The trailer begins with a voiceover in Aditya Roy Kapur’s voice -- “Pyaar, mohabbat, aashiqui sirf lafzon ke siva kuch nahi..par jab woh milee in lafzon ko maaine mil gaye..”. The love-struck boy rejoices in the newfound love and the song plays in the background is Kyunki tum hi, haan tum hi ho..zindagi... Then follow a series of romantic scenes between the two lovers.
While Aditya as a lover and a singer is a far cry from Rahul Roy in the original, Shraddha Kapoor as a simple girl-next-door is impressive and emotes mostly through her eyes. Her face may not remind you of Anu Aggarwal, but her acting does.
As both Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur are set to revive the sweet 90s’ romance with Aashiqui 2, one may wonder about the storyline of the film. Well, according to the director Mohit Suri, the film has a fresh story and is not exactly a sequel. The movie is a musical journey of two lovers who go through love and hate, twists and turbulence, success and failure in their lives.
Since the music of 1990 film Aashiqui created history and was a big hit, Mohit Suri has tried to recreate the charm of the musical love story with 10 romantic songs in the sequel. The music of the film is by Mithoon (of Woh Lamhe fame) and Jeet Ganguly. The makers have already released the first song of the film, Tum Hi Ho (a Mithoon composition) -- the song was celebrated in the teaser as well.
