Veteran Bengali cinema actor Ranjit Mallick, along with his wife, Deepa Mallick, daughter Koel Mallick, a popular Bengali cinema actress, and her husband Nispal Singh (Rane) have been tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Koel took to Twitter to reveal the news.
Ranjit, Deepa and Koel had been experiencing coronavirus symptoms - dry cough and difficulty in breathing - for the past two weeks. Their samples were collected for a swab test, and as per reports that came in today (Friday), they are coronavirus-positive.
Koel recently gave birth to their son, and since then, has been living with her parents in their home.
As of now, the family has been put in home quarantine as neither of them requires hospitalisation. The Kolkata police and the State Health Department are in constant touch with them and keeping a check on their health.
