As an artiste, I have the rights to say what I want: Kamal Haasan

Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan in not new to controversies. The superlative performer has wrestled with so many controversies over the years that he feels they follow him and will continue for the remainder of his career.

"Even till last week, we were fighting a case in connection with my film Papanasam. We know who filed the case, and from where. It's like trouble and controversies always follow me," Kamal told IANS here.

"I feel I'm always targeted. It has happened in the past too. For instance, people objected the title of my film Mumbai Express. They said the title wasn't in Tamil, but what's the Tamil word for Mumbai? In an earlier case, they didn't let me name one of my films Sandiyar, and a few months ago, a film with the same name released. Why didn't anybody object to it," he asked.

Kamal's recent release Tamil spy thriller Vishwaroopam was embroiled in controversies after Muslim groups felt they were portrayed in bad light.

The same film earned the wrath of the distributors after Kamal commissioned an idea to release the film via DTH platform on the day of theatrical release.

Kamal HaasanTrouble, controversies always follow me, says Kamal Haasan

Haasan who is busy promoting his next mega project Uttama Villain, still swears by the DTH idea.

"It's one of the other branches of film business. We have to do business in all directions," said Haasan, who also blames the Central Board of Film Certification for curbing the freedom of speech.

"If I feel like saying something in the language I want, I have to write and get permission from the Board, like in the British times. But I am an artiste, I have all the rights to say what I want and also question them," he added.

Kamal also has two more Tamil films Papanasam and Vishwaroopam 2 in his kitty. He said even if these films release or get delayed, he will continue working.

"I can't sit idle. I am always eager to give audiences good projects because they are expecting it from me," he added.

The 60-year-old has already started work on his next Tamil project, a thriller said to be set against the backdrop of Mauritius.

Check Out the trailer of 'Piku' starring Big B, Deepika Padukone

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who will be seen in Shoojit Sircar's 'Piku', unveiled the film's trailer on Wednesday in the presence of the entire star cast, including Deepika Padukone and Irrfan.

Watch the trailer of 'Piku' below:

The trailer gives a glimpse into the life of Piku, a working woman, who is shouldering the responsibility of her ageing father. Irrfan teasingly calls Big B a '90-year-old kid', whose tummy problems give the trailer a funny twist. The plot surrounding the three characters unfolds as they embark on a road trip from Delhi to Kolkata.

"Shoojit and I have been together for a long time we have done many campaigns together. He made a film with me which has not yet released but that's a different story. He said he wants to do this film and I said yes. We had Irrfan, Deepika, and it was an absolute pleasure to work in this film," Amitabh Bachchan told reporters during the trailer launch.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi, 'Piku' is slated for release on May 8.
Deepika, who will be seen playing Amitabh Bachchan's daughter, said she instantly said yes to the film as soon as she heard the narration of one scene.

"The first time Shoojit met me for this film, I remember saying yes after listening to the narration of one scene. For me, being Piku is a character which is very relatable. Women generally are born to multi-task, so all women will find it relatable from Piku's point of view," Deepika said.

Anushka Sharma reacted to Virat Kohli's wicket

Anushka Sharma is at Sydney Cricket Ground cheering for team India and her beau Virat Kohli but sadly all her cheering didn't help as Virat Kohli lost his wicket to a short ball by MG Johnson.

Anushka, obviously was shocked at Virat's dismissal. Here's how she reacted.

These are a few more pictures of Anushka at SCG that we got on Twitter. Take a look.

Anushka, along with other WAGs, was barred from accompanying their partners to the World Cup. Since the team made it to the semi-finals, the board had allowed the players' WAGs to accompany them.

The couple went on a quiet dinner at an Indian restaurant accomapnied by a member of the support staff and a security officer assigned to team. Post the dinner, they called for a taxi since they did not want to invite any unwanted attention by the fans.

Saif Ali Khan Fights Against All Odds To Save The Bhopal Property

Saif’s legal woes don't look like they're about to end anytime soon. The Nawab of Pataudi has found himself at the centre of a legal property dispute in the state of Bhopal.
The disputed property is worth thousands of crores and was apparently inherited by Saif’s grandmother, Sajida Sultan, who was married to Iftikhar Ali Khan (the eighth Nawab of Pataudi).
The Office of the Custodian of Enemy Property has stated that the right successor to the property is Sajida’s elder sister Abida who had moved to Pakistan in 1950.
Sources have elaborated on the incident stating, “Saif has been busy proving that the Pataudis are successors to the erstwhile Bhopal State since last December.
He was also asked to submit a copy of the missing merger agreement between the last ruling Nawab and Indian Union.” We hope that the Nawab can rise up to his royal duties and find a way out of this one soon.

Sporting a piece fresh off the runway, Aishwarya donned a creation from Sabyasachi's latest collection showcased at the Lakme Fashion Week.

Originally, the piece had been presented by the designer as a dress however Aishwarya worked it into a traditional outfit by pairing it with a pair of black churidaars and embellished dupatta.

Fendi shoes, Maithili Kabre earrings and a Sabyasachi clutch added the right finishing touches to her look.

Aishwarya Rai's probably gave one of her best appearances till date as she sauntered in a Burberry dress at the launch of L'Oreal's latest collection of lipsticks aka the Star Pure Reds Lipsticks.

Pairing her dress with a Fendi cuff and Dior pumps, the actress stuck with her signature straight hair and red lip.

Wearing Roberto Cavalli, the actress looked svelte as she accepted the award for being the most successful Miss World till date at the year's Miss World ceremony.

Her signature red lip amped up the fab-quotient of her look.

Finally, Dadasaheb Phalke Award for actor Shashi Kapoor

Actor-filmmaker Shashi Kapoor, who has starred in over 100 Hindi films and best known for his powerful portrayals in hits like “Namak Halaal”, “Deewar” and “Kabhie Kabhie”, was today chosen for the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award, the highest official recognition for film personalities in India.

The 77-year-old actor, who is wheelchair bound and has been ailing from kidney problems, is the third from his family to get the award, after father Prithvi Raj Kapoor and elder brother Raj Kapoor.
The award consists of a Swarn Kamal (Golden Lotus), a cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs and a shawl, an official announcement here said. The award is given on the basis of recommendations of a Committee of eminent persons set up by the Government for this purpose, the statement added.

A five member jury unanimously recommended the name of Kapoor, who has carved out an equally successful career in alternative international cinema and theatre, for the award.
He will be the 46th Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner.

