Veena Malik-Asad Bashir blessed with a baby boy

Controversy's favourite child Veena Malik, now Veena Malik Khan, knows how to make it to the headlines. The actress, who married a Dubai based businessman Asad Bashir Khan in December last year, gave birth to a baby boy in Arlington, United States on September 23.

Veena, who had sworn-off dramatic antics and masala cinema, named her baby Abram, like Bollywood superstar Shah Khan Khan's third child AbRam.

While SRK fashioned his son's name with a capital 'R', Veena left that alteration out. Her justification being - Abram is Abraham/Ibrahim's original name, who is the considered as the pioneer of Islam.

Meanwhile the Zindagi 50:50 actress also borrowed a leaf out of actress Shilpa Shetty's book and activated a twitter handle for her son hours after his birth.

Fawad Khan breaks records in Pakistan, Khoobsurat collects Rs. 3 crore

Fawad Khan-Sonam Kapoor-starrer Khoobsurat has garnered Rs. 30 million within the first three days of its screening in Pakistan.

Amjad Rasheed who owns the IMGC entertainment company said the response has been outstanding. Khoobsurat has done extremely well compared to the other Bollywood release Dawaat-e-Ishq, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra.

"No film has ever made Rs. 10 million on a non-holiday weekday and this is the first time this has ever happened," he said. He pointed out the highest grossing films in Pakistan including Sharukh Khan's Chennai Express, Salman Khan's Kick and Waar were all released on Eid holidays.

The film, which marks the Bollywood debut of popular Pakistani television star Fawad Khan, was released on 46 screens across the country.

Nadeem Mandviwalla, founder of film distributing company Mandviwalla Entertainment, said Khubsoorat had not only outdone Dawaat-e-Ishq but also Pakistani film Dukhtar.

Khubsoorat had such a high demand that most of the cinema halls, multiplexes and cineplexes are running extra screenings, he said adding some theatres are running five to six shows a day.

Nadeem said the film's success could be attributed to Fawad Khan who has a star power in the country.

Here’s why the Bigg Boss 8 Secret Society is a big flop!

Despite the secrecy and blurred faces the identity of these 3 contestants is out in public
Bigg Boss 8 has started its new season on a sour note. Despite the hoopla of trying to do something different and change the format, the idea of using the concept of three secret society members early on in the show hasn’t really worked. As per the new idea, three participants on the show have been granted immunity from nomination and also special rights and privileges where they can make the rest of the contestants dance to their tunes. Sounds interesting right ?

Unfortunately the identity of these three contestants - Deepshikha Nagpal, Puneet Issar and RJ Preetam was leaked on the day of the premier. The information being made public it didn’t‘ really serve a great purpose in blurring their faces and keeping their names away from the common public. Also most of the contestants have already been able to guess from their voices who these 3 secret society members are!

Tonight’s episode showed a preview that in Wednesday’s episode the 3 members will remove the hoods off their face and show their real identities to everyone. However, the stunt seems lame given the fact that this was established in the beginning itself. We hope that Bigg Boss 8 has some better and more interesting twists and turns lined up in the show in the near future!

Shah Rukh Khan, who accepted the dare, uploaded a video on Twitter which shows him performing exercises that helped me gain eight pack abs for 'Happy New Year'. SRK shared the video with a message, "Duggu, hope the gnAB gnAB challenge was met!"

Watch Shah Rukh-Deepika's Happy New Year 'Manwa Laage' song

We bet that Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone will set the screens on fire once again with Farah Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ and if your inner conscious doesn’t accept it then watch out this newly out song ‘Manwa Laage’, where ‘fire’ itself holds a special significance.

The song begins with our king of romance SRK and leggy lass Deepika Padukone sharing a cute smile, which is cut to a dancing session. What is predominantly served thereafter is a sizzling romance between our lead couple.

While Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika are into each other in the song, the other companions like Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah are there as a fire brigade team to keep things under control.

In one of the sequences, Shah Rukh Khan’s much talked about abs are also visible, which make this track much more interesting.

