First Trailer: Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Bhoothnath Returns’

Ghosts can be funny when they set to out scare the kids, and can be serious when they set out to right the wrong and teach the bad guys a lesson. Amitabh Bachchan does all that and more in the upcoming film Bhoothnath Returns.

The megastar is the butt of jokes as Bhoothnath in the afterworld because he wasn’t able to scare a kid on earth in the first movie Bhoothnath. So in this sequel he’s sent back to the world of the mortals to scare as many kids as possible to clear his name and earn his stripes as a ghost.

But what happens back on earth? “Yaar, yeh bhoot itna funny kyon hota hai!” kids wonder when Bhoothnath yet again fails to scare them.

Kids unperturbed, Bhoothnath finds a purpose for his earthly visit when he sees a corrupt politician (Boman Irani) who thinks “election toh circus ki tarah hota hai”. Guess what happens next? Bhoothnath decides to fight the election against this corrupt man and teach him a good lesson or two in the process.

OMG! When Amitabh Bachchan bit the dust!

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Bhoothnath Returns has Amitabh Bachchan not just doing comedy but also showing some of his signature dance steps. The film will also have special appearances from Ranbir Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan.

Bhoothnath Returns is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Renu Ravi Chopra. The film is presented by T-series and B R Chopra. It is slated to release on April 11, 2014.

Did Sunil Grover In 'Mad In India', So Manish Paul To Quit?

The makers of the show have decided to have more of Sunil Grover in the latest version of Mad In India, which also means that the other host of the show, Manish Paul, might get lesser screen time as a result. Is this the reason why the rumours about Manish Paul quitting Mad In India circulating?

Mad In India's first episode managed to get the audience successfully disappointed! Both with the content and the concept on the whole. The reason might be that there had been undue expectations from the show, as well as, the fact that the show looked a lot like an exaggerated version of Kapil Sharma's Comedy Nights With Kapil.

Following the response, the makers of the show got to work on damage control. They decided to give what people want to see. Which is Gutthi, no Chutki, no Sunil Grover. Thus came the issue with Manish Paul.

Mad In India, though portrayed as Sunil Grover's show is actually co-hosted by Manish Paul. And the changes that are done post two episodes, where Sunil shared screen space with Manish, will have more of Sunil and less of Manish.

Could this be the reason why there are rumours saying Manish Paul wants to quit the show? Let's wait and watch.

Shahrukh Khan-Kajol To Unite in DDLJ Remake

Iconic romantic pair of Bollywood Kajol and Shahrukh Khan is going to reunite for the blockbuster, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Lejayenge’ remake. The movie will be made under the direction of Aditya Chopra. Aditya is keen to remake the romantic saga of YRF but what sounds bit disheartening is that Kajol and Shahrukh won’t be seen full-length in the movie. They will be playing a cameo.

A source informed, "Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol (who starred in the original) will be seen in cameo roles, but won’t share screen space".

Aditya has cast debutantes for the remake of DDLJ. He has reportedly roped in TV actor Farhan Khan (Chhanchhan) and Mahika Sharma will play the iconic role of Raj and Simran. Unlike the original, the remake will be shot in Swiss Alps but the young couple will romance in Malaysia.

The source further adds, "The makers are planning to shoot a song in Malaysia."

Apart from the main protagonists, Boman Irani and Paresh Rawal will step into the role of Anupam Kher and Amrish Puri, respectively. The remake will tentatively titled, ‘Dulhaniya Chali Dilwale Ke Sath’.

"The working title is Dulhaniya Chali Dilwale Ke Sath, and Adi Chopra will be directing it. The name is subject to change, depending on the lyrics of the title song," the source says.

A source associated with the project said that there will be certain twist in the story to suit the present audience.

However, Rafique Gangjee, the spokesperson of Chopra’s production house, denied the news.

Sanjay Dutt’s parole extension irks Nana Patekar

The versatile actor has never acted with Sanju baba in 22 years and promises to boycott all his future films
Notwithstanding the support of Bollywood bigwigs to Sanjay Dutt, Nana Patekar slammed the extension of parole to the jailed actor, saying he would never work with the convicted star.

The 63-year-old actor said the least he can do is boycott the films that Dutt stars in. “I have not worked with him in 22 years of my career, I will not work with him in future too,” said the actor.