Born in 1938, Kapoor hit the spotlight from the age of four acting in plays directed and produced by his father, while travelling with Prithvi Theatres. He started acting in films as a child in the late 1940s.

His best known performances as child artist were in “Aag” (1948) and “Awaara” (1951), where he played the younger version of the character played by Raj Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor also worked as assistant director in the 1950s.
Kapoor made his debut as a leading man in the 1961 film ‘Dharmputra’ and went on to appear in more than 116 films during 60s, 70s and until the mid 80s.

One of India’s first actors to go international, Kapoor starred in many British and American films, notably Merchant Ivory Productions run by Ismail Merchant and James Ivory, such as “The Householder” (1963), “Shakespeare Wallah” (1965), “Bombay Talkie” (1970) and “Heat and Dust” (1982).

He has also starred in other British and American films such as ‘Siddhartha’ (1972) and “Muhafiz’ (1994), the official statement said.
Kapoor’s nephew Rishi Kapoor congratulated him on twitter, saying, “Yes! Shashi Kapoor to get the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award for contribution to Indian Cinema. Well deserved uncle. God Bless!”

Kapoor had a hit pairing with Nanda, with whom he starred in eight romantic films including “Jab Jab Phool Khilen”, “Neend Hamari Khwab Tumhare” and “Char Diwari” with many memorable songs composed by R D Burman and crooned by Mohammad Rafi.

He also worked with actresses including Raakhee, Sharmila Tagore, Zeenat Aman, Hema Malini, Parveen Babi and Moushumi Chatterjee.
In 1978, Kapoor set up his production house Film Valas which produced critically acclaimed films such as “Junoon” (1978), “Kalyug” (1981), “36 Chowringhee Lane” (1981), “Vijeta” (1982) and “Utsav”(1984).

He also produced and directed a fantasy film titled “Ajooba” which had Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor in the lead role.

“Side Streets”, a 1998 Merchant Ivory film directed by Tony Gerber, was Kapoor’s last acting venture. The film featured Valeria Golino, Shabana Azmi, Miho Nikaido, Art Malik, Victor Argo, Rosario Dawson, and Jennifer Esposito.
Kapoor is instrumental in reviving the Prithvi theatre group. He was married to British actress Jennifer Kendal, with whom he co-starred in films like “Bombay Talkies” and “Junoon”. They have three children – Kunal, Karan and Sanjana Kapoor.

Jennifer died of cancer in 1984 leaving Kapoor shattered. Sanjana now looks after Prithvi theatre.
Kapoor was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2011.

In and out of hospital in recent years, Kapoor was last year in September admitted for chest infection. Earlier, he had undergone bypass and cataract surgery. He was also on dialysis.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Arun Jaitley has conveyed his congratulations on the occasion.

His deputy Rajyavardhan Rathore said, “Congrats to Cinema Legend Shashi Kapoor for Dada Saheb Phalke Award. His sensitive portrayal of human emotions has touched many a heart.”

'Deepika Padukone Has Refined Herself': Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor who is recovering well from her swine flu condition has apparently been praising her contemporary Deepika Padukone a lot in the recent past.

Reportedly, when she was asked about the Bajirao Mastani actress for a recent magazine interview, Sonam made a very candid confession about her frenemy and their career choices. She said, “Well, she’s doing much better than I am. Her career has taken a completely different path from mine.

There’s definite growth in her work, choices and acting. She’s started looking better and she’s dressing better. She’s refined herself. She started off as a raw diamond and now she’s a beautiful piece. It’s fascinating.

My journey hasn't been as smooth and easy. But I’m trying to get there on a different path. We started off on the same road and went off in different directions.” We love Sonam even more for her being so cool and forthright.

Bigg Boss ex-contestant Nigaar Khan getting married to a Pakistani

Bigg Boss 7 winner Gauahar Khan's sister and a ex Bigg Boss contestant herself Nigaar Khan is getting married!

Since he is not from the industry, she doesn't want him to feel uncomfortable about dating an actress. The date of the wedding has not been fixed yet, but she has gone there to make necessary arrangements. She will be settling abroad with her husband."

However, Nigaar or any of her family members have not confirmed the reports yet. But we wish to see her soon in the bridal avatar.

Beef Ban angers Rishi Kapoor

According to a new rule, the consumption, usage and selling of beef has been banned in the state of Maharashtra. Many Bollywood celebrities had expressed their opinion about the beef ban as the ban would affect them as Bollywood is based in Mumbai which is a part of Maharashra.

No one had openly supported the ban and there were many who expressed their opposition to the ban. There has been another Bolywood star who has come out with his resentment against the beef ban.

Rishi Kappor shared about it through a tweet, ‘I am angry. Why do you equate food with religion?? I am a beef eating Hindu. Does that mean I am less God fearing then a non eater? Think!!’

He shared another tweet, ‘By the way I love my Pork Chops too like a lot of my muslim friends who have a likewise thinking Laugh when you equate food with religion.’

It is good to see some actors coming out with a firm opinion about something rather than being diplomatic and worrying about political parties.

Kangana writes her first ever blog - Read here

The Tanu Weds Manu Returns actress just started a new blog and you are going to love the first post
Kangana Ranaut is known to be edgy and unconventional in everything she does. She doesn’t like to follow the norm, she is always ready to surprise and mediocrity is not an option for Ms Ranaut. From doing films like Queen to taking screenwriting lessons in New York, Kangana has always been extraordinary and now pushing the envelope even further, she has begun a blog where she will be sharing her musings on a regular basis!

She even wrote the first post today, thus ringing in her birthday on a rather profound note! Why do we say it was profound? Well read the post and you’ll know what we mean…

“Spring child.

At 16 she was just a girl who was trapped in a stranger’s body, more often than not that body seemed possessed by alien forces like menstrual blood, cramps, stretch marks, acne, shameful desires and regretful deeds. Neither did she want that body nor that person.

At 19 the seed was bursting and an artist was trying to sprout from it, did it make it?Did it not? That seed might have not made it and many others after that didn’t either but one seed eventually did, the price and the pain both were unbearable.

At 23 when she looked into the mirror she was faced with a bundle of contradictions, she contradicted herself but she didn’t lie not even to herself. Her honesty was endearing and for the first time I liked her.

At 27 I ‘d fallen madly and deeply in love with the mountain woman who speaks with clouds and butterflies.

I can’t wait to grow old and meet her when her eyes will sparkle with wisdom and her voice will quiver with kindness and here another thought hits me, how much more time do I have with her?

