Three stories, set in three different time periods, with three different characters. Common to them is the name David and their destinies.
Shaitan director Bejoy Nambiar’s next film David looks interesting at a first glance. Neil Nitin Mukesh plays a 30-year-old David, a hitman working for the gangster Iqbal Ghani in London. The year is 1975 and Ghani is a dreaded Mafia don who controls the entire Asian community. David is his protege poised to take over the empire until a revelation changes the course of his future.
Cut to Mumbai in 1999. 19-year-old David (Vinay Virmani) is a musician born into a family of devout Christians. He’s a happy-go-lucky teenager who loses all semblance of his peaceful existence when his family gets dragged into a political issue.
Cut to Goa in 2010. David (Vikram) is a fisherman living in the small fishing village of Betul in Goa. He falls in love with the deaf and mute Roma - the only hitch is that she is engaged to be married to his best friend Peter in 10 days!
All the three male leads impress in the trailer, but most impressive is Vikram as the fisherman who falls for a deaf-and-mute girl, played by Isha Sharvani. The trailer also gives us glimpses of the film’s actresses, namely Tabu, Lara Dutta and Monica Dogra.
What’s particularly interesting is how the director Bejoy Nambiar seems to have interwoven the three different stories together. Coming to theatres in February 2013, David is surely a film to look out for.