“Government will do whatever they want. They are saying that it is legal, you can’t say anything about it. But I will do whatever is in my hands,” he added. Dutt, 54, was convicted by the Supreme Court for illegal possession of arms in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case and was sentenced to six years of imprisonment.

He had earlier served 18 months of jail and had surrendered himself before a Mumbai court on May 18, 2013 to serve the remaining period of his imprisonment. “You will watch his films and make him a hero and later you say he shouldn’t get parole. Things don’t work like that. What can I do? Who will listen to me? People think he is only an actor. I am also a common man but who will consider that,” Patekar said.

Patekar had spoken out against Dutt even at the time of his sentencing, saying he should not be given a favourable treatment for being an actor. Dutt has drawn flak for getting parole of almost 100 days during his current jail term.

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor sizzle in ‘2 States’ first trailer

The trailer of 2 States has arrived with a bang! The fans of the novel were eagerly waiting to see the reel-life Ananya and Krish and here they are. Alia Bhatt as the Tam-Brahm girl and Arjun Kapoor as the Punjabi geek are all set to woo the audiences. Let’s see what makes 2 States a hatke love story.

The trailer begins with a scene where Arjun Kapoor shares his problem with a psychiatrist and tells viewers the mantra of life -- duniya mein shaadi karne ke liye sabse jyada zaroori kya hota hai?... pyaar.

Then follow a brisk rush of scenes showing how a bespectacled Krish falls in love with the most stunning girl of his college, Ananya. The love-making scenes between Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor do spice up the trailer.

Adapted from Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel, the movie 2 States is not without Bollywood tadka. Some of the funniest lines from the book have even made it to the movie as witty one-liners. Watch out for Arjun Kapoor as Krish when he mutters silently in front of Ananya’s father: mooh toh aise bana rahe they jaise main aunty pe chance mar raha hoon. Also, check out Alia when she tells Arjun: tragedy is the new cool. Howzzat!

If the boy and girl are in love their parents can’t bear the sight of each other. Amrita Singh as the feisty Punjabi mother of Krish is outspoken and hilarious, while Revathy is the amusing, well-mannered Tamil lady who openly taunts Krish’s family as typical Punjabi, uncultured people!

So, will the marriage of two cultures separate the two lovers? 2 States has a happy ending but before that a lot comes to pass. The regular naach gaana routine isn’t missing. Alia Bhatt will again dance like Radha, but this time to Bharatnatyam steps. Arjun is no bratty ‘Ishaqzaada’ or ‘Gunda’, rather a soft-spoken bank professional, just wanting to get married to the love of his life.

Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar, the movie is directed by Abhishek Varman, and will release on April 18. Catch Alia and Arjun in the trailer here:

Ritesh Batra’s The Lunchbox inspired by stories about housewives

The Lunchbox director tells us how he chose actors for his film and what inspired him to make a film like this
Back in 2007 Indian-American filmmaker Ritesh Batra had embedded with Mumbai’s ‘dabbawallas’ for a couple of weeks while trying to make a documentary about them, but instead ended up making The Lunchbox.

“I wanted to find personal stories from among them. Instead we became friends and they started telling stories about the housewives they would pick up lunchboxes from,” said Batra.

“I got more interested in that. So I abandoned the documentary and started writing this,” said the director, who has won the Best Debut Director prize at the prestigious 2014 Filmfare Awards for the film.

That was the genesis of the film set to release in New York and Los Angeles Friday after a stellar run at the world’s top film festivals including Cannes, Toronto, and Sundance where it met with rave reviews.

It then opens March 7 in San Francisco, Washington DC, Chicago and other major US cities. Batra never anticipated the way the film seems to have taken both India and the West by storm.

“You are just trying to be honest to every moment of the film,” he said. “It’s hard enough to make a film. To anticipate what it’s going to do later is just impossible.”

The story revolves around Ila, a young middle class Mumbai housewife, trying to win back her husband’s affections through his stomach and how a rare mistaken delivery in Mumbai’s famously efficient ‘dabba’ delivery system of lunchboxes, from homes to offices, connects her to a testy old widower (Irrfan Khan) through notes in the lunchbox.

“It was a very difficult role to cast,” said Batra, who after lots of auditions spread over several months, settled on Nimrat Kaur, a relatively unknown actor who had earlier appeared in a couple of TV commercials in India. Batra met Nimrat after seeing a couple of her plays at the recommendation of his casting director. “I had a great instinct about her, and when I met her the instinct grew stronger.”

