Think Sunny Deol and visuals of the bulky actor thrashing 20 goons with one swing of a 2.5 kilo-fist (or water pump) come to mind. But the actor proved his critics wrong when his comic turn in Yamla Pagla Deewana (YPD; 2011) won over the audiences’ hearts. Now, Sunny is all set to don a new avatar,
that of a romantic guy, in his next film, I Love NY (New York).
Sunny DeolThe film is set to hit theatres on April 26, months before the sequel to YPD hits the screens on June 2.
Confirming the news, Bhushan Kumar head honcho of music label T-Series, who are producing the film, says, “This is something that Sunny has not done before. The sequel to his last film is coming out in June, so we wanted our film to release before that. April 26 is a very auspicious date.”
The film is jointly directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru and will also offer a fresh pairing as Kangna Ranaut plays the female lead opposite Sunny for the first time in their careers. The romantic-comedy is set in New York City and the story takes place over the span of one night.
“It’s like what Dharamji did. He was a big action hero but he also worked in breezy films like Chupke Chupke (1975). Ours is one of those kinds of film,” says Vinay.
The film is said to be almost complete but an insider reveals that the team is yet to shoot a song for it. “They will shoot the song in Bangkok soon and then the film will be ready for release,” says the source