Time is slipping from my hands just like sand does and I know one lifetime won’t be enough for us.

Can I close my eyes and breath this beautiful spring day in and let it flow through my blood and make it a part of me?Can I stay in this moment for a little longer before 27 deserts me like a lost love affair and before 28 conquers me like a conquest.

Kangana Ranaut.”

Do you think Kangana’s blog will be an inspiration for millions out there who aspire to be like her? What did you think of Ranaut’s birthday blog? Share your thoughts with me in the comments section below

Salman Khan hits Mumbai streets on a bicycle

Salman Khan, the coolest superstar of Bollywood, hit the Mumbai streets on a bicycle.

The actor, who is taking a break from the shooting of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, was spotted riding his bike in a tee and shorts. This is not the first time the superstar has taken to Mumbai streets on a bike. He’s done so on a number of occasions in the past.

Salman Khan will soon resume the shooting of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ in Udaipur. He is also slated to shoot for the film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ in Kashmir.

SRK’s son AbRam loves books

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is fond of reading and the habit seems to have passed on to his younger son AbRam Khan as well.

The 49-year-old who is busy shooting for his film Fan in Croatia tweeted a photo of little AbRam with a book. He wrote, “The proof is in the reading. “Books r no more threatened by Kindle than stairs by elevators” Stephen Fry. & so it is.”

SRK’s good friend Farah Khan promptly replied with a photo of her own son reading a book.

She tweeted, “@iamsrk n here’s mine! Always a book as his companion..nothing beats that smell of paper and the feel of the pages turning.”

SRK’s rejoinder was a prediction.

“@TheFarahKhan humaare bachhe librarian ban Jayenge mujhe lagta hai….which is awesome but they will shush us to silence whenever we speak!!”

Salman Khan’s new royal look

Here is the new royal look of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and it’s not for his film ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’.

This gold-studded look is rather for a commercial of the popular jewellery brand PNG Jewellers. Salman Khan is the brand ambassador of PNG. He was in Dubai recently to launch a new store of this jewellery brand at Meena Bazaar.

Now, he features in an ad by PNG.

Salman Khan is next slated to shoot for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ in Kashmir. He’s lately been filming director Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ in Kumbhalgarh, Udaipur.

Shahid Kapoor to marry a Delhi girl in December

This rumour is likely to break many hearts. Buzz is that Shahid Kapoor is set to tie the knot with a Delhi girl.

The girl is said to be the third-year English honours student at Lady Sriram College in Delhi. Her name is Mira Rajput and she did her schooling from Vasant Valley School.

The Times of India alleges that Shahid Kapoor first met Mira at a Radha Soami Satsang Beas and the two bonded well. They didn’t come out in the open about their relationship but kept a low profile.

The report even claims that Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput got secretly engaged on Makar Sankranti in January this year. Now, the wedding is slated to take place in December.

Shahid’s dad Pankaj Kapur is a follower of the Radha Soami sect and knows Mira Rajput’s family well. Kapur senior was even spotted visiting Mira’s Chhatarpur house recently, as per reports.

There’s been no confirmation or denial of either secret engagement or coming wedding by Shahid so far.

Kareena Would Be The Wife I Wanted: Karan Johar

Let's start with the image. We absolutely love the playfully captured Kareena Kapoor and Karan Johar pictures in the special edition of Harper’s Bazaar India.

The two of them share an enviable camaraderie and are known to be the biggest BFFs in Bollywood. As fabulous as they both look gracing the cover of this glossy, our attention seems to be drawn more towards some interesting remarks Karan Johar was known to have made in the story.

Karan admitted, "I always feel if I were a man who would be interested, she would be the wife I wanted, or if I had a sibling, she would be the sister I never had, or if I was interested in dating women, she would probably be the woman I would want to date. Of course, she has her limitations and so do I."

Interesting, considering that the duo have created box office magic almost every time they have collaborated. And we certainly want to know what those limitations are!

Fawad Khan Play Virat Kohli in Dhoni Biopic?

We certainly can't get enough of Pakistani hottie Fawad Khan after his portrayal of the gaunt, brooding prince in Khoobsurat.

And rumour mills are on an overdrive following a drool worthy cover of Virat Kohli on GQ India's March issue, and the subsequent release of alleged girlfriend Anushka Sharma's NH10.

But, fans are in for a double bonanza this time, as we’ve heard from sources that Fawad Khan will be playing Virat Kohli in MS Dhoni-The Untold Story!

According to Bollywoodlife.com the movie has a star ensemble cast including Alia Bhatt, John Abraham, Aftab Shivdasani and Sushant Singh Rajput. Director Neeraj Pandey too has kept the project under wraps and thereby building a lot of hype around the much awaited biopic.

Guess we'll just have to wait and watch how things unfold, but we do believe that the reclusive Fawad Khan bears a striking resemblance to cricket's favourite poster boy!

Kajol, SRK to Create Onscreen Magic Again!

Well, finally the rumour that has been driving the gossipmongers into a frenzy, has been confirmed!

Rohit Shetty has decided to play cupid and bring back the knee-weakening romance of a Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan film back on screen. After so much speculation regarding the female lead of Shetty and SRK's next film, the director finally confirmed yesterday to a leading daily that the film Dilwale will star Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan along with Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. The film is slated for release around Christmas.

We can hardly wait now, if Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan can still work their onscreen magic, injected with liberal doses of Shetty style action, this might prove to be another one of the director's midas touches.

Another interesting rumour doing the rounds is that Ajay Devgan may also be making a special appearance in the film. Are we looking at the first signs of a thawing cold war between the two men in Kajol's film career? We sure hope so!

Bombay Velvet trailer is out !

The wait has ended finally! After listening endlessly about Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet, we finally got to see the trailer of the film. Are we impressed? Well, the trailer is good but not as good as I had expected it to be. May be my expectations were high but why not? It is not everyday that a director like Anurag Kashyap, known for his offbeat films, joins hands with a mainstream actor like Ranbir Kapoor to make his most 'masala' and big budget film ever. And if that's not all he casts a filmmaker, who is known for his candy-floss films and has only a cameo to boast about in his acting CV, as a villain. Yes, Karan Johar.

The film is based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables and is set in 1960s, the old 'Bombay' days. It is the story of an ordinary man Johnny Balraj (played by Ranbir Kapoor) who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a 'Big Shot'. Anushka Sharma is playing Rosie Noronha a jazz singer and Karan Johar is the main antagonist Kaizad Khambatta. The film releases on May 15th.