And Nimrat turned out to be “just a great great fit for the part. She really inhabited the part,” said the director, who grew up in Mumbai and lives in New York. “I am really glad that we found her.”

For the lead character of Saajan and his office colleague Shaikh, “I always had Irrfan and Nawazuddin Siddique in mind and I was thrilled when they came on board,” he said.

Nawazuddin’s character was always part of the screenplay, Batra said, but “He just became more and more important as I kept writing.”

As for his technical crew “everything was sort of an educated choice to achieve a specific objective.” he said.

Except for the cinematographer(Michael Simmonds)and the editor, largely the crew is from Bombay, “because there is a huge thriving industry here”.

“It was important for me have the cinematographer from New York because he can see things that I can’t see being from here. So it was very important to have a foreign eye.”

“The editor (John Lyons) is someone I trust and always wanted to work with.”

Batra has no immediate plans for a new film. With The Lunchbox set to release in US then in Hong Kong, Israel, UK, Japan, and Australia “I have a lot of commitments to the film for the next few months – lots of travelling.”

Satyamev Jayate 2 timed to coincide with polls, says teary Aamir Khan

It has been a little over a year since we saw Aamir Khan in his talk show host avatar on Indian television screens. However, he is all set to return to the small screen. With Satyamev Jayate 2 ready to premiere on 2 March, Khan disclosed a resolution he’d made for this second season: there would be less tears from the host himself.

Yet, a few minutes after chuckling about how “a section of people felt that I cried too much”, Khan was reduced to tears while recounting a story that was aired on the first season of Satyamev Jayate. Wiping his tears on the sleeve of his shirt, Khan quipped, “See? The channel didn't tell me to cry…”

After the success of the first season of Satyamev Jayate, Khan has been called the Oprah Winfrey of Indian television. People have also asked if he’s adopted the role of an activist. The actor is very clear about what he’s out to do with his television show. “I see myself as a communicator,” said Khan. “I think saying that I am a motivator or a changer is too audacious a statement. If I am able to change myself, that is a big thing. I am just trying to engage, understand and share.”

With multi channels tie-up and simulcast in seven different languages, Satyamev Jayate will reach nearly 600 million people in India, which means one in two Indians who own television will be listening to Khan the communicator. The actor isn’t shy of using Satyamev Jayate to raise socio-political issues that he feels need to be discussed. “If we want a healthy democracy, then internal vigilance is the price for it,” said Khan, who maintains that he has no interest in becoming a politician. “If you do not do that than you are letting go of your rights as a citizen.”

Khan admitted that the timing of the new season — it will run alongside the campaigns for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections — wasn’t a coincidence. In his own words, the show has been “timed well”. Satyamev Jayate seems to be reveling in its potential to impact and spark national debates. Considering the widespread reach of television programming today as well as the show’s stellar ratings in its first run, Khan may not be overstating Satyamev Jayate’s importance.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the show’s topics of discussion are echoed in political addresses. The possibility of aiding or abetting political rivalries doesn’t bother Khan because as far as he’s concerned, he’s simply providing information. “I have empowered you with so much of information,” he said. “What have you done with that?”

When asked to name the social issues closest to his heart, the actor said, “The two issues that I would like to support and endorse are empowerment of women and ‘the collective’. ” Explaining his choices, he said, “Women’s empowerment will be a game changer for our societies. Sociologically, a woman becomes the centre of the household and plays a very important role in a child’s life so by empowering women you empower a family, a society, a state and therefore a country.” By “the collective”, Khan is referring to developing a sense of solidarity and fraternity among Indians. “It is very important that we work in a team. Only when we work as a team or a collective do we all prosper,” he said.

A promo for season two shows Khan spotting honest men on the road (like the ones who don’t break traffic signal, even when no one’s watching) and saying that these are the kind of people who will watch the show. The show’s tagline this season is “Jinhe desh ki fikr hai” (“For those who care for the country), which makes you wonder: since when did watching television become a patriotic act?

