Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra launch new season of MTV Coke Studio Season 4

New-age Bollywood icons Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra seemed the right guests to launch a new season of MTV Coke Studio.

The show, which has captured the imagination of a pan-Indian audience with its unique musical concepts, kicked off its fourth season in the presence of the two young stars in Mumbai on Monday.

Alia and Sidharth's coming together has always created a buzz. The two budding actors-both proteges of Bollywood's mush master Karan Johar-have been spotted cosying together in public once too often lately, triggering off whispers of an affair.

The two made their debut in Johar's 2012 teenybopper hit Student of the Year, and have been synonymous with good songs lately.

Twenty-one-year-old Alia sang Samjhawan in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Sooha Saaha in Highway (2014) while 30-year-old Sidharth's first major Rs.100-crore superhit, Ek Villain, was hailed for its blockbuster songs.

At Monday's do in Mumbai, Alia was clearly in the mood to announce the arrival of summer, looking pretty in a pink floral short jumpsuit.

"Coke Studio is a music statement now. Film-makers say 'we need Coke Studio kind of feel in our songs'. I am a music lover who needs music all the time - while driving and while getting ready, especially while getting ready! I'm glad that Coke Studio will have a year-long run now. I hope to be a part of this journey in some way," Alia said at the event.

Sidharth, meanwhile, made a casual cool style statement in a pair of jeans, a printed tee and a black jacket. The young actor also took out time to pose for selfies with female fans, besides some group selfie with the team of Coke Studio.

Among others present at the launch of the show's new season were music composer Ram Sampath, composer and singer Pritam Chakraborty, singer Rekha Bharadwaj and MTV VJ Anusha Dandekar who looked chic in a pink floor-length dress.

This year, Alia returns to the big screen in Queen-director Vikas Bahl's Shandaar and Ishqiyamaker Abhishek Chaubey's Udta Punjab. She stars opposite Shahid Kapoor in both films. Sidharth, meanwhile, is gearing up for some heavy-duty action in Karan Malhotra's martial arts film Brothers co-starring Akshay Kumar.
