I want to make a simple love story with music: Madhur Bhandarkar

Keen to foray into the romantic genre, National Award-winning director Madhur Bhandarkar Thursday revealed that he is thinking about making a "realistic and romantic" musical.

"Definitely there is a musical, which is under consideration... it will be romantic and realistic. There is no confirmation yet... it is in the pipeline," Bhandarkar told reporters on the sidelines of an interactive session on 'Women In Cinema' organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry's (FICCI) Ladies Organisation.

Bhandarkar, who drew plaudits for his films like 'Chandni Bar', 'Satta', 'Page 3' and 'Fashion', said it would be a personal challenge to make a love story.

"I want to make a simple love story with music. It is a genre I haven't ventured into. I thought it would be challenging for me to make a romantic movie. In fact, I am also a romantic person," said Bhandarkar.

Having made 'Heroin - Zindagi Ke Panno Se' for the TV series 'Specials@10', the ace lensman is open to the idea of directing for the small screen.

"If I have a good subject with a concept, then definitely I would love to be a creative director on TV. Now, I will start two movies, so I will be busy with my script. But if something excites me, then definitely I will make it," said Bhandarkar.

I don't want to get the best girl award, says Huma Qureshi

Actress Huma Qureshi says her family is conservative when it comes to film culture, but they are changing and accepting the ways of the industry.

"My family is very conservative, but now they have changed and accept many things. They understand the choices that we make," Huma, whose family is settled in Delhi, told IANS.

The 'Gangs of Wasseypur' (GOW) actress said her parents were apprehensive about sending her and her brother Saqib Saleem of 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti' fame to Mumbai.

"Now, when some negative stories come out, both of us get very nervous that mum would have read the newspaper, but when she calls up, she is absolutely normal. They understand and they never question us.

"They have been very supportive. My mum says this is part of the deal and you will have to take it with a pinch of salt and you can't let it affect you," she added.

Huma was recently in the news for her alleged linkup with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who was instrumental in launching her in Bollywood with GOW.

Commenting on this, Huma said: "I am an emotional person, but that doesn't mean everyone's opinion matters to me. There are very few people whose opinion matters to me."

"I don't want to get the best girl award. If I'd think about other people, my work will suffer. When I read some negative stories, my brother wonders when these things happened... I just tell him, let's deal with it."

Huma's brother is her best friend.

"Although he is much younger, he is far more intelligent than I am," the 26-year-old said.

"Saqib is someone very sensible and I am his bouncing board...It's great to have somebody whom you can trust. Since he is my brother, he gives me good opinions because he knows our family, where we come from. He will also think emotionally about it," she added.

After crime thriller GOW, Huma was seen in light-hearted film 'Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana' and supernatural thriller 'Ek Thi Daayan' and is happy about not being typecast.

"I am happy that I have not been typecast because I don't want to be typecast. As actors we are scared about something new, but I am not trying to be fearful. I am trying to think what other people are not thinking. I am just doing what I want to do."

Her next is action movie 'D-Day'. Directed by Nikhil Advani, the film also features Rishi Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Irrfan, and Shruti Haasan.

I am a director's actor, says Kareena Kapoor Khan

After giving many power-packed performances in her decade-long career, Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor admits she follows her director's advice religiously on the sets.

Kareena, 32, was here to launch the worldwide trailer of Prakash Jha's Satyagraha, in which she plays a headstrong journalist.

"We are familiar with popular women journalists on TV like Barkha Dutt and Christiane Amanpour. Their personalities influence everyone and I am lucky that I have also got the chance to essay the role of a journalist on screen. But ultimately I am a director's actor and don't really believe in preparing much; I followed whatever Prakashji wanted from my character. I have always wanted to work in a Prakash Jha film," she said.

The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpai.

Satyagraha centres around the recent phenomenon of mass movements around the world, challenging the establishment and thereby making a change.

Devgn, who is on a family holiday here, said the film is an entertaining one and engages the audience thoroughly. "All that it points out is that if you want change, you have to make it happen yourself. But it is basically an entertainer. The audience don't want to be educated through films, they want to be entertained. And, Prakash Jha is a filmmaker who has managed to strike that golden balance of engaging with the audience and saying what he wants to say at the same time," said Devgn.

The film will hit theatres on August 23.

Terminator new trilogy to begin in 2015

Skydance Productions, Annapurna Pictures and Paramount Pictures have jointly announced they will partner on a rebooted Terminator movie, to be released on June 26, 2015.

The first in a stand-alone trilogy, Terminator will be produced by Megan Ellison of Annapurna and David Ellison of Skydance. Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake of Skydance will serve as executive producers.

Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) are attached to write the screenplay, reported Ace Showbiz.

Launched in 1984 with star Arnold Schwarzenegger as the title character, Terminator spanned 3 subsequent films, which have earned over USD 1 billion at the worldwide box office.

The new Terminator movie initially secured Justin Lin as its helmer back in 2011. However, Lin ended up bowing out of the project as he decided to focus more on Fast and Furious 6. Though Lin had said that he would be willing to return post-Fast 6 production, there is still no official word on whether he is invited back or not.

Salman Khan Launches Katrina Kaif’s Sister Isabel

Katrina Kaif’s sister Isabel Kaif is getting a grand entry into the film business. The younger Kaif has just finished shooting for her first movie ‘Dr. Cabbie’. And guess who is backing her! None other than Katrina Kaif’s ex-boyfriend Salman Khan.

‘Dr. Cabbie’ is being directed by Jean-François Pouliot. The film, an English-language movie, features an international cast with a few Indian actors. ‘David’ actor Vinay Virmani plays the male lead. ‘G. I. Joe: Retaliation’ star Adrianne Palicki and ‘The Big Bang Theory’ star Kunal Nayyar also feature in the film. Isabel Kaif plays Kunal Nayyar’s romantic interest.

