Kailash Kher croons 3 songs in 90 minutes

It appears that Kailash Kher knows his time management as the Sufi singer has managed to complete 3 songs in less than 90 minutes.

One after the other, Kailash sung three songs in less than 90 minutes. The singer sung the first song for music director Sachin Gupta for the movie Democracy Pvt. Ltd..

Soon after that he recorded a jingle for a cement company he went on to sing for music director Aadesh Shrivastav.

He may have his hands full, but this proves his sincerity towards his work.

Before becoming an actor, Saqib was a chef

Saqib Saleem, who is making his acting debut with " Mere Dad Ki Maruti", used to work as a chef in his dad's restaurant in Delhi.

"Mere Dad Ki Maruti" is made by Y-Films, an arm of Yash Raj Films.

"Saqib was a chef at Saleem's, before he entered the industry. But he was keen to try his hand at acting," said Saqib's spokesperson.

His father is a restaurateur and runs a chain in Delhi. During his college days, Saqib briefly assisted his dad in running the restaurants. Later, he got interested in modelling and started getting offers from ad agencies and eventually shifted to Mumbai.

"Mere Dad Ki Maruti" is set to hit the screens March 15, after which he will be seen in Karan Johar's "Bombay Talkies".

I want to be as good as Priyanka: Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti Chopra loves Priyanka Chopra, but is somewhat wary of her star cousin's name being mentioned every time she is being discussed.
Parineeti now wants her own identity.

"I am proud to be Priyanka's sister. But I want to be known for myself, the way Ranbir Kapoor is known although he is Kareena Kapoor's cousin," said Parineeti who has been part of two hits Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl and Ishaqzaade.

"I don't want to be called only Priyanka's sister. I want to be as good as her. People should say Priyanka and Parineeti are both fabulous actors," she added.

However, she clarifies that she doesn't see Priyanka as competition at all.

"How can Priyanka be my rival? She is been here so much longer," she said.

Apart from acting, another common trait between them is that like Priyanka, Parineeti too is a trained singer. The former made her singing debut through international music single In My City.

"It runs in the family. My dad and Priyanka's dad are brothers. They used to sing together on stage. And when Priyanka and I were kids, we performed on stage together. So yeah, I love singing. If I get a chance to make a dream singing debut like Priyanka, I'd grab it. Maybe later. And I also love reading. But most of all I like sleeping. That's when I regain all my energy. Then I go out and act."

For her, self-discipline is a precondition.

"I was a focussed student in school and college. I want to continue that way as an actress," she said.

As for stardom, Parineeti rejects it at the moment.

"I am not a star at all! Stardom comes after years of work. It doesn't happen with two films. Let me get a solid seven-eight years of work done before we talk of stardom for me. I'm just lucky to be here at a time when audiences are willing to watch newcomers.

"Yeah, I do enjoy being recognised on the streets. If that didn't happen, I'd be really depressed. My aim is to be known by everyone who sees films. I don't want any viewer to ask, 'Parineeti who?' I am here for a very long time," she said.

Life has changed immensely: TV actress Roopal Tyagi

Television actress Roopal Tyagi, known for playing Gunjan in "Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke", says life has changed after she became popular.

"Life has certainly changed after becoming popular. I am the sort of a person who speaks her mind. Whether through my social networking status or BBM status, I used to write anything or everything," Roopal told.

"But now I have to be very careful as whatever I write or speak is printed," she added.

Roopal has been in the industry for five years and has done shows like "Humari Betiyoon Ka Vivah", "Dill Mill Gayye" and "Ek Nayi Chhoti Si Zindagi".

However, it was her role in 'Sapne Suhane...', which brought her to the limelight. It is aired on Zee TV.

Roopal is content with her career.

"It feels so nice to see how people are appreciating our hard work. Whenever I go out, people come to me and say good things about our work, it gives me huge satisfaction as an actor," she said.

"I always wanted to be an actor and kept finding ways to get into the industry. Now that I am finally a part of it, it makes me happy. It feels so nice to see how everyone on the set is so protective about each other. It has been a learning experience and I hope to do justice to whatever I do," she added.

