Bollywood actor Geeta Basra who is said to be in a relationship with cricketer Harbhajan Singh said that she admires the off-spinner’s passion for his game and his down-to-earth personality. The actress, who will be seen in upcoming film ‘Second Hand Husband’, said she wanted to imbibe the same kind of passion for work.
Although Geeta and Harbhajan have never come clear on their relationship status, the actor is regularly seen on the stands during his matches. Reacting to a question in this regard, she said she feels more like a cricketer now, rather than an actor.
When asked if she was a lucky charm for the cricketer, she was quick to reply, “You need to ask him if I’m his lucky charm. But of course, it’s fun to be on the stands, especially when we are winning.”
Rumours were also rife that Bhajji and Geeta are tying the knot, but the actress is not at all bothered by these rumours.
The 31-year-old actor said she will only announce something when things get finalised. “Marriage is a very special time in a girl’s life and when it happens, I will announce it myself.”
“In the last one year the media has got me married seven times. Those reports don’t bother me, but I have friends and family to answer to,” said the actor who appeared opposite Emran Hashmi in the 2007 film ‘The Train’.
Not just speculation on a wedding date, the actor adds that she has read reports with full details. “I don’t want to make a joke of marriage and that is what happens when such stories appear. There are even reports with details about the wedding location and the guests arriving — which are all obviously untrue,” she said.
Talking about her upcoming film ‘Second Hand Husband’, the actor said she plays a Punjabi girl in it adding that she prefers playing roles she can’t relate to. “The only thing that is common between my character and I is that we are both Punjabis. I feel that as an actor, if you can convince your audience of something that you are not, you have succeeded,” Geeta said.
Smeep Kang directorial ‘Second Hand Husband’ is a comedy film which marks the Bollywood debut of Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja. The film also casts Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal besides veteran Dharmendra. The film is set to hit screens on July 3.