One would wonder why Isabel Kaif took up such a short role in the film when she could, under Salman Khan’s supervision, take up any Bollywood project. Will this short role in an Indo-Canadian production affect Isabel Kaif’s Bollywood prospects? No one can say for now.

Isabel Kaif will be making her Bollywood debut, though, opposite Sonam Kapoor’s brother Harshvardhan Kapoor in a film tentatively titled ‘Coming Home’. Could this be her breakthrough in Bollywood?

We are sure fans will want to see Katrina Kaif and Isabel Kaif in a film together soon. Time will tell whether Isabel Kaif’s career in Bollywood is as successful as her elder sister’s.

Qawwali from Imran’s ‘OUATIMA' to be released today to avoid Ramzan

Keeping religious sentiments in mind, a qawwali track from Imran Khan's upcoming film ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbai again’ will be released today, earlier than the scheduled release during Ramzan.

Going by the popular consensus, everybody believed that not everyone would probably be able to tune in to the song during the holy month of Ramzan. But actor Imran Khan convinced the makers to release the track, days in advance.

Imran’s uncle Aamir is known to be an expert at marketing strategies and it looks like even bhaanja is not far behind. According to sources, the Tayyab ali track, that has been inspired by Amar Akbar Anthony, was to release in the second week of July.

“Imran will be launching the song at the famous Mohammed Ali Road. The location was decided keeping in mind the theme of the track. Imran requested the makers to alter the date of release as he felt it would coincide with the ongoing Ramzan month,” a source said.

“The song is very special to me and I want everyone to be able to enjoy it,” said Imran.

SRK To Be Seen In Marathi Song

Shah Rukh Khan played a South-Indian in ‘Ra.One’, a Goan in ‘Josh’. And now the actor is all set to speak Marathi, and feature in his first ever Marathi music video composed by Shekhar Ravijani of Vishal-Shekhar fame.

Shekhar Ravijani met Shah Rukh Khan at a recording studio and played the track ‘Saanvli’. Shah Rukh Khan liked the track instantly and agreed to feature in the video, which will be directed by noted Marathi film director Ravi Jadhav.

It’s a romantic number and it is just apt that Shah Rukh Khan plays a part in the video. Shekhar also has confirmed that Shah Rukh is going to make an appearance in the music video.

The song is written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and sung by Sunidhi Chauhan.

The star managed to sing a few lines from a song in his upcoming film ‘Chennai Express’ during the trailer launch, which incidentally is also composed by Vishal – Shekhar.

While Shah Rukh Khan may not sing the lines on his own, his presence in the video is only enough to make it a huge success.

Movie Review : Ghanchakkar

Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan, Rajesh Sharma, Namit Das.

Director: Rajkumar Gupta

Producers: Ronnie Screwvala, Siddarth Roy Kapur

Music: Amit Trived
Rating: ***

Plot: Much was expected from this Rajkumar Gupta comic-thriller ‘Ghanchakkar’ and boy did it deliver! This Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan combination worked for The Dirty Picture and this odd-whacky pairing has done its trick yet again! The movie is about Sanju (Emraan) and Neetu (Vidya) and their monotonous nagging married life and how then comes a crazy turn in Sanju’s life. Pandit (Rajesh Sharma) and Idris (Namit Das) call Sanju one night and plan a bank robbery. And yes, he agrees, you know that! What you don’t know yet is the way they rob the bank. Outright hilarious with those Amitabh and Dharmendra masks. A highlight, I shall say!

And then comes the ‘twist’. They decide to let Emraan keep the money until three months after which he meets with an accident following the bank heist and suffers from ‘partial-memory-loss’. No, so they did not copy Ghajini. Now Pandit and Idris decide to literally stay with him at his place giving him a week’s time to work on his memory issues. Followed by some stupendous comical punches and some funny sequences, the movie blemishes towards the end. But still a breath of fresh air!

Technical-aspect: The starts brilliantly but somewhere down the second-half, you just find yourself staring at the screen. The ending is not so witty and you feel a bit deceived unless you’ve enjoyed some really punchy dialogues and scenes. The music is just mediocre and the movie starts with the song ‘Lazy Lad’, maybe they are referring to the screenwriter who dropped the tempo towards the end.

Performances: Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan both give good performances though Vidya’s costumes were ridiculous. But, part of the movie. Anyway, Rajesh Sharma plays an intriguing character in contrast to his partner Namit Das and both have delivered in the right sense.

Arjun Kapoor's birthday bash

Here is a video snippet of celebs attending Arjun Kapoor's 28th birthday bash hosted by Sonam Kapoor at her residence.

Interesting highlights here seem to be a sweaty Ranveer Singh and his interactions with the media ;-)
We could also spot Sonam's brother Harsh Kapoor attending to Ranbir Kapoor as he left the venue.

Deepika and Alia headed out together while Arjun and Ranveer were seen leaving the venue in another car. Once can only wonder if the 4 got together some place for another bash.

Salman Khan starts a website on his legal cases

Salman Khan’s legal wrangles are not few, nor uncomplicated. To apprise his fans, and the media, about the latest development and the history of these legal cases, the 47-year-old superstar has started a website.

Explaining the rationale behind launching the website, Salman goes on to write, “Certain court cases are filed against me. There is widespread media reporting of these cases. The reports are sometimes inaccurate and misleading, and cause damage to my reputation, both professional and personal. I have been advised to put up this website to provide easily accessible factual information about the ongoing status of these cases. This website will be updated by my advocates from time to time.”

The website is

Just a cursory glance at the website shows updates regarding the 2002 hit-and-run case in which Salman Khan’s application for a review of a Magistrate court order was dismissed on Monday. It also states that Salman’s lawyer intends to challenge the dismissal of the Criminal Revision Application in Bombay High Court.

