John Abraham has, until now, been following the traditional route of movie marketing. But it seems like the once-upon-a-time client-servicing executive will put to use his learning from the advertising industry in his movie promotions this time. Today, the actor will rappel down a hoarding in Gulmohar Road, Juhu, to unveil the first poster of his next film, Jhootha Hi Sahi, which releases on October 15. This is just for you to know, in case you see strange human figure jumping off a billboard.
The actual poster is covered by another, that reads, ‘John is a liar’ in bold letters. Today, at 3.30 pm, Abraham will rip the poster, while rappelling down from a height of 100 feet and unveil the first look of his romantic comedy directed by Abbas Tyrewalla.
Abraham confirms the strategy, but doesn’t divulge details. He says, “I’ve never been so excited about any promotional concept before. This is special.” The actor hadn’t shown any apprehension or fear as he recalled rappelling down 46 storeys for a scene in the film New York.

However, producer Madhu Mantena is more forthcoming: “Along with our marketing team, we figured this would be a more innovative way.”
Interestingly, the actor hasn’t yet rehearsed the stunt in a closed dummy set. But Mantena states that Abraham is a daredevil, raring to go: “We’ve considered the logistics and planned the entire stunt accordingly, including the necessary safety precautions. Besides, we will also have a medical team ready with an ambulance, just in case.”
Conceding the element of risk involved in the act, the producer asserts, “We’ve got the best safety experts to ensure that nothing happens to John.” He adds, “We can’t reveal exactly how John is going to go about it, as that would take away the suspense. You have to see it to believe it. We’re hoping for something spectacular.”
Since the stunt will take place along a main road, Mantena has acquired all the permissions required from the concerned authorities. “We’ll be blocking a small part, but that’s more from the security perspective. We want to ensure that no one else around is hurt either,” he says.
