The grapevine is abuzz with rumours about Sanjay Dutt having applied for a leave of furlough for the second time since his final incarceration. The actor is currently serving a 42-month sentence at Pune's Yerwada jail after he was convicted for illegal possession of weapons in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
A source close to the Dutts says, "He has submitted his application and is awaiting its acceptance." If accepted, the 55-year-old actor will get a 14-day leave, extendable by another fortnight.
The last time Sanjay came out of prison was in December last year when he was granted a month-long parole. It was extended by 30 days in January on account of his wife Manyata's illness. Prior to that, he was on a month-long leave of furlough on medical grounds — in October 2013. His prolonged stay out of prison had triggered a controversy, forcing the government to order an inquiry.
The actor, who featured in last week's release 'Ungli', will be seen next in Rajkumar Hirani's 'pk'.