On June 24, Salman’s application was dismissed and it was observed by the Mumbai sessions court that the actor can be tried under the stringent culpable homicide not amounting to murder charge that attracts a maximum jail term of ten years.

The case will now be listed on July 19, 2013 for the framing of charges against Salman Khan.

Revealed: Aamir Khan's future daughter-in-law

Does that sound a shocker to you? Well, superstar Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan is a big boy now, and yes, he is having a girlfriend too. And, if reports are to be believed, the couple is very serious about their relationship. Junaid Khan, son of Aamir and his ex-wife Reena, is having an affair with a girl named Sonam Verma.

And now, it would be interesting to see how far does this relationship go? Though it is too early to decide, but wonder if Sonam is Aamir's future daughter-in-law! Junaid, who just 18-years-old, has taken up filmmaking, unlike his actor father Aamir. As per the reports, the Khan Junior is currently busy assisting director Rajkumar Hirani on his upcoming film, Peekay. Peekay will feature Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma in the leads. If things go really well, we hope to see Junaid making good films in future.

Ranbir ,Katrina can’t keep their ‘romance’ under wraps

The old saying about the impossibility of keeping love and fragrance hidden holds true in the case of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. In bits and spurts, their cautiously-guarded romance seems to be bubbling out in full view.

Try as much they might, Katrina and Ranbir can’t keep off the radar of rumours. Though the duo has let on to the world that they are just friends, the repeated sightings of Ranbir Kapoor at her pad, and also of Katrina Kaif at his, has already led the rumourmongers to believe that this bonding has sped past mere friendship and become something special. L’amour?

The evidence is piling up fast to prove the rumours right. Just last Friday, we informed you about Ranbir and Katrina partying together with Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao and screenwriter-filmmaker Melanie Easton at a resto-bar. Melanie had a close-up view of Ranby-Kat chemistry and revealed on Twitter: “They sat together at the table and were chatting and some hand touching happened.”

And now we have come across a picture on social networking sites that shows Katrina dining with Ranbir and his mom Neetu Kapoor and friends. (check out ahead)

Looks like Ranbir’s mom too has given a nod of approval to the couple. Neetu Kapoor’s opinion is very important for Ranbir, who has admitted to being a mama’s boy.

Ahead, ApunKaChoice brings you the occasions when Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif were spotted at an outing. At times they tried not to be photographed together (which again suggests something must be brewing between them). At times, the paparazzi caught them unguarded.

Satyagraha will influence the youth: Kareena

Prakash Jha-directed Satyagraha depicts the common man's reaction to the sorry state of affairs and shows their angst and disappointment with the system, said the actors featuring in the upcoming film.

The film, which will hit the theatres in August, stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpayee, Kareena Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and Amrita Rao.

"We are living in an India where I think we deserve a better standard of living. I think Satyagraha is the ideal way for common man to show their angst and disappointment," Amrita told reporters here at the first trailer launch of the film.

Amrita plays daughter-in-law of Big B.

"A revolution...a movement happens in every part of the world when people are disappointed with the state of affair in their country," Manoj said.

"It (Satyagraha - a Gandhian method of agitation) is a peaceful way of revolution," Ajay said. Bachchan plays a man who is a firm believer in truth. He is like a new age Gandhi. "It (Satyagraha) was started in Ireland several years ago. I believe truth always prevails," Big B said.

Manoj plays a young politician who uses every means to break the system. He is the real threat to democracy.

Ajay, a successful entrepreneur, represents shining India, while Kareena dons the role of a firebrand TV reporter.

"I am sure the film will influence the youth. I had great time doing the film," Kareena said.

The film's promo gave the feel that Satyagraha is inspired by the 2011 Anna Hazare movement. But Jha said film had nothing to do with Hazare and its about father-son relation.

The trailer was launched globally. Ajay and Kareena were in London, while the rest of the team was present in Mumbai.

Hrithik Roshan unveils the first look of Krrish 3

With all the hype being built around Hrithik Roshan’s upcoming superhero film Krrish 3, does the motion poster of the flick live up to your expectations?

The motion poster was unveiled on Thursday afternoon. Hrithik Roshan tweeted: “To the SUPERHERO inside each n every one of you.. Realise it! Reveal it! Watch the first look.”

And what is it we see in the first look? A frozen shot of a superhero’s sculpture blown to smithereens. It’s a foggy scene of apocalyptic destruction. A severed hand popping out of the rubble of stones and boulders; a car upturned; and in the backdrop the hazy silhouette of a skyscraper. All this is revealed to the accompaniment of ominous music.

The poster ends with the fading in of a profile of the superhero Krrish, mirrored by the profile of a masked antagonist.

Needless to say, Hrithik Roshan plays the caped superhero. Vivek Oberoi plays the antagonist. Priyanka Chopra plays Hrithik’s love interest.

The release of the motion poster is a part of the digital campaign, spearheaded by Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt Ltd. On Thursday, Hrithik Roshan first had a Facebook live video chat and then released the motion poster.

Directed by Rakesh Roshan, Krrish 3 is slated to release on November 4, a day after Diwali.

Do you like the film’s motion poster?

Jaslok Hospital Serves Legal Notice In The SRK Surrogacy Case

Varsha Deshpande of ‘Lek Wachwa Andolan’ was responsible for getting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Shah Rukh Khan’s tail regarding the alleged sex-determination issue. But little did she know that she’d in turn have a legal notice to her name.

Representatives of Jaslok Hospital and Dr. Firuza Parikh, Director of the IVF Centre at Jaslok Hospital have served Varsha Deshpande a legal notice for making false statements regarding the alleged sex-determination and surrogacy done by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.

