs in this film when we see the new Teja-Mona pair watching actor Ajit and Bindu in the original "Zanjeer" on a DVD. The sequence is irreverent without appearing to belittle the original. It reminds us of the renewed cycle of art and individual talent.

Throughout the film, we sense the director's immense affection for the original "Zanjeer", a reverence that never clouds his judgement.

Zanjeer, in short, is full paisa vasool and will give an amazing experience to the audience

Watch: Nargis Fakhri's item song Dhating Naach from Phata Poster Nikhla Hero

Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, who is riding high on the success of her latest release Madra Cafe, has turned an item girl for a new song Dhating Naach from Phata Poster Nikla Hero.

Nargis Fakhri is doing the typical latkas-jhatkas in her debut item song, which also features film's lead actor Shahid Kapoor.

Nargis looks smoking hot as she shimmies away in a black bling outfit revealing her toned body. Shahid, who plays a actor pretending to be a cop in the film, shows off his spectacular dance moves in a shirt and a sleevless jacket.

Written by Amitabh Bhattacharya, Dhating Naach is sung by Nakash Aziz, Neha Kakkad and features music by Pritam.

Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film also stars Ileana D'Cruz and is slated to hit screens on September 20.

Reason why Parineeti Chopra rejected roles opposite big stars

Actress Parineeti Chopra, who has worked with Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput, says she prefers to work with the new crop of actors rather than big stars.

The 24-year-old actress said she has rejected few projects opposite some of Bollywood's biggest stars because the routine song-and-dance films does not excite her.

"I have been offered a lot of films with many big actors but I have unfortunately declined them. I felt I did not have much to do. I will never do a usual film with song and dance, the character has to be important," she said in an interview.

"I don't want to do a film where I have a 10-minute role. Till now I have done films where my role is important. If I have a good script, then I will do it. I just don't want to be a heroine in the film," she said.

Parineeti Chopra says she is glad she made the right decisions at the right time and chose to stay away from typical Bollywood potboliers.

"There were lots of masala, action films that I could have done and earned money and roamed around different locations. But I chose not to do them. Those films have released and... I am glad I did not do them," she said.

"I can't name the projects. But I don't regret not doing those projects," said the actress.

Parineeti's last release was Habib Faisal's Ishaqzaade in 2012 which was a superhit and also won several awards including a special mention for her at the National awards.

"I did not sign a film for eight months. I was reading one script every two days... I had so many offers but every film was in the same genre. I could have accepted the offer and earned money and could have had five film releases but I choose not be repetitive," she said.

SRK back to work with Happy New Year

Shah Rukh is teaming up with Farah Khan again after Om Shanti OM.

It’s close to a month since the release of Chennai Express (CE), but Shah Rukh Khan showed no signs of slowing down from promotions and then the celebration of his biggest hit. But now he has finally disembarked from CE to start his next film Happy New Year (HNY).

He began shooting for the film yesterday in Dubai. The actor says it was long overdue, “The schedule had to be postponed due to my injury (arm surgery).”

Also, there was a long hunt for the leading lady and the casting of HNY, till Deepika Padukone’s name was finally announced. He adds, “Yes, the film was not cast... We had intended to do that sooner. See, this is not a hero-heroine film. This is an ensemble cast, so it’s unfair to just talk about the lead pair, I think already unfair importance has been given to the heroine of the film, or the heroines of the film.”

He stresses that there is a lot more to this film than the lead pair, “I’d like the posters to come out and talk about it then. Because each character in the film, whether it is heroes or heroines or the villain, they are all equal. It’s  not a Shah Rukh Khan starrer with an X or Y heroine. That’s why I am a little reluctant to talk about it. It’s unfair otherwise since it’s a film with six people, who are equal in the film. And the film will work if the six are fantastically mounted. New, old, young, top heroine it should be mounted like that, so I am waiting for one or two more of the cast to be finalised. We are in the middle of it now.”

But there’ve been too many speculations about the leading lady of this film, which is usually not the norm... He interrupts, “Not usually? With my films it’s always been the case. How many films now even for Chennai Express... Every heroine was a part of it...”

When asked if he has any favourite heroines, he says, “No, and I have never suggested actresses names ever in my entire career. Whatever my director suggests, I say ‘yes’ to that. Whether it’s Katrina, Deepika, Priyanka, Kareena, Rani, Preity... I have worked with all of them. I never suggest or ‘unsuggest’ a heroine for my film. But if they ask for feedback, I welcome them on board as a producer. But the call is never mine as an actor.  I talk to the actresses post them coming on board, post narration. Not just actresses, even with Abhishek (Bachchan), I went to his house only after he was finalised for the film.”

Ileana D'Cruz to star opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's next

Bollywood actor Ileana D'cruz is all smiles these days. The beauty, who will be seen in Phata Poster Nikla Hero romancing Shahid Kapoor, confirmed a leading Marathi daily that she will be starring opposite 'the Salman Khan' in Sooraj Barjataya's next.

The daily had quoted her as saying, "Yes, I'll be starring opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's upcoming film. He will be directing a film after almost 8 years and I'm glad he chose me to be a part of it."

Salman and Sooraj have worked together in 3 movies- 'Maine Pyaar Kiya', 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' and 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'.

'Maine Pyaar Kiya' and 'Hum Aapke Hain Kaun' turned out to be the biggest hits of 80s and 90s respectively. While 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' also turned out to be the highest grosser of 1999.

Kareena expresses desire to work with Ranbir

Begum of 'Nawab of Pataudi', Kareena Kapoor Khan, who has worked with, almost all Khans, now expresses her desire to work with Ranbir Kapoor. Kareena, who is Ranbir's cousin, in real life, wants to play her sister on the silver screen, too.

Initially, Zoya Akhtar, approached Bebo and Casanova for a movie and offered to play brother-sister on screen but the duo was preoccupied with their busy schedules because of which, they couldn't make it happen.

Well, we hope, we get to see gorgeous Kareena and the chocolate boy, together on screen, soon.

Kareena is currently shooting for 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein', where she will be placed opposite, Imran Khan. Whereas, Ranbir is currently filming for,'Bombay Velvet' opposite Anushka Sharma.