This moral high ground of Khan and the makers of the show hasn’t made Satyamev Jayate any less commercial. The makers of the show may say Satyamev Jayate isn’t about revenues, but the truth remains that it’s yet another blockbuster Aamir Khan production. Each episode of the new season has reportedly cost Rs 6.2 crore (this includes Khan’s fee as well), which is the budget of a small film. The ad rates for Satyamev Jayate, which were already stratospheric, are up by 8-10 % this time around, reports Mint. The deal with title sponsor Bharti Airtel is being pegged at approximately Rs 18-20 crore and the Axis Bank deal is worth Rs 13 crore, adds the newspaper.

Cynics may say he is making a fortune shedding crocodile tears, but watching Khan talk about the show, how committed he is to it and what he hopes it will achieve, it’s impossible to doubt Khan’s credibility. He truly is moved by the stories that Satyamev Jayate has uncovered and as he talked about them, his throat frequently choked with emotion. It could have been a hammy sequence from a Bollywood film and perhaps it’s because we’ve seen so many bombastic performances in political rallies, but Khan doesn’t look like he’s acting.

Ajaz Khan gets movie offer from Rohit Shetty

After creating quite a furore at the Bigg Boss house, Ajaz Khan is busy whipping up a storm in Cape Town for Fear Factor with both his off and on camera hi-jinks.

While his presence on the show riled Kushal Tandon and Gauhar Khan enough to send them scampering back to India, Ajaz's stunts for the show seem to have impressed the yesteryears' super stunt-man Mudhu Balwant Shetty's son Rohit Shetty enough to offer him a major role in his next film Ajay Devgn- Kareena Kapoor starrer Singham 2.

Says a source from Cape Town, "Rohit Shetty has made the announcement of casting Ajaz on camera. Rohit was impressed not only by Ajaz's stunts on camera he also found him entertaining and funny off camera. On an impulse Shetty offered Khan a role."

I tried to congratulate Ajaz. But he quickly begged off any comment. Apparently the channel Colors has placed a blanket ban on all media interaction with the Fear Factor contestants after the Kushal- Gauhar- Ajaz tamasha in Cape Town.

Did Imtiaz Ali’s Highway beat his Rockstar at the box office?

Director Imtiaz Ali has made a name for making really ‘hatke’ love stories, in films such Socha Na Tha, Jab We Met, Love Aaj Kal, Rockstar and now the Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda-starrer Highway.

Imtiaz’s debut Socha Na Tha was a flop but Jab We Met made him a filmmaker to reckon with, followed by the decent Love Aaj Kal.

But it was his 2011 film Rockstar – starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri – that put him on a pedestal in the hearts of lovers. Everything worked in Rockstar – A R Rahman‘s soulful as well as rock music, Ranbir Kapoor’s acting, and a little bit of firangi khoon Nargis Fakhri.

Rockstar had collected a whopping Rs 53 crore at the box office in India. Its opening collection was Rs 11.25 crore. The success of Rockstar raised expectations for Highway multifold. But the road movie failed to bring in people in spite of praise for the actors Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda. In the three days of its release, Highway box office collections stood at only Rs 13.97 crores nett in India.

With completion from Shaadi Ke Side Effects releasing on February 28, and also Hollywood film Dallas Buyers Club, the collections of Highway might decrease further.

Imtiaz’s supporters are taking his side and calling Highway an indie film rather than a commercial movie. That we feel is not being fair on other masala entertainers who don’t have an indie feel.

But box office collections notwithstanding, it would not be wrong to ask: As fans of Imtiaz Ali, what worked for you more – Rockstar or Highway?

When Will Kamal Haasan's 'Vishwaroopam 2' Release?

Kamal Haasan's much-awaited "Vishwaroopam 2", which was expected to hit the screens early this year, is still awaiting release.

It was first reported that "Vishwaroopam 2" would release in 2013 but the date was later pushed to January 2014. However, it nows seems the post production work of the film has delayed its release even further.

As "Vishwaroopam 2" is nearing completion, there were talks that Kamal would release the film in April as a Tamil New Year treat for fans. The latest buzz is that Kamal has decided to push his film's release further as Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" has been confirmed to hit theatres on 11 April.

Sources have revealed that "Vishwaroopam 2" might hit the screens on 2 May or 9 May, so that there is a decent gap between "Kochadaiiyaan" and Kamal's magnum opus release, reported Indiaglitz. However, an official announcement on the film's exact release date is yet to be made.

Written and directed by Kamal, "Vishwaroopam 2" is a sequel to 2013 blockbuster flick "Vishwaroopam". The sequel will reportedly be more entertaining than "Vishwaroopam", and will have more scope for romance, action and sentiments.