The notice states that neither Jaslok Hospital nor Dr. Firuza Parikh are involved in the alleged sex-determination and surrogacy.

The notice claims that Dr. Firuza Parikh is a celebrated doctor, among the top ten in India, and has been a pioneering doctor at Jaslok Hospital since 1989. She has even invented techniques like Cumulus Aided Transfer, using it for the first time in the world.

The notice also reveals that Dr. Firuza Parikh had, in fact, called up Varsha Deshpande to clarify about the issue, but apparently Varsha Deshpande acted rude towards her and said that she did not believe the doctor or the hospital.

The notice further asks Varsha Deshpande to provide the details of the sources of the alleged information and “tender an unconditional apology” failing which she would be held accountable for defamation and for maligning Jaslok Hospital and Dr. Firuza Parikh.

The entire alleged sex-determination and surrogacy issue has resulted in a messy time not only for Shah Rukh Khan, but for the activist Varsha Deshpande as well. We’ll wait and watch how this goes.

Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor Play Cops In ‘Besharam’; Confront Ranbir Kapoor

Abhinav Kashyap has managed to bring the Kapoor clan together on the big screen for his sophomore effort ‘Besharam’. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor were spotted shooting at a defunct mill along with their son Ranbir Kapoor.

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor were sporting police uniforms on set of ‘Besharam’, and their scene included having a lengthy conversation with Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor’s character’s name in ‘Besharam’ is deemed to be Pepsi, a bindaas but macho person.

Abhinav Kashyap shot three scenes at the mill for ‘Besharam’. The first involved the emotional sequence between Ranbir Kapoor and his parents. Are Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor’s police characters at odd with Ranbir Kapoor’s Pepsi? Abhinav Kashyap was happy with Ranbir Kapoor’s dialogue delivery in this scene.

Another scene for ‘Besharam’ shot at the mill included Ranbir Kapoor’s Pepsi interacting with 15-20 children, all between seven-eight years of age. Ranbir, we hear was quite the guardian to these children, even guiding them if they seemed lost.

The third scene shot for ‘Besharam’ was a climactic action sequence choreographed by action director Shyam Kaushal.

In between scenes while shooting for ‘Besharam’, Ranbir apparently indulged in all kinds of behaviour, at times showing his mother Neetu Kapoor images and messages on his phone. Sometimes, the actor just sat on his seat and meditated on his next scene or reflected on his performance in the previous scene. He even went for a walk with his phone a few times.

Even though Ranbir Kapoor is a superstar now, especially after his star turn in ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, it is Rishi Kapoor whom the director respects and consults between shots on ‘Besharam’. After every scene involving the senior Kapoors, Abhinav Kashyap would go up to Rishi Kapoor and ask him whether he felt the shot was fine. If Abhinav Kashyap himself felt something was amiss, he would inform the Kapoors and they would reshoot the scene in question.

Overall, looks like ‘Besharam’ is turning out to be quite the anticipated release we want it to be. Coming off Dabangg, we are interested in what Abhinav Kashyap wants to portray in ‘Besharam’ with Ranbir Kapoor. ‘Besharam’ also stars Pallavi Sharda opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Javed Jaffrey in a negative role. The film also has Lalit Pandit of Jatin-Lalit fame composing the music.

‘Besharam’, which has the tagline “Na sammaan ka moh, na apmaan ka bhay”, releases tentatively on 2 October, 2013.

Is’ Ghanchakkar’ Copied?

Raj Kumar Gupta will not be a happy man. Just a week before the release of his third film ‘Ghanchakkar’, it has been charged with a legal notice by little-known writer Dhirendra Kumar for allegedly copying the story off a script penned by him.

Dhirendra Kumar claims that he had written the script from which the story of ‘Ghanchakkar’ was lifted way back in 2010-2011 and that he had registered it the same year too. He also claims that he had eventually met Raj Kumar Gupta through the Film Writers’ Association and had narrated his script to him. He recently came across the promos of ‘Ghanchakkar’ on television and that’s when he tried to find out more about the film.

Dhirendra Kumar then filed a complaint with the Film Writers’ Association on 20 May, 2013. He said that after he had registered a complaint with the Writers’ Association, he was asked to “appear for a meeting by the dispute settlement committee.” But he claims that he was eventually told that the meeting had been postponed.

After that, he has now sent a legal notice to the production house of the film – UTV – seeking a stay order on the release of the film. ‘Ghanchakkar’ is to release on 28 June, 2013. Advocate Satish Mishra, representing Dhirendra Kumar, said that he expects the court to put a stay order on ‘Ghanchakkar’ by Monday. “The writer’s name has not even been mentioned on the promotional hoardings,” he said.

Dhirendra Kumar claims that the production house has not yet replied. A spokesperson from UTV, which has produced ‘Ghanchakkar’, on the other hand, said, “We have received a notice from the lawyer of the said individual and we will reply to it. Needless to say, there is absolutely no truth to his claims.”

Plagiarism charges against films that are just about to release aren’t new in Bollywood. Last year, Ashwini Chaudhary had a lawsuit filed against her film Jodi Breakers by the producers of the French film Heartbreakers. Ashwini Chaudhary won that particular case. For now, it is a tense wait to see whether ‘Ghanchakkar’ will release this Friday or not.

'D Day' was most challenging role for me: Shruti Haasan

Actress Shruti Haasan says she could not let go of the opportunity to work in forthcoming movie "D Day" as it is the most challenging role for her so far.

The 27-year-old, who was seen playing a simple girl in the recently released "Ramaiya Vastavaiya", is glad that she is part of the movie, which is helmed by Nikhil Advani.

"When I was approached for this film, I couln't say no to it. It's the most challenging role so far. I am glad I am part of this film," Shruti said.

Shruti, who made her Bollywood debut with 2009 movie "Luck", will be seen opposite actor Arjun Rampal. She insists that her role in the movie is not bold.