No we are not judging the film but based on the trailer entirely, here are things that we liked and things that we didn't like in the trailer of Bombay Velvet. Let's start with all that we liked in the trailer.

Ranbir Kapoor as Johnny Balraj
As you watch the first scene of the trailer, it is clear that Ranbir Kapoor is here to give performance of the year in this film. The actor is the best thing of the trailer and of whatever little we have seen we are sure he is this good in the whole film also. Talking about his curly hair, well we loved it, gives him an old world charm like his grandfather Raj Kapoor.

Nice retro looks of the characters specially Anushka
This department is bang on! Everyone has got that perfect retro look be it Ranbir or Karan Johar but Anushka Sharma's look as a jazz singer takes the cake. She looks pitch perfect especially in the scenes where she has dressed up all glamorously. Her bouffant, fringes, hair-bands and dresses are totally retro and suiting her. We still can't figure out though why that infamous lip job was required for the film.

Ranbir and Anushka's chemistry
Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma have come together for the first time and boy what chemistry! The on-screen romance and chemistry between the two is worth watching and can be one of the factors to make me go to the theatre to watch the film. We definitely want more of it.

Production design
The film was shot in Sri Lanka to get 1960s look of Mumbai (then Bombay) and it has worked. From ambassadors to car number plates to old BEST bus,  production design is detailed, sets are good and has succeeded in recreating Bombay of 1960s.

Things that we didn't like much
Karan Johar
After whatever Anurag Kashyap had said about Karan Johar's acting in the film and after watching his poster, our expectation bar was a bit high in terms of his acting and the character. He is not bad though with that smirky look on his face but his dialogue delivery is not upto the mark. But again we hope he will surprise us in the film as Anurag had said.

Trailer is long and fails to generate interest
The trailer should be intriguing enough to make you wait for the movie and compel you to buy first day show of the film but Bombay Velvet's trailer fails in it. I am not a morning person but I made sure to watch the trailer as soon as it was released early in the morning because of the hype the film has created till now. Exactly 2 minutes and 40 second later, I was left confused, uninterested and well not satisfied.

Ranbir Kapoor and his tommy guns
Ranbir Kapoor firing with both hands from his tommy guns - this scene is so Hollywood and if I may say done to death. It gives a feeling of dejavu that we clearly don't expect from Anurag Kashyap out of all.

Background score
Is it just me or the background score of Bombay Velvet's trailer reminds you of Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Don't you think the background score is too cliche and ummm average?

May be Anurag Kashyap did it deliberately so that we are pleasantly surprised by the film. Well, we haven't lost hope, this was just the trailer and I hope the film surpasses our expectations, as great King Khan once said, "picture abhi baaki hai mere dost."

Ranbir Kapoor is a Candy Crush junkie: Jacqueline Fernandez

And, you think that only you are addicted to the popular game Candy Crush. Read again. Bollywood's heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor just can't get his hands off his phone and the actor also shares the addiction of constantly playing Candy Crush.

A daily quoted Jacqueline Fernandez, who shared screen space with Ranbir in Roy, as saying, "Ranbir is always on the phone. During the shoot, he comes and gives his shot perfectly. After that, he is busy with his phone. It's as if he has disconnected himself from the world."

But the actor is not busy talking or texting his girlfriend Katrina, in fact, the actor is always  seen crushing candies on his phone.

The actress further revealed, "I felt maybe he is serious and does not like talking much. But one day, when he was on the phone, guess what I saw! Ranbir was busy playing Candy Crush. He's such a Candy Crush junkie that every time he's free, he's busy crushing candies on his phone."

Katrina Kaif opens up about her hardships and trials in the industry

She battled Hindi diction woes and the 'outsider' tag to win over Bollywood audiences and has worked with top-notch stars and filmmakers in her over decade-long acting career. Model-turned-actress Katrina Kaif says the industry only has space for those who are passionate about their craft - age notwitstanding.

Facing the arclights might seem like a cakewalk for many but Katrina, who at one point in her career, gave six back-to-back hits, doesn't find it easy.

"It's a hard industry to work in. It's not easy on a person to be sometimes 14 to 15 hours on the sets. Sometimes, you don't have a lunch or dinner break. It's taxing on a person. You have to be passionate about making movies. So, till the time you are passionate about it, there is space for you in the industry," Katrina told IANS in an interview here.

At 31, she has films like "Jagga Jasoos" and "Fitoor" in her kitty.

She doesn't see age as limitation in the field. Citing examples of actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi, who came back to films after becoming mothers, Katrina said that it's not age that decides a woman's fate in showbiz.

"Actresses like Madhuri and Sridevi have worked till the time they've wanted to. I think what happens with most women...it's law of nature...if they choose to get married and if they choose to have a family...and that will take her away from work for that particular time.

"Otherwise, I think women work as long as they choose to. Kajol is doing great work till today, Aishwarya (Rai) has started doing some amazing work now. It's up to the individual...how much he or she is interested in pursuing and developing art," added the talented actress, who has roots in London.

As an actor, Katrina, who has shared screen space with superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, aims to get her hands on good films, rather than focusing on whom she is cast with.

"People want to work with them (the Khans) because they are icons of Hindi cinema, but I don't think people are saying that that's all they want to do. If you are an actor, your job is to act... to be a part of a good film and do good work," said the actress, who has done a film as serious as "Raajneeti" as well as a mix of comedies and romantic films.

Having started with a box office dud like "Boom" and then going on to creating a success story started with "Namastey London", "Apne", "Partner", "Welcome", "Race" and "Singh Is Kinng", Katrina feels the current crop of films are "amazing", with women playing strong central roles.

"Even in the films which I've done with Salman and Shah Rukh -- 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' -- both were extremely strong roles for me...for any girl to do. So, I don't think it's just about whom you are acting with," said the actress, who essayed a Pakistani spy in Salman-starrer "Ek Tha Tiger".

Also a popular dancer courtesy her songs "Chikni chameli" and "Sheila ki jawani", Katrina is happy that she has worked with "almost all types of people".

"I've worked with actors like Govinda, Irrfan Khan, John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh. It's all been amazing," she said.

She is currently filming "Fitoor" in which she is paired with "Aashiqui 2" fame actor Aditya Roy Kapur.