Sung influentially by Shreya Ghoshal and Arijit Singh, ‘Manwa Laage’, however, may not enter your playlist but visually it could entice you to watch it again and again for Deepika-SRK’s magical chemistry.

Penned by Irshad Kamil, the song chants the brewing romance between Shah Rukh and Deepika which is comical too. Vishal-Shekhar duo has implied minimal instruments to allow the singers do the needful and they don’t let the composers down.

Watch this nearly three minutes song right here. ‘Happy New Year’ is set to release in Diwali this year.

Mallika Sherawat booked for insulting national flag

Hyderabad police Thursday booked Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat for disrespecting the national flag.

On the direction of a city court, a case against the actress was booked at Falaknuma police station in old city of Hyderabad.

A police officer said a case under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 was registered.

Two citizens had filed a petition in the court, seeking direction to the police to book the actress for insulting the national flag in her upcoming film "Dirty Politics".

Mallika had wrapped a tricolour on her body on the movie poster. She was seen sitting on the roof of a car with red beacon.

This was the second case booked against her in Telangana state. Last month, police in Karimnagar town had registered a case against the actress under different sections of various acts pertaining to the state emblem and national flag.

Police took the action on the direction of a local court. Last week, on a public interest litigation, Hyderabad High Court had issued notices to Mallika Sherawat and the central government.

The petitioner alleged that Mallika's act amounts to "obscene use of the Indian tricolour". He further stated that the state emblem of India has been used for cheap publicity and that the poster insults India's honour.

Movie Review: 'Mary Kom'

Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Darshan Kumar, Sunil Thapa

Director: Omung Kumar

Rating: **1/2

An inspiring biopic on any boxer has to be as much about the fight within as about the fight without. Just as a win in the boxing ring is also a reflection of the pugilist’s triumph within -- triumph not just against the obvious odds stacked up by the world, but against the personal whims and desires that tempt one away from chasing one’s dream.

Mary Kom, a biopic of the Olympic bronze medalist and five-time world champion boxer Mangte Chungneijang Mary Kom tells the inspiring story of both these fights but with less directorial finesse than such a telling demanded.

Priyanka Chopra plays the freckle-faced, pugnacious Manipuri girl Mary, born in a poor family of a farmer and brought up in a state riven with insurgency. The film opens on a pregnant Mary and slides into flashbacks depicting her struggle to be a champ boxer. Defying parental opposition to her dream of being a boxer, and picking fights with bully boys on the streets, Mary gets herself enrolled into a boxing training academy with her steely resolve and persistence against repeated rebuffs from the stern coach Narjit Singh (Sunil Thapa). And once Mary gets rolling, there’s no stopping her. She punches her way to state and national level championships, but squanders a flourishing career when she decides to marry and have kids.

Personal crisis offsets conjugal bliss as Mary Kom discovers that life without boxing neither brings her dignity (she’s offered the job of a hawaldar), nor contentment of being an inspiration to those who hold her as a role model. Mary’s supportive husband Onler (Darshan Kumar) prods her to pick up the gloves again. Will Mary, a wife and mother of two, make a stellar comeback and silence the snobbish officials at the boxing federation? Or will she throw in the towel before putting up her best fight?

Writer Saiwyn Quadras does a swell job of weaving warp and woof the tale of Mary Kom the boxer and Mary Kom the wife and mother. Director Omung Kumar peppers it with commercial tropes to make it appealing for not just the connoisseurs but also the masses at large. A tale like Mary Kom’s had to have that broad appeal. Omung manages this feat not without the rustiness of a debutant filmmaker.

The attempt to punch in a few tear-jerking moments is all to deliberate. Priyanka Chopra’s affected north-eastern accent is a put-off. The songs (Shashi Suman and Shivam) lack the verve the subjected required. Cinematographer Keiko Nakahara cranks a confident camera even though producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s editing is a bit jerky.