Most of the cast from the first part have been retained for "Vishwarooopam 2", including Kamal, Pooja Kumar, Shekhar Kapur, Andrea Jeremiah and Rahul Bose. Veteran Bollywood actress Waheeda Rahman and Anant Mahadevan are the new additions to the sequel. Waheeda will reportedly be appearing in the role of Kamal's mother.

"Vishwaroopam 2" music will be composed by Ghibran of "Vaagai Soodi Vaa" fame. Usually, Kamal sings at least one song in his films - the actor had even sung some parts in the "Unnai Kaanadhu Naan" song in "Vishwaroopam." However, it seems he has not rendered his voice for any songs in the sequel.

"Vishwaroopam 2", reportedly made on a whopping budget of ₹75 crore, is jointly produced by Aascar Films and Raaj Kamal Films International. The spy thriller will have a simultaneous release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. "Vishwaroopam 2", reportedly made on a whopping budget of ₹75 crore, is jointly produced by Aascar Films and Raaj Kamal Films International. The spy thriller will have a simultaneous release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Fun to be madly teenaged: SRK

Looks like superstar Shah Rukh Khan was recently having a gala time holidaying with his teenage son and his friends. The "Chennai Express" star says it is fun to be a teenager as there are no worries.

The 48-year-old, who has three children -- son Aryan and daughter Suhana with wife Gauri, and AbRam, a baby boy who was born through surrogacy, says he hates it when holidays end.

"Mega pool session with the boys. It's fun to be madly teenaged. No Wuckin' Forries. Will miss my son and his friends. Hate when holidays end (sic)," SRK tweeted Saturday.

The Bollywood 'badshah' is currently shooting for Farah Khan-directed "Happy New Year", a musical heist, which also features Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah.

Mohnish Behl to sell bunglow after infant was found dead in Swimming Pool

Actor Mohnish Bahl was subjected to a horrifying news today morning as the body of a two day old infant girl was found in the swimming pool of his farm house. As Mohnish and his wife don't visit the place often, this place was vacant for a long time.

As the identity of culprit behind this heinous crime is not yet revealed to police, an FIR was lodged against a nameless person and investigation is still on. The body of the infant girl was first found by the caretaker of the farmhouse. Gender of the infant is confirmed only after the postmortem. Having horrified by what happened in this house, Mohnish Bahl who never wanted to sell this farm house (as he grew up there) has changed his plans. Now, he is looking forward to sell this house.

Mohnish, still not recovered from the horror, expressed his condolences and requested the society to change their attitude towards girl children. Upon hearing the news, Mohnish rushed to the place and was extremely upset after seeing the body. The actor was present throughout the police procedure. A police official said, "We are trying to figure out who dumped the body.

" Mohnish is an actor who prefers to do meaningful character roles in Bollywood movies. His performances in Astitva and LOC Kargil were highly appreciated.

Didn't know Alia could sing so well, says Mahesh Bhatt

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, whose daughter Alia Bhatt has crooned a song in her second film Highway, says he had no idea she could sing as well.

"It was a surprise for me! I had no idea that she also sings so well. When she became versatile and goddess Saraswati blessed her, we have no idea," the 65-year-old said here at an event here.

Alia has crooned Sooha saha for the movie, which released February 21. The 20-year-old is getting a good response for her performance in Highway, a road film directed by Imtiaz Ali.

Alia recently said that she would love to be in a film made by her father, but Mahesh Bhatt says there are no plans for this as yet. "No, we don't think that way. We make films and it's not like we have decided not to work together. She has her own journey, if there is something, then we will do it otherwise it's not necessary," he said.

Is Ajaz Khan responsible? After Kushal's exit, Gauhar eliminated from Khatron Ke Khiladi 5

TV fans are eagerly waiting for the 5th season of Khatron Ke Khiladi. Apart from action, viewers will also get a dose of controversy this season.

It seems like Ajaz Khan’s entry in the show didn’t go down well with his Bigg Boss 7’s co-contestants Gauhar Khan and Kushal Tandon.

Kushal backed out of the show last week due to a shoulder injury. Now his girlfriend Gauhar Khan, who was the winner of Bigg Boss 7, was eliminated from Khatron Ke Khiladi 5.