Box ofifce: Crime vs romance this Friday

The first Friday of March has two entirely different movies hitting the box-office. If I Me Aur Main is a romantic drama, The Attacks of 26/11, is a crime thriller based on the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

"I Me Aur Main" revolves around three characters played by John Abraham, Chitrangda Singh and Prachi Desai.

Ishaan (John) is a charismatic, good-looking music producer from Mumbai. He stays at his girlfriend Anushka's (Chitrangda) house and takes his elder sister (Mini Mathur) and his mother (Zarina Wahab) for granted.

Fed up of his flirtatious nature, Anushka throws him out of her house.

Left with no option, he moves into a dilapidated house. While his mother leaves his father and moves in with him, his sister and his best friend are upset with him.

During a time when his life is going nowhere, his new neighbour Gauri (Prachi) comes into his life. From her, he learns the importance of relationships. He takes initiative to mend and maintain his relationships.

Eventually Ishaan starts liking Gauri.

Prachi says men will be able to relate to John's character and that after watching the movie they will start valuing women more.

"It is a kind of character which every man, every boy in our country is going to relate to. In general, there is a certain characteristic in all of them - they generally don't grow up that fast and because of that some become self-centred, and some are very selfish," she said.

"All these things are very relatable. It's about Ishaan (John's character) but at the same time there is so much about women in the film. I think when you will watch the film, you will start valuing us a little more," she added.

Directed by debutant Kapil Sharma "I Me Aur Main" has been reportedly made on a budget of less than Rs.20 crore. It has been produced by Shrishti Behl Arya and Goldie Behl.

Competing with "I Me Aur Main" is Ram Gopal Varma's gory drama "The Attacks of 26/11".

The narrative shows how 10 terrorists came to Mumbai and executed their plan of unleashing terror in key areas of the country's business capital.

In the movie, Varma has also included the execution of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist who was caught alive and hanged on Nov 21, 2012.

The director, known for making underworld dramas, has shown the exact sequence of events of 26/11, the night when 10 terrorists created havoc in Mumbai, killing 166 people.

Interestingly, "The Attacks of 26/11" has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) without any cuts, but with an 'Adults Only' certificate.

Nana Patekar will be seen as joint commissioner of police facing an enquiry over the attacks, while Sanjeev Jaiswal has been cast to play terrorist Ajmal Kasab.

Atul Kulkarni and Ganesh Yadav are also part of the cast.

"The Attacks of 26/11" was selected for Berlin International Film Festival, 2013 in the Panorama as well as the Competition section.

Directed by Varma and co-produced by Alumbra Entertainment and Eros International, the film is said to be a Rs.30 crore project.

"The Attacks of 26/11" will hit the screens with 1,100 digital prints and 165 analogue prints in Hindi and Telugu.

Acting was never planned: Sridevi

Sridevi flaunted saris in her comeback movie "English Vinglish" and looked pretty. The actress says in real life too she prefers Indian clothes, especially six yards, and she is not a brand person.

"Well, definitely I love good brands, but at the same time I am not obsessed with them. I go for anything as long as it looks good on me. I am definitely someone who prefers Indian clothes especially saris," the 49-year-old told IANS.

The actress was in the capital to inaugurate an exhibition.

Dressed up in Sabyasachi Mukherjee's anarkali suit, this was not the first time that she opted for his designs.

Talking about her fascination for the designer, she said: "I always like him and from 'English Vinglish' days, I really started liking his clothes. My favourites are Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi and of course, few more designers but these two really come first."

And what about her beauty secret?

"I am very health conscious. I also try to be happy and positive all the time. Also, one should check their diet," said the actress, who is married to filmmaker Boney Kapoor with whom she has two daughters - Jhanvi and Khushi.

The actress, who had a filmography of over 200 movies, made a grand Bollywood comeback last year with Gauri Shinde's directorial debut "English Vinglish". Recently she was named for the Padma Shri.

However, she says that acting was never a planned thing for her.

"Acting was never planned. I came to Chennai only for studies because my father was a lawyer and he was practising there. He always wanted me to study. So from Madurai, we shifted to Chennai only for the studies.