REVEALED: Why Shahid Afridi Pulled Out Of Nach Baliye

No one can argue that we haven’t seen Shahid Afridi master all the strokes on the field, but what a treat it would have been to watch this dashing cricketer set the dance floor on fire in the seventh season of Nach Baliye! Unfortunately, fans are in for a disappointment as the ace cricketer apparently shocked the executives of a Hindi entertainment channel by allegedly backing out in the last minute.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, as soon as he realised that the show’s format involved dancing couples competing for the championship title, Afridi apparently turned down the invitation to participate, stating categorically that he does not want the whole world to see his wife dancing!
Channel executives, on conditions of anonymity, said that the cricketer was keen on a solo act but when he got wind that it would involve his wife participating, he refused the offer saying, “Biwi ko nahin nachana hai. We can all agree that this is a personal choice, but we can't help wondering if there is a lurking sexist behind this decision.

The channel is looking for a replacement and has approached a few other cricketers.

Govinda Says He Does Not Want To Work With David Dhawan!

David Dhawan and superstar Govinda have entertained the masses with many blockbusters. Together, the two have created the hit franchise of 'No.1' films. However, looks like their relationship has hit the rough patch as the actor doesn't intend to work with David Dhawan anymore.

"No, I don't want to work with David Dhawan as he didn't stand by me during my bad patch. I feel when a person thinks that you are not capable of doing his film or working with him, then one should not ask for work, or work with that person if he thinks that you are a liability on him. I think the love between us, that has been there over the years, should remain the same. We should live a healthy life. Currently, he is a proud father and let him be happy. I have nothing to do with his films, nor do I want to discuss films with him," said Govinda.

Tum nahi samjhogi anjali, bahut kuch hota hai

A few days ago, we told you about the Stalker avatar of the Great Indian Lover, who has, through half a century of cinema, been indoctrinated into the 'follow till she's fed up and falls for you" school of thought. Today, we're talking about another kind of the cinema-inspired Lover, the film-pilgrim who takes serious notes while watching movies to replicate in real life - the Bollywood Extremist. For him, every dialogue of the romantic hero can only be literal, and every act of his in persuading a girl is a DIY-guide to happily ever after. Never mind that real girls mostly find it creepy; if it works for the movie, it works for them. Some women share their experiences with the Bollywood Extremist with us.

JANNAT-STYLE PROPOSAL ON THE ROAD

Medha*, 25, who works in a BPO, was pursued by a guy for over a year till she made her long-distance boyfriend come to town and beat him up, filmi style, as that was the only language he seemed to understand. It was apparent that Emraan Hashmi's Jannat was the driving influence of this dogged lover, Medha shares with us, saying, "He saw me once in a pub while I was partying with my friends, and after that, started stalking me. I think he managed to get my number from my office. I was told by the security guard once that some courier guy had come for me, but since I was not in office, he gave him my number so that I could get my courier on time. After that day, I started getting calls and messages. I blocked him on Whatsapp, but he started sending me gifts in office. He tried talking to me many times outside my office."

She adds, "I was even admonished by my boss as this guy used to send gifts and flowers to my office. The situation got out of hand when one early morning, while was I going home in my office cab, he brought it to a stop just like Emraan Hashmi did in Jannat, and when I came out, went down on his knees to give me a ring! I obviously slapped him across his face. But suspecting that he might do something even more dramatic, I called up my boyfriend, who works in Hyderabad. He and his friend taught him a good lesson. For the last two months, that guy has not tried to contact me, which is a relief."

ROCKSTAR LOVER

"For the last couple of years, I've been getting flowers, chocolates and gifts from an unknown guy," says Alka*, 26, who works in a real estate firm, "I thought complaining to the police would solve the problem, but it didn't. He's quite smart."

Sharing her story, which quite harmlessly began with a movie, she tells us, "I have no clue where he got my address from or even where he saw me. It started when, a couple of years back, I received two tickets of Rockstar. I was excited and assumed I must have won them in some contest, so I used them with a friend of mine. But the same evening, I got a card which said, "I hope you liked the movie. I love you like Jordan loved Heer. I will destroy myself if I don't get you."

"Both my roommate and I couldn't sleep that night. But that was just the beginning. Since then, he sends me movie tickets of every new romantic Bollywood release. Though I don't use any of those tickets, I still get a card that evening saying how he loves me like the actor of that movie, and how he will 'destroy himself'. He also sends me DVDs of other romantic movies. Dozens of times, he's sent me addresses of some public place where he wants to meet me, but of course I've been ignoring it. I complained to the police once, but since he makes no calls, and only sends gifts, letters and tickets, they couldn't track him down. It's creepy as whenever I step outside my house, I feel that someone is watching me. I am now planning to change my city altogether, but I am still apprehensive because the way he knows everything I do, he might be able to track me down there too."

DIALOGUE KING

"Boys think sending filmy dialogues can win the heart of a girl. I've been getting calls and messages from some boy for the last five months. He always sends me cheesy dialogues from movies, which I mostly choose to ignore," says Deepali*, 29, a dietician. The first message she received was, "Ek ladki dekhi, one flash, aur main apna dil kho baitha, ab toh bas ek hi tamanna hai, rehna hai uske dil mein."

Other gems from his repertoire flooding her inbox include "Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho toh puri kainat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai"; "Humse door jaoge kaise, dil se humein bhulaoge kaise, hum woh khushboo hain jo saason mein basti hai, khud ki saason ko rok paoge kaise" and "Main tumhe bhool jaaoon, yeh ho nahi sakta, aur tum mujhe bhool jao, yeh main hone nahi doonga".

"Once, he sent me a dialogue - 'aag jo dil mein lagi hai, usse duniya mein laga doonga main, jo teri doli uthi, zamaane ko jala doonga main'. I got furious. I had been taking him to be some useless stalker, but that day, I called him back and abused him and even threatened to get him beaten up. But that shameless person again sent a message, 'thappad se dar nahi lagta, pyar se lagta hai'! That was the limit of my patience. I had been reluctant to change my number because it would involve explaining the reason to people like my boss, but after that I message, I changed it and made sure not to make it very public, and thank god he has not managed to get my new number yet," says Deepali*.

The B-town fashionista is absolutely fine and back in action…

Not too long ago, Sonam Kapoor was diagnosed with swine flu because of which the B-town beauty had to leave the shooting of her upcoming film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and rush back to Mumbai for treatment. The babe was in hospital for few days and her industry friends Jacqueline Fernandez and Tanya Ghavri even paid her a visit.