"I won't say bold but it's a very sensual role and Arjun Rampal made me feel very comfortable. Arjun is a wonderful co-star to work with," she said.

"D Day" also stars Rishi Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Irrfan in prominent roles. It is slated for July 19 release.

After Sanjay Dutt, now Salman Khan to go to jail for 10 yrs?

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan must be tense today (Monday, June 24) as a session court in Mumbai is likely to deliver its verdict on the actor's plea in connection with Hit and Run case.

The actor may follow his Bollywood colleague -- Sanjay Dutt to jail as it was reported that Salman Khan may face 10-year-imprisonment if the court convicts the actor for culpable homicide not amounting to murder charge.

The actor had appealed against a magistrate's order for his retrial in the 2002 hit-and-run case under stringent charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Salman Khan was earlier tried by a magistrate under lesser charge of causing death by negligence (Section 304A of IPC), that provides for a maximum punishment of two years in jail.

However, in a twist to the case, the metropolitan magistrate, after examining 17 witnesses, had brought forth the more serious charge of culpable homicide against the 47-year-old actor and transferred it to a sessions court for re-trial.

Advancing his argument against invoking the grave charge of 'culpable homicide not amounting to murder' under section 304 part II IPC, Salman's lawyer Ashok Mundargi had pleaded that the magistrate's order was "erroneous, bad in law and contrary to evidence on record."

The magistrate, he contended, had failed to appreciate that Salman Khan had neither the intention (to kill people) nor the knowledge that his rash and negligent driving would kill a person and cause injury to four others.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt lately was sent to Pune's Yerwada Jail as he was convicted in arms act in connection with Bombay blasts 1993 case. Of the total term of five years, Dutt has already served 18 months in jail two decades ago and the Supreme Court, in its order of March 21, asked him to serve another 42 months.

"Launching the trailer with a big film guarantees many eyeballs.
I am going to talk to Shah Rukh or UTV about the same," director-producer Rakesh Roshan said in a statement.

Dharmendra's Daughter Gets Engaged

Wedding bells, or more specifically, bhangra beats are possibly being sounded in the Deol household.  Dream girl Hema Malini and India’s Greek God Dharmendra’s daughter, Ahana Deol was engaged to Delhi businessman Vaibhav Vora over the weekend. The low profile ceremony was conducted in the presence of a small gathering.
Sparks flew between the young couple when they met at Ahana’s older sister Esha’s wedding to businessman Bharat Takhtani in June, although sources reveal that it was a love-cum-arranged match, since the couple had met a few years ago.

There has been no looking back for the lovely Ahana, who performs with her mother at dance concerts and operates a studio in her home. The same can be said of the dashing Vaibhav, scion to his family’s logistics management company called Continental Carriers.

The wedding date is yet to be announced although Mama Malini cannot help but gush over the to-be son-in-law. Sources reveal her as saying, “We all are very happy. Vaibhav is a very nice boy. It was a special day for us. Our blessings are with them.”

Love has been floating in the air in Bollywood, with Riteish Deshmukh-Genelia D’Souza and Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor getting hitched in the previous year. With the daughter of Bollywood’s most celebrated on and offscreen couple soon to be bound in nuptial bliss, the fans would await with bated breath as the marriage could well be on its way to be the media event of that year.

Sonakshi Sinha has a new name in OUATIMA

In order to avoid controversy, the makers of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai Again have changed the screen-name of the leading lady Sonakshi Sinha.

In the film directed by Milan Luthria, Sonakshi essays the role of Yasmeen, the love interest of the character Shoaib played by actor Akshay Kumar.

But the makers decided to change the name to Jasmeen after learning that 'Yasmeen Joseph' is the original name of yesteryear's actress Mandakini.

A statement from the makers said they were oblivious to this fact and were stunned by the coincidence.

The change has required re-dubbing of some portions.

The film produced by Ekta Kapoor and starring Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonali Bendre is set to release on August 15.

`Shortcut Romeo` Neil Nitin Mukesh backs Sonam Kapoor`s `Raanjhanaa`

Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh`s own film ‘Shortcut Romeo’ released Friday, but he also wishes well for the fate of his close friend, actress Sonam Kapoor`s ‘Raanjhanaa’, which released on the same day. Neil feels the movies will mark a new beginning for both of them.

"Sonam in `Raanjhanaa` is completely transformed. I can see the change in her. I feel it would be like a new beginning for her. It`s like what happened to Karisma Kapoor after `Raja Hindustani` or Shabana Azmi in `Arth`," said Neil.

Neil and Sonam developed a good friendship ever since they worked together in Abbas-Mustan`s ‘Players’. They have kept close tabs on each other`s projects since, and even make sure they watch one another`s films.

There`s a healthy give-and-take of criticism from both ends.

Neil himself feels a similar change in his own work in ‘Shortcut Romeo’.

"Believe me, I`ve never worked so hard. Because the director Susi Ganesh is completely new to Hindi cinema and Bollywood, I was virtually the one-point stopover for the entire project in Mumbai," he said.

The actor says he served as the hero, the chief assistant, the production co-ordinator and the spotboy on this one.

"My involvement with `Shortcut Romeo` was so deep that I forgot where the actor was left behind and the all-purpose project coordinator took over. Susi is completely alien to Bollywood. I had to lead him through the entire project. But I enjoyed every bit of it," he added.

Neil is confident of ‘Shortcut Romeo’ in spite of competition from his friend`s film, which is already doing brisk business.

"I know `Raanjhanaa` is a big one. Everyone wants to see the love story between Sonam and Dhanush. So do I. But we are advantaged by our budget. `Raanjhanaa` is a Rs.30 crore to Rs.35 crore project. We completed `Shortcut Romeo` within Rs.15 crores although we shot in some of the most exotic spots of the world," said Neil.