"When I was child, I got the offer from Sando Chinnappa Thevar and then things starting falling into my lap. I was the busiest child star doing three shifts a day. Then I became heroine, when I was 11 years and since then, there has bee no looking back," she said.

So what next?

"Nothing I am reading scripts and meeting people. If anything interesting will come across, I will say yes. I want the makers and directors to decide if I am good for the particular role or not."

Want kids but not marriage says Salman Khan

The most searched Bollywood superstar on Google, it was no suprise that Salman Khan decided to flex his social networking muscle as he made use of Google+ to engage fans and media and announce his new community, the Salman Khan Fan Club and launch a search for a Dabangg fan to manage the club.

But the most wanted Khan of Bollywood had a confession. He might be a novice when it comes to social networking skills, but kept things simple as he hung out with members of media on the social networking platform.

More than willing to answer anything that was asked of him, Salman said, that what he did in his personal space (read his bedroom) was his business, but beyond that he was public property.

So what was the secret of his success?

"No secrets. I do the same thing over and over again. I don't even reinvent myself."

But Salman has always managed to strike back, whenever naysayers have announced his end.

Salman laughs, "Yes, often you have no option but to strike back."

One of the fans on NDTV.Com asked him when would he marry and have kids. Salman quipped, "Marry, I don't know. But kids, I love them and want to have them. I am working on a way I can escape marriage and just have the kids."

Though that may break many female hearts, but we know he would be one daddy cool.

With his health problems and the hit and run court case, seems like the actor is going to have tough times ahead. Unruffled, Salman said, "I equate my life to a game of Snakes and Ladders. Sometimes I hit a six, I go up, then a four, I come down a bit and then a three, I am at my lowest. So, whatever my destiny is, it will happen but I will fight back to the best of my abilities."

And as he looks for the one Dabangg fan to manage his fan club, it's exciting times ahead for the franchise.

"Yes, Dabangg 3 is definitely happening and it would be on the making of Chulbul Pandey," the actor said.

Steering clear of controversies, Salman said he doesn't like to use social networking to clarify anything but just connect with his fans and have fun.

Well, here is one Tiger, who knows how and when to roar bright.

"Ankita & I are not married" - Sushant

Word that Sushant Singh Rajput would screen his film debut Kai Po Che in Patna for his family and friends has gone around this week.

While confirming his plans to indeed host a screening of his film in Patna, Sushant lays forward a pre-condition. "If there's a screening of my film in Patna, there has to be one in Indore as well. Indore is my girlfriend Ankita's home-town. To me, there is no difference between her home-town and mine. If I have a screening in Patna, I must have one in Indore as well. Her family and friends are mine."

TV actress Ankita Lokhande and Sushant have been dating for the last 4 years. There is a strong rumor that the two are already married.

Laughs Sushant, "I've been hearing those rumours for three years now. Why would we hide our marriage when we're so open about our relationship? When we get married we'd let the whole world know, because we've nothing to hide in our relationship."

At the moment, Ankita is entirely focused on Sushant's movie debut. "She is much more excited about Kai Po Che than I could ever be. According to Ankita, I am already a star. This is one time when I am not arguing with her," chuckles the far-from-nervous movie debutant.

Alia Bhatt says she is proud of her cousin Vishesh, who has made his debut as a director with Murder 3, which released Feb 15. "I saw it with the audience and I loved it. I think the Murder franchise has gone a step ahead with this film. I feel very proud as a sister. Vishesh has taken such a beautiful story and made it so interesting and gripping," Alia said.

In the first pic the actor is seen in a filthy red colored shirt and trouser alongwith a moustache while in the second pic Arjun in spotted in a casual trouser and half-sleeve T-shirt with a goggle around his eyes.

As the flick story suggest both the lead actors will play gangsters of 1970’s who later get involved in coal mafia.

The shooting of the flick is going on in Kolkata and has Priyanka Chopra in the lead role. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra “Gunday” is set to release by the end of this year.

Sonal Chauhan turns singer for 3G

Sonal Chauhan is the latest actress to turn singer. She has sung a song in her forthcoming film 3G and thanks music composer Mithoon for encouraging her by giving this opportunity.