Though the Kapoor lass was out of action, she kept her fans updated about her health through Twitter. And now Anil Kapoor’s beti has recovered completely. In fact, the Khoobsurat actress has reached Udaipur where the whole team of Sooraj Barjatya’s much-awaited directorial venture Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is currently shooting. This means Sonam will start working on her film too. Whoa…that’s good news for all Sonam fans!

The above picture was shared by Salman Khan’s fan club on popular social networking site Twitter. They also wrote, “Sonam Kapoor Reaches Kumbhalgarh, Udaipur For the Shoot of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.”

Directed by Barjatya, PRDP is bringing together Salman and Sonam for the very first time. The film also stars Armaan Kohli and Neil Nitin Mukesh in pivotal roles.

While we can’t wait for the film to hit the screens, for now, we are just happy that Sonam Kapoor is fit and back to the grind!

Shilpa Shetty Reunites With Akshay Kumar!

Shilpa Shetty and Akshay Kumar are all set to collaborate on a new home shopping channel called Best Deal TV. The partnership comes as a huge surprise to fans who loved the couple in films like Dhadkan but were unsure that they would ever see them in the same room after their alleged breakup.

According to DNA, the stars will be working as partners on this project which involves some other celebrities like Sonakshi Sinha as well in different capacities.

In an interview Shilpa explained this new working relationship by saying, "I can't take any credit for this as it's my husband Raj's brainchild. We needed someone who people believe in and over the years, Akshay has earned people's respect through movies. So have I. So we wanted to associate with someone credible and it was very nice of Akshay to come on board. Raj went and met him and when he discussed the idea, Akshay liked it so much that he said he wanted to partner with us. We have a lot of other actors who are on board as well but in different capacities."

Shilpa and her husband who gave up their stake in Rajasthan Royals are now working on supporting other sports like boxing through their concept, Super Fight League or SFL. The actress is very eager to return to films and television as well.

Apparently, there are rumours that Shilpa has quit Nach Baliye as a judge and moved on to a similar show called Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa on a rival channel. Shilpa explained the move and cited her inability to travel due to her little son as the reason for her exit but buzz is that she was offered a whopping Rs14 crore, which is double the amount she received for Nach Baliye. Whatever she does decide to do, we can’t wait to see Shilpa lighting up our screens with the magic of her dance moves all over again.

Katrina Kaif: Ranbir Kapoor is very loyal and emotional!

All eyes are on Bollywood’s sweethearts waiting for them to make an official announcement about their relationship.

The declaration of their love may still take a while but in the mean time Kat is letting the world know what a gem her boyfriend is…

Katrina Kaif may not be super vocal about her relationship with Ranbir Kapoor but whenever she does talk about RK her quotes are dipped in sugar! At the India Today Conclave, Kat opened up about her relationship with RK and the Kapoor family saying that Neetu Kapoor is a stunning lady while Rishi Kapoor is a darling.

During an interview with an entertainment portal abroad, Kat was all praises for her boyfriend. She said, “Ranbir is like me, in the way that he is very loyal and emotional to the people he really cares about in his inner circle, which is very small. He can come out very detached to people outside of that. The only difference between his behaviour and my behaviour, let’s say on a film set, is that while he is incredibly charming and polite with everyone that he comes in contact with, I don’t think he yet realises what an important and amazing trait that is, I will get tired after saying a good morning to just three people.”

Ranbir and Katrina are a perfect fit and we just hope that the couple tie the knot soon! What are your thoughts on this?

The film will be premiered on March 20

With maximum awards to its credit, Shahid Kapoor’s award winning film Haider is heading for a global acclaim this year. Yes!The Vishal Bhardwaj’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”, will be screened at the London Asian Film Festival (LAFF).

Salman Khan is interested in breeding horses at his Panvel farmhouse

The Kick actor has quite a few animals at his Panvel farmhouse and now wants to breed em. Deets here!

Salman Khan has recently bought himself a few horses, which are being kept at his Panvel farmhouse. Two of them have been named Bajrangi and Bhaijaan, say sources.

The animals are a recent addition to his farmhouse, which has a horde of other animals. It seems Khan’s love for them has rubbed off from his Kick co-star Randeep Hooda, a lover of horses. Randeep owns a couple of them and horse-riding is his other passion, apart from acting. On the sets of Kick, the two actors spent a lot of time together and extensively spoke about horses and perhaps, that is when Salman got fascinated with the idea of breeding horses.

Says our source, “Salman’s farmhouse in Panvel has a lot of animals — from poultry to goats, cows and dogs — he has them all there, space being a constraint in Mumbai. His staff is constantly at hand to tend to these animals. The horses are a new addition to the ‘family’. He is now interested in breeding them.”

When we got in touch with Salman’s father Salim Khan, he confirmed that along with the horses, his son also had other animals at the farmhouse

Aamir Khan not attracted to SRK & Salman Khan type films

Aamir Khan is known for his alternative film selections and that’s why he said in an interview that
the type of films Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan pick are not the ones he would go for.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Aamir Khan said, “The kind of choices I make are very different from Shah Rukh’s and Salman’s. They are attracted to a certain kind of cinema; and it’s very successful. They have a fantastic following and people love their work. But that kind of stuff doesn’t attract me.”

Elaborating further on Salman Khan’s choice of films, Aamir said, “I don’t think I am capable of that (smiles). You have to have a certain charm to pull them off. Plus, they don’t excite me. Sometimes, when I watch Salman doing his belt dance step (from Dabangg; 2010), I also feel like doing it, but I don’t think I can do a full film like that.”

The three Khans were seen together earlier this year in the 21 years celebration of ‘Aap Ki Adalat’.

Shruti Haasan creates sensational record

Beautiful actress Shruti Haasan has created sensational record. She has lent her voice for a song in Gabbar is Back and it is heard that she has recorded the song in one hour, without a break.

Sources say “Shruti was shooting in the village of Pollachi for one of her Tamil films. In between her film schedules and her numerous brand shoots, she had just half-a-day to complete this recording. She had prepped the song in advance and had worked on the voicing so as to maximize her output at the studio. And that’s exactly what happened”.

Gabbar is Back is a remake of Tamil film Ramanna and features Akshay Kumar, Shruti Haasan in the lead roles. This film also features Prakash Raj, Sonu Sood in key roles and Kareena Kapoor, Chitrangada Singh will apprar in cameo roles.

Gabbar is Back is directed by Krish and is being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and is slated for the release on May 1st, 2015.

