Basking in the glory of Raanjhanaa success, director Aanand L Rai confirms that the sequel of his 2011 hit Tanu Weds Manu is very much on. Actors R Madhavan and Kangna Ranaut are going to be back in the sequel.
Tanu Weds Manu was a surprise hit of the year 2011; it also established Kangna Ranaut as a versatile actress. The movie was a love story of an NRI doctor (Madhavan) and a feisty girl (Kangna), who does not believe in arranged marriages, and wants to marry her lover, a rogue, but later falls for the sweet NRI.
Earlier, too, there were rumours about the sequel, and that Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma could be roped in. But Aanand denies any such rumour, and tells the media that the second installment of Tanu Weds Manu will bring the original pair of Kangna Ranaut and Madhavan once again to the celluloid.
“There is a sequel, it’s in the system...the plan is still on. I don't know when it will go on floors. If its happening it will happen with same star cast -- Madhavan and Kangna will go ahead with the franchise. The film is incomplete without them,” Rai told the media people at the success bash of Raanjhanaa. Incidentally, Kangna, too made her presence felt at the success bash.
When asked about the Raanjhanaa sequel, the director said that he can’t make a second part to the film as it is over for him.