"It was a very good experience and I would like to thank Mithoon for it because he encouraged me a lot. I have always been a big fan of his music. I think encouragement was necessary because I am not professionally trained in music," the 27-year-old said here on Monday at the music launch of the film at Big FM.

"Mithoon believed in me and he asked me to try it. I would like to thank Mithoon in front of everyone for giving me this opportunity, I love singing," she added.

Sonal has sung the song Kaise bataaoon along with KK.

Earlier, actors like Akshay Kumar (Special Chabbis), Aditi Rao Hydari (London, Paris, New York), Ayushmann Khurrana (Vicky Donor), Shah Rukh Khan (Josh), Aamir Khan (Ghulam), Amitabh Bachchan (Baghban, Kahaani, Natwarlal) among others have gone behind the mic.

Priyanka Chopra went a step ahead and launched her international single In My City.

Mithoon is also all praise for Sonal who, he says, was quick to point out her mistakes while recording it.

"If Sonal was able to sing, all credit for that goes to her because it takes a lot of courage to stand behind a mic and sing. The music director can hear every breath, he can notice everything," Mithoon said.

"When she was singing, I did not need to point out her flaws, she was pointing out her mistakes herself. No one is perfect but we should credit her for what she has done," he added.

3G is a horror film and features Neil Nitin Mukesh in the lead. Directed by Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chhibber, the film hits theatres on March 15.

Gangs Of Wassepur goes UK

Anurag Kashyap have been branded a torch-bearer of new-age Indian cinema but for him, it's a burden which he hates to carry.

He will be going to promote Gangs Of Wasseypur in London, which releases across Britain on February 23. Kashyap described the two-part grainy gangster flick as his most commercial film till now.

He quoted in an interview, "I hate being a poster boy, because he eventually becomes a dart board. I never consciously carried any kind of burden of new-wave Indian cinema but people have a tendency to label you. All I felt was that if there were more filmmakers who made cinema I relate to, then I could also co-exist. It would increase my chances of survival".

"I am very keen to see how it does in the UK. I know a lot of audiences here who have been waiting to watch it on the big screen. I hope it will benefit from all the word of mouth. The audience all around the world just enjoyed it. There has been a lot of analysis in India, but we tend to do that in India," he said.

The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year and proved a box-office hit in India. The flick is set in the mine fields of Wasseypur in Jharkhand and was shot completely in Kashyap's own hometown, Obra in Bihar.

"The only reason I was able to do everything was because I shot it in the town where me and my brother (fellow filmmaker Abhinav Kashyap) grew up. I used all my father's contacts, who was a senior engineer based there. People opened up their homes to me and were so excited about the film being shot there. Major on-screen blast sequences would have cost crores but I got them for free as I was told to just land up with my camera when a mine blast was happening," Kashyap quoted.

Kashyap has been compared to Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino as a result of a similar streak of barefaced gun fights in Gangs Of Wasseypur and its second part, which opens in the UK on March 2.

"I have stopped reacting to such comparisons. The only thing that has changed for me is that I now get paid for the movies I make; and that has taken 12 years. I have now consciously tried to extract myself from any labels. I don't want my name to figure anywhere and have even renamed my company Sikhya. Expectations are a killer. I wish I could be a new filmmaker with a new name with every film. I just want the freedom to make my films," quoted the 40-year-old artiste, who is also celebrated for his on-screen performances in films like I Am and Trishna.

The writer and the director behind award-winning films like Black Friday and Gulaal, now their focal point is only direction and they are also eager on exploiting the television medium with Western-style season-based dramas that are ingrained in Indian sensibilities.

"The biggest problem has been the first-generation Indian diaspora's control over film and TV content. They left India physically but not emotionally and were forcing the same stories down the second generation. And because the money was coming in dollars and pounds, that was the audience being catered to. But the next generation is now coming into its own and liberating itself. The mainstream itself is getting more rooted and when the mainstream gets rooted, everything else changes. The world has realized our cinema is changing and once the authorities in charge realize that too, it will reflect in the international awards scene as well," he said.

Prachi Desai turns princess for '1920'

Actress Prachi Desai will be seen playing the role of a princess in the third installment of Vikram Bhatt's horror series 1920.