Vidya Balan to play Suchitra Sen onscreen!

After successfully essaying Silk Smitha’s character in The Dirty Picture, boombat Balan is ready for yet another real character…

Vidya Balan will be playing Suchitra Sen onscreen. Well, is buzz is to be believed Siddharth Roy Kapur’s wifey might play the late veteran actress in her next. According a daily, the actress has already started prepping for this role. Raima and Riya Sen’s grandmother was a kathak dancer and hence Vidya has roped in Pt Jayu Raman to learn this dance form.

Looks like Vidya does not want to go wrong with this film, especially since it is a biopic. Apart from Suchitra Sen’s biopic we hear that the Kahaani actress was also one of the most sought after contenders for Benazir Bhutto’s role. Bombay Velvet actress Raveena Tandon too was being considered for Bhutto’s bio.

Vidya, turned down many films this year including Sujoy Ghosh’s Durga Rani Singh. She has just finished her next project with Emraan Hashmi, Humari Adhuri Kahani. So, is Mahanayika her next stop? If so, then who will play Sen’s hero Uttam Kumar in this film?

Sidharth Malhotra’s special gift for Alia Bhatt on her Birthday

This weekend was definitely special for the Highway babe, who turned 22. And someone dear made this day extra special for her!

Sidharth Malhotra certainly knows to impress the ladies. And this includes his ladylove Alia Bhatt. We’ve learnt that Sid gifted his girlfriend an expensive camera.Yes, it seems Sidharth knew that Alia is fond of photography and so he ensured that his beautiful lady had one of the best and latest cameras. The Brothers actor called for a high-end cam from the US and guess what apart from her passion for photography this one will even satisfy Alia’s selfie cravings. It seems that this edition of the camera has something for the selfie buffs. We’re certain that since Sunday Alia must’ve not stopped clicking.

A source close to the couple revealed that Sidharth’s gift was really thoughtful and that Alia was super happy all thanks to her beau. After all we’ve seen the Shandaar actress being clicked by the paps and some of the most renowned names in the industry. Even Dangal actor Aamir Khan couldn’t help but go click-click on seeing Alia at Deepika Padukone’s party last year.

The Bhatt gal’s love for the lens extends even to her fashionable statements on the red carpet. Recently at an award show, we caught the Udta Punjab actress with a fancy clutch that looked like a blingy cam. With this new gadget in hand, we hope Alia treats us to some lovey-dovey pics of Sidharth and her.

The 3 Khans Are Turning 50: Katrina Says Passion Keeps Them Going

KATRINA KAIF, WHO HAS PLAYED LEADING LADY TO ALL THE THREE KHANS, SAYS IT'S THEIR "PASSION, AUDIENCES' LOVE AND DESIRE" THAT KEEPS THEM GOING

They're turning 50, but the indomitable clout of Bollywood's Khan trio - Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman - in the Hindi entertainment space continues to get stronger. Age notwithstanding, the trio have a much brighter future, predict trade experts and film celebrities.

Katrina Kaif, who has played leading lady to all the three Khans, says it's their "passion, audiences' love and desire (to excel)" that keeps them going.

"Besides being truly talented, they are all spectacular people, and they will be here for as long as they choose to be," Katrina told IANS.

Aamir is the first of the lot to be turning 50 on Saturday, but he's an unstoppable force, who brings something new and ground-breaking to the table.

He may have lost the cute college-boy looks he had in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, but if Aamir stands out even today, it's for his ability to tell 'edutaining' tales. He raised the social conscience with films like Rang De Basanti on corruption; Taare Zameen Par on dyslexia; 3 Idiots on the education system; and he took a swipe at organised religion and godmen with PK, as well as his TV show Satyamev Jayate.

After delighting audiences for over 25 years, the actor is yearning to scale more heights and still manages to create a dhoom at the box office.

Aamir says he is "still 18 years old."

"I don't feel that I have reached at the peak of my career. According to me, 'peak' means you are about to go downwards, so I hope I am not at the peak of my career," he added.

Indeed, age is no bar for Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist'. Just as passionately as he built an eight-pack for Ghajini, Aamir is now beefing up to play a wrestler in Dangal.

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who's yet to work with the Khans, says none of them look 50.

"I think they'll continue having such dominance in the coming years too," Vishal told IANS.

Same is the case with SRK, who will cross 'half century' on November 2.

A look at his career graph explains why he's referred to as the 'Bollywood Badshah'.

He became a rare example from the 1980s, to carve out a successful film career following a TV stint. With shows like Fauji and Circus, he found a visibility that pulled him into the world of films.

Making it big initially with grey roles in Baazigar and Darr, SRK climbed the ladder of success with Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which earned him the epithet of 'Bollywood's king of romance'.

With action films like Don and Ra.One, and issue-based entertainers like Swades and Chak De! India, SRK proved that he could do much more than his signature pose of arms wide open and flashing a dimpled smile.

When he revisited love sagas with Main Hoon Na, Om Shanti Om and Chennai Express, his fans embraced him with love. A successful producer, who believed in the power of technology, SRK's projects chugged away smoothly to Rs 200 crore club.

Despite success on the film front, SRK kept going back to his TV roots with shows like Kaun Banega Crorepati and Zor Ka Jhatka. He is currently hosting India Poochega - Sabse Shaana Kaun.

One actor who has charmed both TV and film audiences with his 'dabangg' ways is Salman, who has turned out to be a true-blue commercial star of the masses. Touted as one of the most bankable stars of tinsel town, he's easily the Bigg Boss of Hindi showbiz with a mix of romantic, comical, action-oriented and family drama roles to his credit.

Salman's second innings in Bollywood took off with Dabangg. His masala laden filmography became tastier with Ready, Bodyguard, Wanted and Kick.

Salman's first stint with TV was Dus Ka Dum, which didn't strike the right chord, but with reality show Bigg Boss, they kicked up a storm on the small screen too.

According to Mumbai-based trade analyst Komal Nahta, the three Khans may be turning 50, "but their box office strength is that of a 25-year-old".

"They'll continue to rule the industry for many more years to come. The kind of box office impact they have with their films and the way they entertain the audience, I don't think anybody can do that," Mr Nahta told IANS.

Distributor Rajesh Thadani doubts if "any new actors can last for this long".

"These three Khans generate the maximum revenue for our industry, and we all look forward for their releases. I'm assuming they will continue to rule," Mr Thadani said.