If sources are to be believed, Gauhar was in the bottom three along with Bigg Boss co- contestant Ajaz Khan and Geeta Tandon in a task and finally ended last.

The source elaborated that on the second day of Ajaz’s stint on the show, Gauhar had a big argument with him, which did not go down too well with the channel. The producers reminded the duo that they weren’t in the Bigg Boss house.

The wait is over, the result is out and the winner of the most coveted dance show Dance India Dance Season 4 is non other than the Mumbai Boy Shyam Yadav. Shyam Yadav has won the competition with a huge margin as his fans showered votes on him to make him the owner of Sunehri Taqdeer Ki Topi.
The top four finalists Shyam Yadav of Mumbai from Mudassar Ki Mandli, Manan Sachdeva of Karnal from Shruti Ke Shaandar, Sumedh Mudgalkar of Pune also from Shruti Ke Shaandar and last but not the least Biki Das of Kolkata from Feroz Ki Fauj.

With tears rolling down his eyes, Shyam spoke of how Mudassar has been his biggest support and if it wouldn’t have been for Mudassar teaching him dance and believing in him, then he wouldn’t have ever signed up for the auditions of such a big show.

Making their presence felt on the grand finale of Dance India Dance Season 4 were Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan who were there to promote their film Shaadi Ke Side Effects that is set to hit the silver screen on February 28, 2014.

Movie Review Highway

Movie Review: Highway
Star Cast: Alia Bhatt, Randeep Hooda
Director: Imtiaz Ali
A couple of damaged strangers seeking redemption via a road journey is the premise of Imtiaz Ali’s latest ‘Highway’. The director’s attempt to move away from his trademark candyfloss-ness has mixed results: this is perhaps the most picturesque road movie I have seen coming out of Bollywood, but the story struggles with its twin threads and uneven tone. ‘Highway’ is a patchy ride, with the occasional high spot.
Imtiaz Ali’s romancing the road is of a piece with his favourite plot device. This director is happiest and most-happy making when his characters are on the move, the breeze rustling their hair. In his latest, he tells the story of ‘jab’ Veera and Mahavir met, but there is a gap between what he wants his characters to be and the actors who play them. It becomes jab they met, not jab we met.
Veera Tripathi (Alia Bhatt) is a rich, cossetted bride-to-be. And Mahabir Bhatti (Randeep Hooda) is a criminalised, uncouth truck driver. This unlikely couple is thrown together, first reluctantly then companionably, for days at a stretch, as they rattle down the highway. They progress from fear to dislike to like to a kind of love, but it’s more a meander, and believability is a casualty.
Alia Bhatt has walked past her babydoll cosmetic debut in ‘Student Of The Year’ for a demanding role. Her Veera is effortlessly fresh-faced, absurdly young, scrubbed and vulnerable. But the sense of terror and dread that would make the character credible is never fully present.
She displays potential—especially in a harrowing scene in which she tells her companion of a secret that devastated her childhood — but she can’t really convince us that the thread of snot coursing through her tears is not artful. And in other places, she evokes incredulity: a high society Delhi girl in clothes that do not wear any ‘kaajal’ that differs in smudge-size as she rolls about in sand and mud? A body language coach (mentioned in the credits) is not enough: an actor who insists on being taken seriously needs to be able to fit the role completely, and Alia Bhatt falters in many places.
Randeep Hooda’s rough, abusive trucker looks the part, but also falls short. He mumbles and swallows his words, and his Jat dialect seems forced. This is an actor I enjoy watching, and here too he has moments when he is squaring up with this exotic creature, the likes of which he has never encountered before, which feel real. And then the script, which swallows up a couple of catchy A R Rahman ditties, dumps onhim an angst in weary flashbacks. His checking out is telegraphed much before it happens: you know it’s coming from a mile off.
I wanted more because it comes from a director who knows, or at least has known how to transfuse exuberance in love, and joy in sheer movement. ‘Highway’ is pretty but stagey.

Children first, work later for Happy New Year director Farah Khan

Director Farah Khan may be a successful director in Bollywood today but when it comes to her kids, she is like any other normal mother.

When Farah Khan was about to leave for work, one of her children fell sick, and the ‘Om Shanti Om’ director decided to skip work and take care of her child.

“Every mothers dilemma.. When Ur rushing for work n Ur child decides to throw up… Work can wait!!,” tweeted Farah Khan.

