Rapper-singer Honey Singh will appear before the Punjab and Haryana
High Court on Tuesday following and FIR filed against him for his
offensive songs.
Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Amitabh Thakur has filed an FIR against Honey Singh for vulgarity in his songs. Thakur has said that the rapper-singer should be punished for his obscene anti-women lyrics.
"The lyrics of his songs are vulgar and obscene. One song is called Mai Hoon Balatkari. Only online petitions and protests will not help in convicting Honey Singh. An FIR will, said Thakur.
"If Honey Singh found guilty of obscenity, he can be sentenced to three years imprisonment," added Thakur.
According to the sources, the FIR was lodged by Gomti Nagar police (Lucknow) on Thakur's complaint. The FIR was registered under sections 292, 293 and 294 of the IPC that are related to obscenity offences.
Honey Singh's New Year concert at a Gurgaon hotel was also cancelled following online protests against him.