Prachi said, "I have never played safe in my life. My debut film was not safe at all. I was surprised when my director Abhishek Kapoor called me for the film. We were all new, we took a risk and it worked for us. As long as it is a good film, the role is good I don't think anything would stop me."

The 24-year-old, made a successful change from television to films with projects like Rock On, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai and Bol Bachchan.

"I am doing Vikram Bhatt's 1920. It is a horror film, but I will not be wearing white clothes and colored lenses or scary make-up. I play a princess in that film. I will have a wide range of looks in the film," said Prachi.

"The film is based in 1920 and we will be shooting in London. I have not done something like this so I am really looking forward to this. It feels good to experiment," she said.

The film will be produced under the ASA banner, marking the directorial debut of Tinu Suresh Desai. If everything goes as per plan, the film will be released next year.

1920 is a successful franchise on its own, so a little of that will rub of on us... on part three. And also people have not seen me in a horror film. It is nice to keep doing different things," she said.

Priya is a very sorted and mature girl says John Abraham

Much has been said about how John Abraham met his current ladylove Priya Runchal for the first time. While speculations were rife that the two met at the gym where the actor and his former flame Bipasha Basu worked out, there were many fingers pointed at Priya for being an apparent home wrecker.

However setting the record straight, John clarifies that Priya and he in fact met through common friends, who worked at the Mumbai office of the World Bank.

At a promotional event for his upcoming film, John got rather candid about his love life. He stated, "Priya was here doing her stint at the World Bank. It was much later that she started coming to the same gym where I worked out."

While the two have been together for quite a while now, John says they are in no hurry to tie the knot. He says, "Right now Priya is studying and she has two more years to go. So it will happen once she completes her education. But we are in a very happy space right now."

The actor heaps praises on his sweetheart and adds that the couple tries and meets each other at least once in two months. "She is a very sorted and mature girl and we respect each other's space. She is in London right now."

In all her royal finery, Kareena Kapoor attended Saif Ali Khan's cousin's ubatna (haldi) ceremony in Bhopal

Decked in the traditional Bhopali costume and heirloom baubles, Bebo was accompanied by Saif's extended family.

Both Abraham brothers are winning awards

John says it's the best phase of their careers for both the Abraham brothers

It seems that there is no want of celebration in the Abraham household, as both John and his brother Alan are busy picking up awards for their respective careers.

While John's first production venture Vicky Donor has been winning awards at many galas, Alan has just won the award for the best architect for his design in a commercial space.

He won the award for designing John's office. The actor says, `Yes, these are happy times. Alan won this award from the Institute of Indian Interior Designers for designing my workplace.`

It's been a lucky year for John so far and the actor states, `I don't attend award shows but I am happy that my team does. It just reinforces my faith in the kind of scripts I believe in.` We wonder if Alan is all set to design an exclusive trophy room for John next!

Was Abhishek shying away from Salman?

AB was also supposed to perform at the show. However, his performance was recorded a day later

Apparently there were speculations that he didn't dance at the event due to host Salman's presence.

However, a source rubbishes the buzz and states, `In fact, when Salman came on the stage to start his act, he asked the audience to give him a standing ovation. Abhishek was one of the first people to cheer out loud for him. He didn't dance as he had a prior engagement.`

Friends comes first

Actor skips picking up his awards trophy to attend buddy's wedding

All eyes were on him when Abhishek Bachchan left a recently concluded award ceremony without receiving his award for Bol Bachchan. He was at the event for a while but didn't wait to collect his prize. The reason being that AB had to attend a close friend's wedding in Mahalaxmi.

