Composed by Pritam Chakraborty and sung by Arijit Singh, this is a number with a lot of teasing and raillery between the guy and the girl. Ranbir, dressed in a shimmery grey kurta and white pyjama, looks thinner but all the more supple for those dance moves of his.
Deepika Padukone is dressed in a red lehenga and choli. She’s the hard-to-get girl not taken in so easily by Ranbir Kapoor’s wooing.
The lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya are laced with banter. Sample this: “Tere liye hi toh signal tod taad ke, aaya Dilliwaali Girlfriend chod chaad ke,” he sings. She replies, “Teri aakh ka ishara mujhe fraud lagey, tu toh majnu awara by God lagey”.
The song, all in all, is just an average composition, but Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone’s dance moves are indeed worth a watch.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has Ranbir and Deepika playing former friends who reunite for a trip across India. The film also features Kalki Koechlin and Aditya Roy Kapur.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Karan Johar, the film is slated to release on May 31.
