It’s certainly a big break for both Alia and Arjun because the movie is co-produced by both Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala. Naturally, this one is no low-budget fare. Earlier it was said that Karan Johar will make an official announcement about Alia Bhatt being in 2 States only after SOTY hits theatres. Now when the movie is a hit and everyone has liked her, Karan along with Sajid Nadiadwala have finally decided that Alia suits the bill. Karan is highly impressed with Alia’s acting abilities, and that is why he is backing her.
It’s even heard that Alia Bhatt is being helped by Karan and his team to get into the skin of the character. The director of the film is Abhishek Verman, who is making his debut. Abhishek has earlier worked as a creative director on Karan’s films like My Name Is Khan (2010) and also Student Of The Year.
2 States is expected to go on the floors early next year after Arjun Kapoor is done with YRF’s Aurangzeb, directed by Atul Sabharwal.
Like in the novel, Arjun Kapoor will be seen as a Punjabi boy, while Alia Bhatt gets to play a beautiful and an intelligent South Indian girl. However, the common thread between Alia’s SOTY character and the role she will essay in 2 States is that in both the films she has boys falling for her -- a campus darling!