A source says, `Abhishek was at the event hosted by Salman Khan and was seen spending time among the audience. But when his name was announced in an awards category, he was nowhere to be seen.`

Insiders say he had reached the venue for the awards gala at 8 pm with Karan Johar. He waited for a long time but he did not want to let his friend down. He left around 10 pm.`

My first time might be my last: Salman Khan on hosting awards

For a first-time host, Salman Khan seemed to have great fun at the Guild Awards on Saturday. The highlight of the event was his interaction with yesteryear superstar Hema Malini. After inviting her on stage, Salman asked Malini, who is a trained classical dancer, to show off some Bharatanatyam steps. She sportingly obliged and performed in front of the audience, which gave her a thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

Keeping the momentum alive, Salman told Malini that the song Hawa Ke Saath Saath (Seeta Aur Geeta; 1972) is his all-time favourite number, and asked if she would dance with him on the song? ‘With skates?’ asked Hema, to which Salman popped a huge skate-shaped prop. Both he and Hema stood on it and danced while lip-syncing the popular retro tune.

The entire time he was on stage, Salman didn’t stop cracking jokes on himself, especially about how nervous he was that evening. “This is my first time as a host, but the way it’s going, it might be my last.” But those present weren’t ready to buy that at all. Lyricist Prasoon Joshi, who came to give away an award, said to a grinning Salman, “You don’t seem or act nervous, but nervousness sure seems to be the theme of the evening. You are doing a good job.”

In his inimitable style, Salman Khan made his debut as an awards show host at Renault Star Guild Awards on Saturday. He kept the audience entertained and interacted with the celebrities, including Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan and Arjun Kapoor. But it was his interaction with Hema Malini that deserves special mention. Salman revealed how ‘Dream Girl’ Malini inspired him on many occasions since he was a child.

After inviting her on stage to present an award, Salman admitted to being a huge fan. He seemed shy around her. He said he was present on the sets of her 1972 film, Seeta Aur Geeta, before recalling that in the scene shot that day, Malini wore a shirt, trousers and a scarf, and had a tomboyish look for her part as Geeta.

As Malini blushed, Salman added that she struck a pose in that scene that he went on to adapt in his own body language. He even stepped off stage and sat on a chair to demonstrate what he was talking about, before giving her credit for what is now, his signature posture.

3G an original concept, film says Neil Nitin Mukesh

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh states that his forthcoming film 3G is completely original, and unique in its concept.

"First of all, I want to add to all the statements that it is an original concept and a story. It is very important for you all to know that it is not a take off from any of the Hollywood films as probably people would think," the 31-year-old said here Friday at the first look launch of the film.

"I have been questioned about it earlier, (but) it is a very original idea," he added. 3G is a horror film that revolves around a mobile phone and the situations that ensue after Neil's character buys it.

For Neil, who is known for playing edgy characters in films like Johnny Gaddaar, Aa Dekhen Zara, Jail and most recently David, it is the thrill of playing something completely opposite to his real self that attracts him to dark roles.

"As far as playing edgy characters is concerned, I am just a 31-year-old child in person. In personal life, I am not at all edgy, I am not at all like the characters I play on screen and that's the whole fun of playing characters on screen which are nice, edgy and dark," Neil said.

"It has to be a flip, there has to be a challenge. Go out there, face the camera and be a person you are not in real life. 3G again for me is very dark, very edgy and very scary," he added.

Co-directed by Sheershak Anand and Shantanu Ray Chhibber, 3G, releasing on March 15, also stars Sonal Chauhan.

9XM registers name in Limka Book of Records

Music channel 9XM has entered the Limca Book of Records for creating the biggest wall of music in India. The digital wall, created for World Music Day in 2012, enabled viewers to download free music for a day.

Music channel 9XM celebrated the World Music Day on June 21, 2012, by installing the 31 ft X 10 ft wall at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai and in The Great India Place, Noida.

"Within a time-frame of 12 hours, approximately 10,000 downloads were reported," read the certificate from the Limca Book of Records editor.

Based on the Augmented Reality technology, the wall enabled multiple songs downloads from the latest Bollywood movies. People could scan the Bollywood movie posters placed on this wall, with their smartphone devices, and for those without smartphones, could do so via an SMS.

"We are extremely delighted to know that our efforts are being recognised by the Limca Book of Records. We capitalised on the opportunity to engage with music lovers in Mumbai and Delhi and created a lasting impression in their lives," Kapil Sharma, vice president and marketing, 9X Media Pvt. Ltd., said in a statement.

"It is the uniqueness and the scale of this initiative has brought this recognition to our channel," he added.