48-year-old Farah Khan, who is married to director-producer Shirish Kunder, is the mother of six-year-old triplets – daughters Anya and Diva, and son Czar.

Farah Khan is currently busy shooting for Happy New Year with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah. It is slated to release this Christmas.

The soon-to-be actress worked as a casting director for YRF till Shanoo Sharma, who also discovered Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, suggested her name to director Maneesh Sharma.
Bhumi and Ayushmann will play a middle-class married couple in ‘Dum Laga Ke Haisha’.

Aamir Khan to promote Satyamev Jayate with Mohanlal in south

Looking to gain maximum leverage in every region, especially in the South, the makers of 'Satyamev Jayate' (SJ) have roped in superstar Mohanlal for the upcoming season of the issue-based TV show.

After SJ's previous season in 2012, which was hugely popular, Mohanlal, 53, has been brought in as the new addition this time to serve as the brand ambassador for the show in South, which will help it to reach out to a larger audience in that part of the country.

Mohanlal will talk about various subjects that will be tackled by host-actor Aamir Khan in the show. "I am excited at this opportunity to be associated with Star India for the new season of Satyamev Jayate.

The show highlights various social issues that are relevant to people across the nation. "The concept of the show is very noble and an initiative of this nature, requires each one of us to come together," Mohanlal said.

Through his association with the show, he communicates the need to come together, as a nation, and support 'Satyamev Jayate' to raise, discuss and find solutions to the problems that plague India and its people.

The Malayalam film celebrity will be endorsing the show and shooting a set of exclusive promos for the show.

"The issues raised by 'Satyamev Jayate' are of national importance. With this in mind we are delighted to have Mr Mohanlal on board for Satyamev Jayate this season. His iconic association with the show will help garner greater support for the cause of the show and reach out to a larger audience base across the country," Uday Shankar, CEO Star India said.

Last time, the show stirred the consciousness of the nation as a whole while bringing forward key social issues that concerns the nation.

Star India's 'Satyamev Jayate' has been one of the most impactful shows on Indian television and the show returns with the second season starting March 2 at 11.00 am.

It will be aired on Star Plus, STAR Pravah, STAR Vijay, Asianet, STAR Utsav, DD and a differed telecast at 1.00 pm on ETV.

Shah Rukh wants to buy football team

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan says he wants to buy a football team, which will take part in the proposed IPL-style football league, promoted by All India Football Federation (AIFF) and IMG-Reliance.

"I am interested in buying stakes in the football league. If the football team happens then it is for Kolkata. We have limited resources but we are working towards it. Football team is 100 percent on cards," Shah Rukh said.

Meanwhile, the 48-year-old actor seemed quite excited about the upcoming season of IPL scheduled in April and May.

Madhuri Dixit praises SRK, Salman’s passion for their work

Actress Madhuri Dixit, who has shared the screen space with both superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, says she admires the passion both the actors have for their work.
Madhuri, who worked with Shah Rukh in hit films like ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ and ‘Devdas’, also performed with him during a recent tour ‘Temptations Reloaded’ in Malaysia.
“I really had a great time working with Shah Rukh Khan. He recently got his leg injured but still he has so much strength in him. I don’t know from where he gets the strength and energy. He is always on fire and goes all out to be the best for his fans. He is very passionate and dedicated about his work even today,” Madhuri told PTI.
She is also amazed with the work that her other co-star Salman is doing these days.
“I loved Salman in his earlier films like ‘Saajan’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Hum Apke Hai Koun!’ I see a completely different Salman now. Earlier, he was very mischievous but today he is more relaxed and wants to do good work. I find he is a lot more committed,” Madhuri said.
“When you see him doing a character of Chulbul Pandey, there is a different maturity that he brings into it. I love his dancing too. Earlier, he would just dance but now he has got his own style and a swagger, which is really wonderful,” she said, adding that she wants to do a masala entertainer film with Salman, provided she is offered one.
Surprisingly, Madhuri has no friends in Bollywood. “Everybody is so busy with his or her work. I am sure other actors must be having friends. Back in the 90s when I was completely into films, I hardly went for any parties. I would feel uncomfortable and completely out of place,” she said.
Besides her acting abilities, Madhuri, who is known as a great dancer, likes the dancing skills of Deepika Padukone.
“I enjoyed watching Deepika Padukone’s dance in ‘Nagada Sang Dhol Baje’ from ‘Ram-Leela’. She is very graceful. I like Katrina Kaif too. She works really hard. I also like Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma,” she said.
Madhuri is quite happy the way her online dance academy is shaping up.
“It is coming along really very well. We have more than 88,000 students and we are planning to expand it. We want to introduce different dance forms. There are some minor problems as everything is on the internet, but otherwise we have got a very good response,” she added.
Madhuri will be seen next in ‘Gulaab Gang’ alongside Juhi Chawla. The film is set to release on March 7.