NH10 : Movie Review

Cast:Anushka Sharma, Neil Bhoopalam, Darshan Kumaar

Director:Navdeep Singh

Rating:***

SPOILERS ALERT

A taut and riveting thriller, NH10 paints a disturbing portrait of an inherently violent village on the edge of a glittering boomtown.

Director Navdeep Singh employs deftly minimalist and consistently effective touches to create a crackling, tension-filled on-screen atmosphere that could shake the toughest of souls out of their complacent stupor.

NH10 is not half as complex and multi-layered as Singh's critically lauded debut film Manorama Six Feet Under, released nearly eight years ago.

It is, in fact, a touch simplistic in its depiction of the social and economic chasm between the two Indias that exist cheek-by-jowl across large swathes of the country.

But what the film lacks by way of depth of vision is largely offset by the strength of its frill-less and focussed storytelling.

The sinewy narrative is gritty, gripping and grinding. Dialogue is sparse, the editing is crisp, and the cinematography is of the finest order.

Some of the violence in NH10 is gut-wrenchingly gruesome, but much of it mercifully stays off camera.

NH10 centres on an innocuous road trip that turns into a nightmare for a well-heeled Gurgaon couple.

As the two ride deeper and deeper into trouble, the film ventures into a dystopia where human life is of little value.

This is a landscape where might is right, and women are disposable commodities that are completely subservient to brutal societal diktats.

This belt is within shouting distance of the swanky office blocks and the luxury residential high-rises that dot the NCR skyline, but utter lawlessness, senseless criminality, police apathy and honour killings are rampant here.

As one creepily cynical character points out without batting an eyelid, democracy and the Indian Constitution have no currency beyond where "the last mall of Gurgaon ends".

In an attempt at chilling humour, the selfsame man says: "Electricity hasn't arrived here, forget the Constitution."

The screenplay (by Sudip Sharma, who is also the dialogue writer) is woven around only a handful of characters. Not all of them are equally well etched out.

Especially unconvincing is the carefree husband, who thinks nothing of exposing himself and his wife to danger simply because his ego has been hurt by a criminal. And to think of it, he repeatedly claims to be friends with a senior Delhi police officer.

The focus of NH10 is primarily on the harried figure that is fleshed out by co-producer and lead actress Anushka Sharma.

She bears the burden rather well, conveying a range of moods as she moves from the vulnerable to the fearless in a battle in which the odds are stacked heavily against her.

Here, darkness hangs around the bright lights of a seemingly thriving but dangerous city, and the director wastes no time to get to the point.

As the film opens, the razzle-dazzle of a glitzy Gurgaon night floats dreamily across the screen.

Over the flickering neon flashes, the voices of Meera (Anushka Sharma) and Arjun (Neil Bhoopalam) waft through the windshield of an off-screen SUV.

The two are talking about a party that they are headed to but are not very keen to attend. But they do drop by.

An office emergency compels Meera to leave the bash halfway through. On the way, she is waylaid by a bunch of hoodlums. She escapes by the skin of her teeth.

Panic-stricken, the couple applies for a gun for self defence. And to get Meera's mind off the harrowing incident, Arjun promises to make up to his wife for a skipped honeymoon with a romantic birthday getaway.

The much in love couple drive right into a violent fracas at a highway dhaba.

A young village girl and her husband are dragged into a vehicle by her violent brother (Darshan Kumaar). Arjun jumps in to play saviour.

His bravado backfires and their trip careens out of control.

The film, however, holds its path right down to the shocking final moments.

NH10 is an adventurous Bollywood film that breaks the shackles of convention and is none the worse for it. Eminently watchable.

Salman Khan Hit-And-Run Case: Court to Record Actor's Statement Soon

MR KHAN'S STATEMENT WOULD BE RECORDED UNDER SECTION 313 OF CRIMINAL PROCEDURE CODE WHICH ALLOWS THE ACCUSED TO TELL THE COURT HIS/HER SIDE OF THE STORY AT ANY POINT DURING THE TRIAL

As the trial of 2002 hit-and-run case is nearing its end, the sessions court here today said it proposes to record the statement of the accused, Bollywood actor Salman Khan, from March 23 to enable him present his defence on the evidence put up by the prosecution.

Mr Khan's statement would be recorded under section 313 of Criminal Procedure Code which allows the accused to tell the court his/her side of the story at any point during the trial. "I propose to record Salman Khan's statement for two days from March 23," said the judge D W Deshpande. "However, this can start only after deposition of all the witnesses is over," he added.

About 25 witnesses have already deposed. Investigation officer Rajendra Kadam's deposition concluded today. Another officer, Kishan Shengale, is deposing; his cross-examination would be held next week, said Special Public Prosecutor Pradeep Gharat.

Salman Khan was present in the court today along with his sisters Alvira and Arpita, his bodyguard, and other staff. Wearing a grey shirt and blue denim jeans, Khan sat with his team of lawyers. He was seen prompting defence lawyer Shrikant Shivade who was putting questions to the investigating officers (IOs).

Since the deposition of IOs is very crucial, Mr Khan has been asked to remain present by the sessions judge who is conducting a fresh trial in this case.

The courtroom was jam-packed with lawyers, media persons and law students. Police threw a tight security cover as many people turned up to see the actor.

Mr Khan was arrested after his car had rammed into a bakery in suburban Bandra in the wee hours of September 28, 2002. One person was killed and four were injured.

A fresh trial is being held after the charge of culpable homicide, which provides for imprisonment upto ten years, was invoked. Earlier, the trial was being conducted by a magistrate, where the actor was charged with rash and negligent driving, which attracts a jail term of only two years.

TV actress Deepika Singh finally patched up with her onscreen husband Anas Rashid

Deepika Singh who recently created a stir in media by slapping her onscreen husband and co-actor Anas Rashid for molesting her has finally patched up with him.

Recently Deepika Singh had slapped Anas Rashid on the sets of the show - 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' for improperly touching her at wrong places while shooting an intimate scene. But now it seems the duo, which is quite popular for their lovely onscreen chemistry has sorted their issues.

While talking to a leading daily, Deepika has said, "It was a personal issue and we have decided to solve this amicably in the interest of the show. We can't deny that our pairing on screen is popular and so, we can't let some differences affect our work or the show's viewership. What has happened is history now and we are making a fresh beginning."

On the otherside, Anas has stated, "There have been no personal differences between us. Deepika is just a co-actor and we continue to work with each other professionally. The incident was blown out of proportion."