Nevertheless, Neil is all for ‘Raanjhanaa’, and even confident of his own film.

"`Shortcut Romeo` was a huge success in Tamil. And we`ve gone many steps ahead of the Tamil original `Thiruttu Payale` in terms of treatment and execution," he added.

Movie Review: Raanjhanaa

Cast: Abhay Deol, Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, Kumud Mishra
Direction: Aanand. L. Rai
Rating: 4 Star Rating: Recommended 4 Star Rating: Recommended4 Star Rating: Recommended

There is only one love story that Bollywood has ever told. Boy loves girl, their romance will have a conflict point, and then it is upto the director to decide if he wants a happy ending or a sad one.

Raanjhanaa loads its tale of love with more 'a's in the title than ambition to be different. Its release couldn't have been better-timed, though. In the season of Aashiqui 2 and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Bollywood buffs seem to be in the mood for love.

You note the necessary add-ons meant to make the standard love story a little more exciting. To start with, the boy is Hindu and the girl Muslim (how original). The basic setting is Benaras - beautiful, distinct small town. Which means the film's creative team gets to use the town as an essential character in the script while symbolising moods. To max out the mush there is a love triangle too, set against a backdrop of socio-political turmoil.

If Raanjhanaa is cliched to the core, director Aanand L. Rai uses the cliches well. The man who made the amazingly wacky Tanu Weds Manu before this has shown his flair at creating unusual characters. This film wholly banks on one such, essayed by Rajinikanth's daamaad Dhanush.

His Bollywood entry sees Dhanush playing the happy-go-lucky Kundan, son of a Benarasi Pandit. Kundan has forever loved Zoya, daughter of a Muslim professor. Zoya couldn't care less and Dhanush’s advances are routinely met with a slap on his face.

Zoya goes off to Delhi for higher studies leaving Kundan pining for her. She will be back after a while to trigger off a temporary spark of hope in him, only to reveal she fell in love in Delhi.

The three-way love story that follows has a bright side. It brings in a surprise twist. And it brings in Abhay Deol as Akram, best bit about this film. He is Zoya’s college mate and a dashing student union leader whom she madly loves. In timetested filmy fashion, Zoya asks Kundan to help her win Akram over. Familiar as the idea is, the love triangle has an unusual end.

The build-up is exciting over the first hour but the script (Himanshu Sharma) is too feeble post interval. The film totally slumps in the second half.

Dhanush uses to his advantage exactly all that you thought would go against him. His average look and lack of six packs works wonderfully for Kundan. Sonam makes a pretty Zoya and Abhay makes the odd mediocre scene look exceptional with sheer screen presence.

Raanjhanaa harks back to the way Bollywood used to make love stories once upon a time. With some imagination, the effect would have been nostalgic, too.

Want to live fairytale romance: Sonam Kapoor

Love has always been an integral part of her films and Sonam Kapoor says she chooses romantic movies because fairytale love stories don't exist in real life.

The 28-year-old star's films - 'Saawariya', 'I Hate Luv Storys', 'Mausam' and upcoming 'Raanjhanaa' - all have love as the common theme.

"I believe in love a lot. I think these movies and novels have spoilt us and we will never find a good boy. We look at boys and think... Do they exist? So I think if I am not getting them in real life, at least, I can see them in reel life. That is why I am attracted to love stories," Sonam told media persons in an interview.

"I like the heroic and unconditional love because I know such boys don't exist in real life and I am very idealistic and romantic. I want to live my life vicariously through these characters," Sonam added.

In 'Raanjhanaa', slated to release this Friday, Sonam plays a small town Muslim girl who falls in love with a Hindu Brahmin boy from her locality.

Sonam believes the audience would be able to relate to her character of a modern, independent girl.

"Zoya is a Muslim girl from Banaras who is the only child of her professor father. She is very much loved and a lot of freedom has been given to her. The movie is about love but a more realistic one, with which people will be able to relate to," said the actress, who is also gearing up for the release of her film 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' this July.

'Raanjhanaa' director Anand L Rai, who shot to fame with 'Tanu Weds Manu' - is all praise for his lead heroine and believes Sonam has given her career's best performance.

The actress, however, feels she has a long way to go before calling herself "good enough".

"I have a long way to go as an actor. I am not going to call myself good enough... I love the craft so much that I will never give up working at it. I will continue acting till I become the best at it and right now I am very far from it," the actress said candidly.

Sonam's last few films-'Thank You', 'Mausam' and 'Players'-failed to do well at the box office but the actress says she will continue to take risks with her roles.

"I know, I have something to fall back on so I can take these risks. A lot of girls who come to this industry have to make safe choices and I don't have to do that. I have a great cushion which is waiting for me to fall and I am grateful for it," said Sonam.

Her impeccable style sense has earned her the tag of Bollywood fashionista but Sonam doesn't not mind fashion being her primary identity.

"I'd rather be known for my fashion than my affairs or controversies. I'd rather be a fashion icon who dresses beautifully and is also an actress. I'd rather have that than be known for my affairs."

My character from Raanjhanaa, Zoya has changed me: Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor talks about her career defining role in Raanjhanaa.

Sonam Kapoor began her career on the same day as Deepika Padukone. But somewhere along the way, her rival zoomed ahead in terms of films, performances and hits. Sonam, meanwhile, was preparing to strike. She was waiting for a role which would allow her to make everyone sit up and take notice. Raanjhanaa, which releases next week, may just be that film. The actress did the film when it was an emotionally trying time for her. She had split with her long-time boyfriend Punit Malhotra while shoting for the film. With her broken heart she shot for the most romantic film of her career. Read on with a tete-a-tete with the Kapoor girl...

