Single mother Shipra Khanna, who belongs to Shimla, on Sunday, bagged the title of MasterChef India in its second season, which came to her as a New Year gift.
The confident 29-year-old contestant defeated Salma Shazia Fathima from Bengaluru, who was the first runner-up as well as Joseph Rozario from Siliguri, who stood at the third position.
Actor Akshay Kumar came as a guest with the finale cooking challenge, which was telecasted in two parts both on Saturday and Sunday. Joseph got evicted in its first part and the two ladies went over to the final level.
Both Shipra and Shazia gave a tough fight to each other and prepared innovative dish for 100 commoners, who voted them afterwards and made Shipra win with the majority of 53 votes.
The winner got the prize money of INR 1 crore, four days and three nights vacation in London and chance to host her own show on Star Plus.
Shazia got INR 10 lakh and Joseph INR 5 lakh as well as job in Mumbai's Radisson hotel.
