The highest civilian award Bharat Ratna will be conferred to thespian actor Dilip Kumar, Modi government is contemplating the idea.
"It's a routine procedure. Information on leading personalities from different walks of life is gathered while conferring Padma awards and Bharat Ratna," an official said on the condition of anonymity.
93 year old Dilip Kumar is unwell these days and the main concern is whether he will he be able to come to Delhi to receive the award will be conferred to him in Mumbai.
Official further said, "The Dadasaheb Phalke award was presented to film-star Shashi Kapoor in Mumbai recently. Similarly, Bharat Ratna too could be presented in Mumbai,"
Exception was made in the past when President Pranab Mukherjee gave award to ail Atal Bihari Bajpayee while Finance Minister Arun Jaitley flew to Mumbai to give Dadasaheb Phalke to Shashi Kapoor in Mumbai.
For his contribution in Hindi film, Dilip Kumar was awarded with Padma Bhushan(1991), Dadasaheb Phalke award (1994) and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