Mary Kom (watch trailer here) wouldn’t have been half the film it is without Priyanka Chopra. Physical transformation apart, the actor gets a boxer’s body language bang on. Her Mary is a fierce fighter one moment, a giggly girl the next. The climactic fight, where Mary has to stretch every sinew and muscle and tap into the last reserve of energy to clinch herself a win, will have you on the edge of your seat. Putting in a very restrained and nuanced performance opposite her is Darshan Kumar. He’s an actor to look out for.

On the sidelines, Sunil Thapa fits the bill as the dour, stern coach and Shakti Singh excels as said slimy official of the boxing federation.

In a nutshell, Mary Kom may not be a perfect, well-crafted biopic but it’s sure as a Mary punch an inspiring tale.

SRK creates another history, gives tough competition to Mukesh Ambani!

He is known as the Badshah of Bollywood and now he is all set to be known as the badshah of the country. Shahrukh Khan created a history as he is the first film actor whose name has been  added in the richest persons of India.

A list, which is generally dominated by business tycoons of the country, now welcomes the entry of the Bollywood actor who secured a place in the list with wealth worth Rs US$600 million (3,660 crore).
What might have shocked many that Shahrukh has been giving tough competition to Reliance Chairman -- Mukesh Ambani. However, Ambani still remains on the top of the list with wealth worth Rs 5,21,550 crore.

Mukesh Ambani still remains on the top of the list of richest man of India The latest report has been published by Wealth-X, a leading ultra high net worth (UHNW) intelligence and prospecting firm. The firm revealed a list of top five richest Indians and they are -- Mukesh Ambani (Reliance Industries), Lakshmi Mittal (Arcelor Mittal), Dilip Shangvi (Sun Pharmaceutical Industries), Azim Premji (Wipro) and Pallonji Shapoorji Mistry (Tata Sons).

Shahrukh Khan earlier was declared as the second richest actor of the world. Wealth-X in May 2014 said the co-chairman of Red Chillies Entertainment and co-owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was the second richest actor in the Hollywood and Bollywood Rich List.

Shahrukh even had beaten Hollywood actors Tom Cruise and Johnny Depp to gain the second spot. Jerry Seinfeld topped the list with US$820 million, while Khan came second with US$600 million.

New season of 'Satyamev Jayate' to have celebs, live chat

Superstar Aamir Khan is back with yet another season of his popular TV talk show 'Satyamev Jayate' which will have new additions like Bollywood celebrities talking about various causes.

After getting an overwhelming audience response for the two seasons, the third edition of the show, which highlights social issues prevalent in India and discusses possible solutions, will see the popular actor having 'live' interaction with viewers and connecting with them on new-age social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Unlike the previous seasons, this one starting next month will have celebrities talking about various causes.

"There will be some celebrities on the show this time. There will be top stars from the industry for some episodes. They are there on the show not because they are celebrities but they are related to the issue...they will be contributing for the show," Aamir said here tonight at a press conference organised to announce the third edition.

"We don't want to use this (presence of celebs) as publicity for the show. There is a reason for them to be on the is not for promotion," he said. Reportedly, Aamir has invited Kangana Ranaut, Parineeti Chopra and Deepika Padukone for one of the upcoming episodes, which talks about women empowerment. This time around the viewers will get to share their thoughts live with Aamir as soon as an episode comes to an end. He will interact with the people and take note of their suggestions about the issue discussed.

"This time I will be live with the people. We can get opinion and suggestion of people immediately. I will also connect with them through Twitter and Facebook. So this is a new element in our show," the 49-year-old actor-host said. The actor said the show, which was first telecast in mid-2012, has transformed his public image.
"People don't look at me as an actor alone. I remember when I was shooting for 'PK' in Rajasthan the media there did not ask any questions about 'Dhoom 3', which was about to release. They did not even ask me why I was in Rajasthan... they asked me only about 'Satyamev Jayate'," Aamir said. "That time I realised they (media) don't have interest in my film career and time has come for me to retire.

This makes me realise that people don't look at me as an actor alone. Through my profession I touch people's heart through stories. And using this (the show), I try to bring change in society."