SRK breaks down watching footage of documentary made on KKR

MUMBAI: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan today got nostalgic and teary-eyed while seeing the raw footage of a documentary film made on his IPL team - Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)-and felt that winning does matter a lot.

SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment had bought the IPL team in 2008 in partnership with actor Juhi Chawla and her businessman husband Jay Mehta.

The documentary 'Living with KKR' will air from February 24-27 on Discovery channel.

The film will trace the graph of the team, which initially failed to impress with its performance in the first four seasons. It was only in 2012 that KKR managed to bounce back and became champions of the cash-rich T20 league beating Chennai Super Kings.

"It looks very nice.... I got emotional... It made me cry. I want to thank my team KKR and everyone associated with it. It is not a PR or marketing tool. We had a great learning experience. I am glad we made interesting journey for people ... Youngsters to look at us," Shah Rukh said here.

"I think winning does matter.. It does make a difference, it makes you feel stronger. If you win then a documentary will be made on you. So I would say one must go and win," he said remembering how his team has grown over the years.

SRK says the learning lesson throughout their entire journey was to stick to your goals and dreams, working hard.

The documentary will have the voiceover of SRK. He will talk about the journey, his love for Kolkata, equation with Sourav Ganguly, the first captain of the team, other players, and how the team emerged a winner after a shaky start.

"It is tough to make films than this. I want to make my team more strong and passionate. I did feel sad when we lost nine matches in a row but I never showed my anger or scolded n the players or anyone. As I did feel that the players too were disappointed not winning the match... They did not lose any match purposely," SRK said.

Alia Bhatt: Nervous and excited about Highway

It seems the promotions of Highway seem to have taken their toll on Alia Bhatt.

After a six state journey whilst shooting, a screening at the Berlin film festival and promotions across have exhausted the 20 year old actress. "I am exhausted at the moment but my mood varies from exhaustion to anxiety and nervousness and Imtiaz has allowed me to feel nervous. It's okay to be nervous."

However, we could not help but notice that the actress, who  wore a bored expression at the media interactions in Delhi, sounded disinterested in questions being put to her or was it something else pinching Alia other than her stilettos?

When asked if she was excited about her next Two States, she said, "Yes, I am so looking forward to the promo, but not to promoting it."

Why? Has Highway worn her out that much?

"No, I am off to shoot another film in Chandigarh," came the cryptic response.

So, with A R Rahman giving his approval to Alia's recent debut as singer, and encouraging her to cut an album, will we see a collaboration?

"I don't think he said. I think he has been misquoted but yes, in the long haul sounds good. I will take music seriously," was the response.

The actress feels Highway will be a game changer and will silence those who thought she couldn't put the act in acting!
Well Alia, maybe some enthusiasm is well. And hopefully the actress will sing a far happier tune closer to the release of Two States.

First look: Katrina’s sister Isabelle to debut in Salman’s ’Dr. Cabbie’

Katrina Kaif’s younger sister Isabelle Kaif is all set to make her acting debut with ‘Dr. Cabbie’, co produced by sister’s ex flame Salman Khan.

While sister Katrina Kaif began her acting career in Bollywood with ‘Boom’, Isabelle will be starting with a Canadian film. But the film’s first look does have a Bollywood touch to it.
The film, which is being shot in Toronto, will be produced under Salman Khan’s Being Human (SKBH) Productions.

The film is the story of an Indian unemployed immigrant doctor-turned-cab driver, who becomes a local hero when he converted his taxi into a mobile clinic. The movie is being directed by Canadian director Jean-Francois Poulliot.

Apart from Isabella, the cast also includes Vinay Virmani, Adrianne Palicki, Kunal Nayyar, Lillete Dubey, Mircea Monroe, Rizwan Manji.

However, Isabelle is not the leading lady of the film and is paired with second male lead, Kunal Nayyar, who is famous with the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