What made you sign Raanjhanaa?
What I liked about the girl was her growth in the film — it’s like a graph. Zoya Haidar is not just a pretty girl and a typical simpering, goody-goody heroine. She has something more to her. Zoya is a normal girl with grey shades to her. Every film that I do is challenging in its own way but yes, Raanjhanaa has been my most challenging role till now. Getting into Zoya’s character, which has got so many layers, was tough. She is so complicated yet real.

I have always tried to do different films and gone without make-up or styling even in Delhi 6 and Mausam as I try to be different for every character. I like doing different things to challenge myself in every way and don’t like to repeat myself. But I can honestly says that Raanjhanaa has been the most creatively satisfying experience I have ever had in my life. I am playing a character that grows up in this film and with this film I have also grown up in the process. There is a little sadness in Zoya’s character and somewhere I have identified with that. Though Sonam Kapoor and Zoya Haidar are both different.

How much do you identify yourself with Zoya’s character?

Zoya has a lot of chracteristics which many girls will identity with. She is a middle class girl in her values, is very headstrong and emotional. On that level, I do connect with her. I may not be perfect and have many layers to my personality. When Zoya falls in love she believes in it and feels strongly about it. Love is complicated as I believe in it too, like her, but very few people like her have the courage to take a stand.

Did you connect on an emotional level with her?

Yes I did. Acting in Raanjhaana has changed me in a fundamental way. Playing Zoya has made me more settled and calmer. She has a heaviness in her heart and I identified with that. It’s a complex character — Zoya is sad and that’s in me. I love looking at something with a tinge of sadness. I have lived Zoya’s life — cried, laughed and fallen in love with her.

What was the toughest scene in the film?

I can’t reveal exactly which scene but what I can tell you is that towards the end emotionally I had become Zoya and she had become me... I couldn’t differentiate between us... So it was difficult and uncomfortable enacting certain emotions as I felt I was playing out my story. I was going through the process with Zoya and it was cathartic but bery uncomfortable and painful for me.

Did you identify Zoya when it comes to the matters of the heart?

Every individual goes through different experiences. Love is complex and sometimes what we do is inexplicable. When I fell in love along with Zoya I felt a new emotion. I discovered that falling in love can be a beautiful experience...

Was it emotionally taxing?
Raanjhanaa is a boiling cauldron of intense emotions of love, hate, penance, jealousy, revenge, joy, mischief and much more... When I read it and started playing the role I felt I had opened my heart out and put myself there for everyone to see all the emotions boiling inside me...

How was working with Dhanush?

It was incredible! Dhanush is so talented and humble. He appears so unassuming but working with him has been a great learning experience. He is so dedicated and commited.

I loved working with Anand (director) too. He treated me with so much love and affection. I would love to work with him in every film of his. I love him. He is the best! I find such people rare in life - people who are so pure and unjaded.

How has your parents and sister Rhea reacted to the trailers/promos?

They have loved it the trailers and are excited. My family always wants to see me doing different and exciting stuff. The media reactions have been incredible too. Rhea loves Raanjhanaa as she thinks its very real, Indian and very funny. She loves complete package of romancem, drama. Raanjhanaa is not a simple love story. It’s a very real and love in real life is very complicated.

Does Raanjhaana feel like a blockbuster?
I don’t know. I don’t think of my work like that. I hope every film is a milestone in my life. I don’t look at any films of mine differently. All my films have made me grow and change as a person. I hope it will be a hit but I can’t comment whether it will be. All I know is that I have already achieved what I wanted to. Everything else is in God’s hands now.

Sonam Kapoor wants to marry Dhanush’s Raanjhanaa character in real life!

The actor says if a guy like Raanjhanaa‘s Kundan approached her in real life, she would marry him instantly

Sonam Kapoor, who will be seen going from a school girl to a mature adult in Anand L Rai’s Raanjhanaa, says that she gave her nod to the movie because the character of Zoya was very real and human. “I am not a trained actor, I can’t use glycerine, I can’t lie. After Delhi 6 and Aisha, I went into a completely wrong zone, and the Raanjhanaa script seemed like a god sent project,” she said.

Sonam identifies with her part so much that she says she could have even fallen in love with, and married Dhanush’s character Kundan in real life too! She feels that she wouldn’t think twice before tying the knot with a man like him. The babe may indulge in a lot of fun and banter with her co-star Dhanush (case in point: while entering the studio, SK took a dig at Dhanush by saying that the suit he was wearing looked like a raincoat!), but looks like she literally adores his onscreen character.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag banned in Pakistan

While many Bollywood movies are getting a decent release in Pakistan, Farhan Akhtar starrer Bhaag Milkha Bhaag has been banned from releasing in the neighbouring country.

The reason for the ban is apparently a dialogue that Farhan's character says in the film, which goes, "Mujhse nahi hoga. Main Pakistan nahi jaonga."

Apparently, Farhan's character Milkha is asked to go to Pakistan in the film and he refuses as Milkha's family members were brutally killed during the 1947 riots. The Pakistan Censor Board has therefore disallowed the release of the film in their country. On the other hand, the film's producers Viacom 18 wanted to stay true to the real life story of Milkha and hence agreed to do away with the release of the film in Pakistan.

Kareena paired opposite Emraan Hashmi in a romantic flick

B-Town actor, Kareena Kapoor who has been paired opposite almost all the romantic stars in the film industry, is all set to share the silver screen with the serial kisser, Emraan Hashmi in her next. The flick is supposed to go on floors this year itself.

Emraan, who has always been a part of erotic films, has signed a romantic drama along with Bebo. As per reports, the film will be produced under Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.

A source close to the flick said, "We are excited to have Emraan and Kareena on board. It is a romantic film and completely original. The shooting will begin from September-October in Mumbai and Delhi."