Aamir got emotion the programme, which he said, has tranhim as a person. "There are lots of changes in me...I have become more patient, there is maturity and I am less judgemental as I have seen a lot of things through this show. In the show, you see that I talk to 8-10 people but during our research I talk to 70-100 people."

"We get angry but feel helpless while dealing with our problems. We have seen a lot of things and it has had a huge impact on me. The show has been difficult for me emotionally," he added. The first two seasons focused on issues like female foeticide, sexual abuse of children, dowry, domestic violence, medical malpractice, casteism and water crisis. However, Aamir was tight-lipped about content of the third edition.

"We don't reveal topics usually and this time also we will not reveal them. But there are several NGOs and lots of people who on our websites suggest topics that we should take up on the show. We consider all the suggestions and opinions and plan accordingly."

"Every topic surprises me. The team goes around the country and they show the research material which shocks me, I get angry, I get emotional, I feel the pain. There are lots of emotions that I go through," the actor said. The third edition of the show will go on air on September 21 on Star Plus channel.

I have invested a part of my soul in 'Mary Kom': Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra, who has stepped into the shoes of boxer Mary Kom in an upcoming biopic of the Olympic-winner, says she has invested a part of her soul in the film and her heart will break if it fails at the box office.

The 32-year-old 'Fashion' star says 'Mary Kom' is a very special film for her and she has pushed her limits to do justice to the role. "I started this film at the hardest point in my life, four days after my father passed away.

All my grief, everything, I have shoved into this movie. Every single day of making this movie has been a challenge. A part of my soul has gone into it. I would go home, cry and tell my mother, 'I don't think I can do this' and be back on the sets next day," Priyanka told PTI in an interview here. The actress went through a tough physical transformation to portray the role of the boxer in the Omung Kumar directed movie.

"The film is special to me. I am not good with dealing failures and I am not prepared to face it with this film especially because it is too close to my heart. It has inspired me personally and I want it to do well," she said.

The actress has been promoting the film in different parts of the country. She is next headed to Toronto International Film Festival for its world premiere on September 4. The film releases in theatres on September 5. Priyanka says 'Mary Kom' deserves to be promoted aggressively, unlike other films, which are commercially big.

"The film needs aggressive promotion because it's not some big budget 'masala' film. I want people to watch it because I know they will be inspired by it. It is a story of how a young woman fights all odds to become India's face in the boxing circuit worldwide. It is entertaining too because Mary is a fun person, who celebrates life to the fullest," she said.

priyanka feels responsible towards this film much more because of the faith put in by the boxer in her despite criticism from some sections that a North East actor should have played the Manipuri athlete in the film.

"I feel so responsible that Mary is okay with me, a North Indian, playing her. She said 'I would rather have you, an Indian, playing me on screen than some South Asian actress who looks like me'. I also believe that looking similar is important in a biopic but I have tried to tell her story and showed her real persona, so I am hoping people will like it," said Priyanka.

The actress said that the makers initially thought about casting someone who looked like Kom but later they decided to approach her. "This film needs to reach wider audience. She has put faith and responsibility in me. I am grateful to her and her family, they have shared so many details of their life with me," Priyanka said while calling it "a great creatively satisfying experience".

The National award-winning actress says she tries to keep a balance between films with meaty roles and commercial cinema, where male actors take the lead. "I will never stop doing big budget films, though I do try to have some substance in my roles but if it is not there then I don't mind doing such films because my commercial viability as an actress comes from successful films I do.

"That's the honest thing. If I have to do a film like 'Mary Kom', I need to do these big budget films," she said, adding that an actress' value in the industry is judged by her commercial success and not by the strong roles she does.

"It is a movie-making business and the value of an actress in Bollywood depends upon her commercial viability, which in turn depends upon box-office. It holds true for male actors too," Priyanka said. The actress will be next seen in Zoya Akhtar's 'Dil Dhadkane Do' with Ranveer Singh, and her maiden production 'Mada mji', which will be helmed by Madhur Bhandarkar