Currently, the producers are busy selecting other stars for the flick. Also, there are rumors that the makers have titled the film as Batameez Dil. Although, the source close to the development said that the name has not been finalized yet.

The film will mark the directorial debut of Akshay Roy.

Kiran Rao launches online voting for Ship of Theseus

Filmmaker Kiran Rao, who is releasing Ship of Theseus in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata initially, has come up with an online voting option for audiences to view the movie in other cities.

Directed by Anand Gandhi, the film premiered at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and received critical acclaim. Is being released by Kiran Rao in association with UTV Motion Pictures in India.

To cater to a larger audience, the makers are launching an online voting system - 'Vote for the film in your city' - where people in various cities can vote to watch the film. The movie will be screened in those cities which get the maximum votes.

"We feel there are a good number of people who live outside of the big cities like Mumbai and Delhi who are also keen to watch Ship of Theseus. With our online campaign 'Vote for the film in your city' our effort is to gauge the interest of that audience, and hopefully based on that to take the film to them," said Kiran in a statement.

The team is currently putting together on a portal which will launch this week. "It's an exciting new way to reach out to viewers, a democratization of cinema, where audiences decide what they want to see. It's great that we have been able to work together with UTV on this initiative," said Gandhi.

Ship Of Theseus explores questions of identity, justice, beauty and death through the stories of an experimental photographer, an ailing monk and a stockbroker. It will hit the theatres on July 19.

Salman Khan's co-star Sana Khan gets anticipatory bail

Salman Khan's Mental co-star Sana Khan can breathe easy after the former Bigg Boss contestant got anticipatory bail in connection with the abduction of a 15-year-old girl.

25-year-old model-turned-actress Sana, who rose to fame after featuring in few commercials, was wanted by police in a case involving the abduction of a teenager for rejecting her cousin Naved's marriage proposal.

Salman Khan worried about Mental co-star Sana Khan

While Naved and his two friends - Kshitij Gopinath Dubey and Vismit Vilas Ambre - were arrested, Sana had switched off her mobile phone and evaded the public eye.

Mental, which is directed by Sohail Khan also features Daisy Shah and is slated for release on January 26 next year.

Spotted: Cancer-free Manisha Koirala in New York

After overcoming the cancer, Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala is slowly returning to social life.

Actress Manisha Koirala, who has successfully battled ovarian cancer, maintained a vibrant and cheerful demeanour as she stepped out for a public function in New York recently.

The 42-year-old was seen wearing trousers, a white shirt, a casual white coat and a red hat. Manisha covered her head with a tied-up stole, and then further concealed it with the bright red hat -- and she not only looked elegant, she was also happier and healthier.

Even her face and her smile reflected a unique glow as she interacted with several women in a green, open space.

"I am free from cancer," Manisha said at the event, thanking all those who wished her recovery during her tough time, according to Nepalese channel White Himal TV, which operates from New York.

Manisha Koirala, who carved her own niche in the Hindi film industry with films like "Bombay", "1942: A Love Story" and "Dil Se..", was initially admitted to Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital Nov 28 last year after which she flew down to the US for further treatment.

She is expected to return to India towards June end, her manager Subroto Ghosh, told IANS, adding: "She is now fine, all hale and hearty."

The actress is missing the Mumbai monsoon. She took to her Facebook page to share her thoughts, and posted: "Got to know (about) lovely rains in Mumbai. Can't wait to be on my terrace!"

First Look n Tralier : Bajatey Raho is Funny and Entertaining

Upcoming Bollywood comedy Bajatey Raho may not boast of big ticket names, but the film seems to have an interesting plot.

What do you do with a man who has conned you of crores? Handing him over to the law could be one way, but the conned of Bajatey Raho decide to give the duper a dose of his own medicine by conning him.

The movie features Dolly Ahluwalia, Tusshar Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey in the lead roles. Ravi Kishan is the antagonist.

Sabbarwahl (Ravi Kishan) is on a roll committing a series of frauds, all in the garb of a successful business entrepreneur. But little does he know that one of his misdoings has created a huge impact on the lives of 4 poor sods: Mrs. Baweja (Dolly Ahluwalia), Sukhi (Tusshar Kapoor), Mintoo Hasan (Vinay Pathak) and Ballu (Ranvir Shorey) which has only resulted into an enormous wave of need for vengeance.

With the death of Mr. Baweja due to a cardiac arrest after being framed in a bank fraud and Saira his assistant being put behind bars, Mrs. Baweja takes the situation in her hands. The poor sods decide to no longer remain victims to the situation by living on scrawny jobs and meagre monies but instead BAJAO Sabbarwahl’s band in the best way possible. It’s the good hearted underdog who has to become a ‘little BAD’ to fight the ‘very BAD’.

Eros International in association with MSM Motion Pictures presents Bajatey Raho a Shashant A Shah directorial film produced by Krishika Lulla. The film is all set to release in theatres on 26th July, 2013.

What's Aamir khan ,Kiran doing with Ranbir?

Turns out she's organising a special show of 'Ship Of Theseus' for him and the rest of the 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' team

Anand Gandhi's upcoming film Ship of Theseus has already created the right kind of noise in the industry. And we hear that even Ranbir Kapoor is scheduled to watch the film, thanks to a special screening to be held by Kiran Rao.

Our sources say that at the success party of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Ayan Mukerji expressed his desire to see the film. Kiran, who is the presenter of the movie, apparently agreed to not only hold a special screening for Ayan, but for the entire cast and crew of YJHD.

An insider says, `Kiran and Ayan, who have both worked with Ashutosh Gowariker, were spotted in deep conversation at the success party of the latter's film. Both were catching up with each other when Ayan told Kiran he wanted to see Anand's film.

Kiran told him she would happily organise a show for his film's team, including Ranbir and Deepika Padukone. `
